Village Greens of Woodridge Golf Course

Booked a round for a good rate on golf now… ended up being the worst deal ever. I drove my cart up to the first tee to find out that today was lady’s (older) league day… they all drove their balls about 50 into the rough… I asked the starter if my partner and I could start off on the back and he asked me if I was crazy…“it’s league day, now way I can do that” which didn’t make since… My tee time was at 8:18 and there was no way any of these young ladies were on the back nine yet. On top of that every since tee box was covered in a thick layer of mulch… its September and there’s still a lot of golf to play and I see no reason for them to deliberately make the round less enjoyable in order to get a jump start on whatever the heck they are doing that for… I attached a picture as well. All in all its a decent public course but I will never play it again seeing that my round took 6 hours and 80% of that time was spent waiting at tee boxes trying to clear a little area free of mulch to hit from. Also, no cart girl, no water on the course, and the porter potty’s on the course were barf worthy… could even breath in them… and I’m a 26 year old male who played football for 8 years and lived in a condemnable house in college with 8 other guys, so it takes a lot to make me as grossed out as I was.

I’ve played this course a few times and I’ve been pretty happy with it. The starter was not very friend but once I got past him… I was happy with the course. It is a nice looking course that is well maintained. The staff in the pro shop was very professional. The lady at the bar was enthusiastic and seemed happy to be there.
Cons– This course turns smaller groups into foursomes automatically. We played with some nice guys but I’m not a fan of the bigger group. They have a charity fundraiser on the 4^th hole. I wish I knew about it when I paid. You get a free beer and a chance to win money of you get a hole in one. They need to make sure to tell everyone when they pay for green fees. Also, no beer cart! :(I hope this was because it was early in the season. I hope they will have somebody out selling drinks & snacks next time.
Overall– nice course with pros and cons

I read these reviews before I play at new course, and usually never leave my own reviews. However, I paid 50 dollars to golf this course at a 3:30 tee time on a Sunday, and I believe this was the most over priced golf course I have ever played. There is Mud all over the course and it hasn’t rain lately. There are mud/​dead spots all over the fairways. And when we were teeing off the starter was laughing and BSing with next group in the middle of our swings. Then a couple of holes later the beverage cart Laddie came right up to the green screaming «drinks» in the middle of my putt. There are 20 other course in this area that I would rather play than this course. I will never play here again!!!

This review is for my overall experience for golfing at this course. On a whim, we decided to try to golf in the afternoon because the weather was pretty good. I went to their website online (not a discount website) to book a tee time.
When I punched in my criteria (twosome) 3:30 was available. I put in my credit card info, and got an email confirmation. Ready to rock and roll!
We arrive there 20 min prior to the tee time to check in. The person at the desk tells me that I had only reserved 1 slot. I told her that I specifically recalled the screen mentioning $ 69 and change but she was adamant and turned the monitor around to show me. I asked her then why I would recall or mention the $ 69 number if it wasn’t true and did not get a satisfactory response.
The only option provided was that we could go off at 3:39 pm and they would charge us the appropriate rate which would have been around $ 40+ per person… even more than I had originally committed to online.
This left me in a pickle — we had dropped off our kid with the sitter and I very well didn’t want just ONE of us to golf and on principle did not want to pay more for a later tee time.
Plus, I then came back to show her that for the record the email confirmation that was sent by the golfcourse (not a discount golf website) said 2 ppl for 3:30. Then I came back a third time when I saw in the fine print that the reservation could not be canceled or changed and that I would get charged the full amount if I «no showed».
All of a sudden, I could get that rate and there was availability at 3:30 pm for two ppl. It all seemed really fishy to me, like they only wanted to honor the rate I was quoted for one person. The system they had was messed up some how and I get that things like this happen… it’s handling the guest/​customer that was an epic FAIL.
Once upon a time my husband had sworn off from playing here a few years back — it took an excrutiating 5.5 hours to complete the round but because of this impromptu decision, I opted to go with this course over Cog Hill based on the tee time I was given. Needless to say, my husband enjoyed reminding me of our experience way back when.
The golf course itself is not bad for the price… decently maintained but pace of play even when things were pretty wide open in twilight was about 4.5 hours. I would have preferred getting done within 4 hours. The two people we were paired up with were really nice so that made the actually experience of golfing enjoyable. Getting to the teebox, not so much… we will not be coming back given the hassle and of this last reservation fiasco!

We like to play early so I booked what appeared to be the first tee time. When I got to the course, I paid for my round and confirmed we were the first time. I go outside and the starter is organizing another group to start before our group. I show him my receipt and mention we are the first time. He says nothing and sends the other foursome out in front of our threesome. The foursome is beyond slow. Of course, there is no marshal on the course so we are left to our own devices. Despite being on their tail for the first several holes, the foursome does not wave us through. We finally are force to skip a hole to avoid a 5+ hour round.
If the course has no respect for tee times, they should not offer tee times on their web-​site. The course requires you to honor your tee time or be charged if you are a no show. Apparently, the tee time is a one way street at Village Greens.

This is not Augusta National, although for the competitive prices, who would expect that? The normal rates aren’t bad, but if you’ve got some schedule flexibility sign up for their $ 9.99 email club (for 9 hole rates) and check out the $ 12 super-​twilight rate on Saturdays and Sundays after 4 PM.
The course has lots and lots of play, but all things considered, is pretty well maintained. Ball marks on the greens would be my one beef with that, but it depends on the day you’re there. Sometimes it’s fine, other times it seems nobody has ever repaired a ball mark.
Pace of play can get pretty bad on the weekends. While I think they stagger the tee times well enough, you rarely see a ranger out on the course to help out if things get slow and the groups ahead of you aren’t keeping up with pace of play.
The range is short, so it’s irons only, so FYI if you’re thinking about cranking out driver on the range before your round.
Granted this course competes with 9 hole courses and par 3 courses in Downers Grove and Westmont so they’re something different since you can play 18 there, but that is a reason they keep reasonable prices for 9 hole rates.
Give this course a try. If you’re used to playing great courses or are a single digit handicap, this might not be the course for you. If you’re a hacker, weekend golfer, or someone that plays 5 – 6 times a year, it’ll be fine.
Just please keep up the pace of play, fix your ballmarks, and rake the traps. :)

I agree with previous reviews though I wouldn’t say the course was in that bad of shape, I have seen a lot worse, it was fair, and the greens where in decent shape. The fairway could have been cut as the grass was to high in most circumstances to get any roll. The worst where the rangers on the course. People in front of us where slowing up the entire course, messing around on the greens, taking 20+ minutes per hole with nobody in front of them. The rangers saw it and didn’t do squat. It needs to be explained to some people that once you are well beyond 2x Par, it is courteous to pick up your ball.

This place is about $ 40 for 18 holes.
Generally way to crowded, the greens and fairway are in bad shape. and they have really packed the holes tightly together.
Marginal food, pro shop has just the basic needs. I was not impressed by this place.
