they need better customer service skills. I used to come there once a week. when my job pulled me to queens. I dealt with their lack of customer service b/c I did like the food, and pastries. till a month ago, I ordered the lunch special which is what I always order. well the lady with the black long hair was extremely rude. She didn’t give me an option. it was the chicken soup with the chicken or the lentil with the steak and that it as she quoted. So then I said if its the breast then give me it. yes over three times. you think, I get to the office and I see a leg that was not even cooked very well. I called and she hangs up on me. No customer service and if you don’t speak their Spanish they treat you even worst.

I use to work right next to Mango’s for about 2 years & this was definitely the best place for breakfast, their coffee is amazing & the prices are very good. Now the food is ok, not phenomenal. I was able to meet the owner & she was so well educated & polite, now the employees(waitresses) are totally rude. Also don’t forget to try the empanadas they are amazing, I introduced friends & they loved it.

Only reason this place gets 4 stars is because of the expectacular pastries. I go in here daily, and their corraisants(or however you spells them) are ALWAYS fresh, and STILL warm!!! Some of the workers STILL have an attitude, but MOST of them are very nice and respectful. DONOTGOFORTHECHICKEN. Not sure what seasoning they use, but it tastes like curry! NOT A FAN… ATALL!!! This place def. needs a face lift. With Pollos Mario’s just a block down, they need to step their food game up big time! All pastries are delish though, and their coffe is great! Hot coffee with steamed milk, for the same price as your regular local deli coffee or CHEAPER, is great, and a steal! This morning I got a corraisant with ham and cheese and a large coffee for $ 3.25 YOUCANNOTBEATTHAT! I usually pay $ 7 or $ 8 for the same exact thing in the city!

Colombian bakery, slow service but the coffee is good. The waitresses have an attitude for some reason and are a bit on the slow side.

Prices are great, but you get what you pay for. I ordered a chicken combo: 2 whole chickens, rice, beans, potatoes and a 2 liter coke for around $ 22 with tax. The food is borderline inedible. I’ve never had such bland roasted chicken. I can get better flavor from a supermarket rotisserie chicken. Very disappointing! I was so happy to have found an affordable mid week dinner option– not here! Also, the service was terrible. It wasn’t even the language barrier, it was lack of desire to help customers or something. The were busy, but to that busy! Well never go back!

I’ve lived in Woodside for decades, so I’ve seen restaurants come and I’ve seen restaurants go. Mango’s has changed management, so the empanadas of yesteryear — delicious, fresh, crispy on the outside and warm, potato and beef or chicken filled on the inside — are replaced with a very disappointing, stale substitute. I’m giving it a couple of stars for the coffee and croissant.

The food is good, service is ok. but I was wondring if a smile could come with the service.lol.it is a clean nice spot, but, I feel like the staff must all be mis-treated in some way or they all have horrible lives. lol

I was 5050 about this place but after coming here more often I’ve become a fan. if you are looking for some cheap ass sunday morning grub, then this place is a good alternative. Good: You must try their Pan de Yuca(Cassava bread) its so delicious but make sure to ask them to warm it up before you eat it. If not it just tastes like regular bread. I’ve also tried their Huevos Fritos. It comes with 2 greasy fried eggs, surprisingly tasty hash potatoes(first time i ever finished my diner served hash potatoes!) and choice of meat. Their pancakes and french toast have simpleness to them that I enjoy and the portions are awesome for the price. Friendly staff. My friend loves coming here to check the waitresses out.(What a pig, eh!) Bad: Empanadas are so so, I’ve had better elsewhere. Arepa de Choclo was sad. Buñelos were disappointing, small and overly dry. This joint has so many more options that I haven’t tried. I guess I will be coming here this Sunday morning and adding to my review.

3.5 Stars. I stopped by here early on a Sunday morning, needing to find a quick bite to eat very close to the subway station but preferring not to eat at Dunkin’ Donuts. Great local joint. Great prices — Ham and cheese croissant for $ 2! Although the ham and cheese could have been more flavorful. The croissant itself was the best part. Friendly staff and nice selection of breakfast pastry items.

