I hired Maria when we needed to move my mom who had been in her large home for 60 years into a 1 bedroom apartment in a senior community. She really helped with working kindly and patiently with my 85 year old mother and was actually the only one who overcame my mother’s resistance and fears in order to pick out the furnishings and clothes, jewelry, etc. that she wanted to bring with her and which would fit. I really appreciated the furniture placement and design abilities that she brought to the table that none of the adult children have. She created a mini rendition of my mother’s precious home — it’s look and feel, despite pieces chosen came from different rooms.(Maria has also worked for one of my clients.)

Maria helped us with our move from a house we had lived in for 30+ years. Maria provides both guidance and access to valuable services(strong bodies; intelligent discarding services). We found«lightening» a very uplifting experience. It’s hard to get rid of stuff but once you do, boy did it feel good. Maria is very good at helping you through the emotional knot holes as well as making the process easy and time effective(when you say you can live without something it just disappears.) I honestly think that lightening would be a very positive experience even if you’re not moving.

Maria is the absolute best at the important work she does. We needed to move my mom, who was 84 and had lived in the same house for 54 years, into a new condo in a two-week period. Because I live on the East Coast, we turned many of the critical details of the move over to Maria, from figuring out what to take and how to decorate the new unit, setting up the packing and movers, to orchestrating everything with my mom and the new building. Maria brings not only stellar organization skills to the task of moving seniors, but also a wonderful eye for decoration and design. She developed a beautiful floor plan, complete with photos of what pieces of furniture would go where, which helped my mom visualize living in a much different place. And, perhaps most importantly, Maria’s gentle, gracious manner enabled her to connect immediately with my mom, to empathize with the challenges she was facing and to ease many of my mom’s concerns about this difficult transition. I don’t know how we would have managed through this difficult phase in our family’s life without Maria.