Now that I’ve been living on the East Coast for awhile, things are starting to come full circle. I think back on the times I used to go shopping with my mother. We’d run errands for the apartment and pick up things at Woolworth’s. A trip to Woolworth’s always included sitting on the bar stool at the counter while we waited for lunch. I was too young to realize we didn’t live in NJ and that we were only there because it was our Summer home away from home. For me, this was just our usual routine. This is what the locals did. My friend raves about Mango’s and their pandebono. We stopped in before our afternoon shopping, got one of each, sweet and savory, and halved them so we could both try the difference. Instead of taking them to go, we sat at the counter. Mango’s is not a fancy place. The décor is in its original form, old and outdated. We sat and ate our pandebono properly with coffee. I actually had mine with hot chocolate but it is with the same sentiment. The pandebono here is definitely better than the ones at La Abundancia. They are less greasy, softer, less sweet and more cheesy. We chatted about our plans and caught up on some chismis. We lingered and made ourselves at home. This new routine makes me feel like a local. I am one. I just never acted like one. Mango’s does have a sit down restaurant portion and the front is a bakery. The bakery is full of cakes and bread. There is a calm stream of people and it is obvious they are all people from the neighborhood and regulars. I spied this Colombian bread pudding(pudin de pan) that I have recently become fixated with. It looks like a brick, rich and sweet. One day I will try it. It sits next to the flan, which also looks like a brick, rich and sweet. I smile. Mango’s seems promising and is an all together welcoming spot in the neighborhood.

because thanks to i. p. and rachel a. i know what a pandebono is — in fact, I HAVEBEENGETTINGTHEBESTONESHERE. the donut shaped ones — they call it cheesebread(but yeah, i just point out to it) is soft and pillowy inside and enough crust outside. it is so good just by itself that i wish i can get this everyday for breakfast. the regular round one, i guess that’s the proper pandebono, is also good, a bit sweeter than the cheesebread, but i feel that it is made from the same dough(methinks its the shape of the bread that does it. the more it is «cooked» the saltier it gets. its a theory at best. a weird one at that). i like that their pandebono/cheesebread is moist(and ive gotten it at 2pm and its still moist!) and yummy. the cakes here? i dont want to try it. never tried the food either.

Good: 1. The empanadas.(Especially to go). 2. The price(fairly cheap) Mediocre: 1. The consistency.(Sometimes so delicious, sometimes so poor). 2. The language barrier(Can’t blame them, but its hard to communicate what you want sometimes)

I’ve passed by this place for the past 4 years and never decided to drop by and eat. until recently. I started off small just ordering a café con leche and a cheese danish to take to work in the morning. So far so good. Then one night I was hankering for some Latin food but didn’t want to go to my favorite spot El Sitio at 69 street, and wanted to stay somewhat close. I decided to eat at Mangos, the prices are relatively good so I went in and got the Skirt Steak with white rice and red beans. There was a small salad that came before hand and it had thin slices of mango in it which I enjoyed. Now was the food amazing? No, but it definitely was still good. I also have to confess that I have this thing where I can never seem to get good Colombian food from a Colombian restaurant, so for me this was a step up. I also know of Seba Seba and La Boina Roja on 37 Avenue in Jackson Heights but have never really given it a try. So for me really good Colombian food remains elusive as ever. Also I wanted to address something that another reviewer wrote about the pastries being ‘too sweet’. One thing to keep in mind is that Latin bakeries in general make sweet pastries according to the American palate. I personally like the danishes and I’ve had the cheese cake etc, and all were good. I don’t like very sweet things either but I am aware of the fact that this is how typically Latin bakeries make their pastries/cakes etc.

I live near Mangos and probably pick up food every 2 – 3 weeks. I love their Empanadas and the Chicken Soup special on Mondays are a great deal. You get a chicken soup, ¼ chicken, rice and salad for about $ 6 – 7. Most of the waitresses seem nice but that could be because they recognize me.

I’ve been here a handle full of times. There’s definitely nothing to rave about this place. I can’t think of anything that stood out as being exceptionally good. Simply a sub-par Colombian restaurant.

This place is about 200 feet away from me so I go often but am always disappointed. The food is mediocre and the service is exceptionally poor — the waitresses have a lot of attitude and laughed at me behind my back when I changed my order once. I also once sat down for about 20 minutes to order breakfast but they didn’t serve it to me, saying that they«had a lot of customers in the morning and are no longer serving breakfast.» I bought several pastries once and they are of very poor quality — they look great but just taste sweet, there is no other flavor. Only pro — the prices are cheap. A full breakfast(pancakes, juice/coffee, toast) can be under $ 6 if you go at the right time and when they’re in the right mood.

Small quaint Colombian place nearby my crib. This place is good for take-out or a breakfast or lunch. A little lacking in menu selection unlike it’s big brother Mangos in Jackson Heights. They have a few empanadas and breads in the glass but not many so freshness is not guaranteed. Not bad like I said, but for dinner I would go to the nearby Pollos Mario on Woodside ave.
