After a bad experience dealing with the prior bakery; I decided to go a different route and put DIY skills to work. I studied the princess castle cake and jot down the supplies and materials that I would need to complete it. It was a 2-tier white fondant cake– 1 sheet cake(13×9) and a 9″ square cake. There were a total of 7 towers with a single tower in the center. The towers that stood facing the square cake were skinnier than the others. It also required using pink fondant(cut out hearts) and blue fondant for the top of the towers. The rest of the cake was draped in white fondant in addition to towers and border crown of the towers/décor. It was going to be a long project but I was determined for my lil’ girl! I purchased the following: Daddio Fondant in White(5lbs), Pink(8 oz), and Blue(8 oz), heart cutter set, cake board, pack of plastic dowel rods(to secure stacking 2nd tier) and a set of alphabet cutter. The way that P&H works is by opening an account for customers to purchase supplies, etc. For a first-time visit, you’re required to fill out a form, write in the description, code, and tally up the items and total. If you get confused, the assistants by the counter will help out. However, keep in mind that everything here is old-school. They punch your cc using invoice print outs and manually type in your order. Expect to wait. However, you can occupy your time by browsing through the showroom and catalog. Note: If your order is less than $ 50, an automatic $ 4 charge will be add onto your total. Show up on time, they will remind you that they close exactly at 4:30PM! Don’t worry if the workers don’t seem to be thrilled there, they’re not. I do love that P&H carries everything from cake decorating to products for a lot less than other stores/suppliers. Def will return for baking supplies as soon as I get the hang of using fondant, as well as the rest of the supplies.

reading all the reviews, I feel obligated to leave a review too. I have been doing business with them for more then a decade. They ship most of the times the day you order. They charge NOSHIPPING on most orders(My average is over $ 850.00 a month with them). Orders are 99% of the time filled correctly. The prices are reasonable. The quality is good. If you are a full bakery, they are great. if you are a «house lady» trying to get 2 or 3 items from them maybe they don’t have the time for you. I would have given them 5 stars if I did not had 2 x a bad communication with them in the last year. But that over so many years… not bad at all. They are in the TOP5 companies I deal with!!!

I’ve used this company a few times… but I am really disappointed. Not only because of the undisclosed shipping charges but the handling fees as well. My paper items costed $ 13.20 and after their handling fee and freight charge it came to $ 34.45… Additionally when you place the order online it doesn’t get processed until they call you which is frustrating when you need something rather quick. Might as well just call an order in… On top of that their website is like trying to navigate through DOS on a computer… it’s archaic and sloppy. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Would have been 0 stars if it was possible. Absolutely worst service I have ever encountered. Ordered a pick up online at 9:35AM, got to p&h at 12:20 and was told the staff was going on lunch and would be back at 1:00. I figured so would wait so that I wouldn’t loose my place. About 10 more people came in from that time to 1:00 and when the ONE lady working came back everyone was upset and complaining, the lady saw e and that I was the first person in that room from when she let for lunch but proceeded to take numerous people in front of me. When I kept asking her all she was responding was I will be right with you. At 1:50 I told her that I could not wait any longer and needed my order to which she asked for my name and I then waited another 25 minutes for my order to come out only for them to tell me that 3 things were out of Stock.(When ordering on the computer, the site NEVER tells you if something is out of stock so you always have a surprise when receiving or picking up your order) I asked for replacements for 2 of the items and after another 10 minutes received them. By the time I paid for my order and was leaving it was 2:35! I spent more than 2 hours in the showroom even though I had placed my order at 9:35AM. This is absolutely unacceptable and the service was the worst I have ever experienced. I did not receive one apology for making me wait so long. I have a business and to leave for over 2 hours is very costly and complicating and to have to deal with a 2 hour wait and bad service on top of it is horrendous. I order here quite often and there are always issues but what I experienced today will most likely have me take my business elsewhere. Im sure I am not alone as at least 5 or 6 other people were all very upset with not being helped all whom waited a fraction of the time I did. Consideration should be given for people who have to get back to their businesses especially when we have the patience to wait for a whole showroom staff to go on lunch for an hour. EXTREMELY disappointed in pfeil and holing and it’s poor management and customer service.

Do not order from parent company Pfeil & Holing! They do not give their shipping prices, but instead say, «We ship your order in the least expensive fashion». When the charge showed up on my credit card for the 7 small, rather lightweight items I ordered, my order of $ 82 was suddenly over $ 99. Plus they didn’t bother to mention that one of the items… the most important item I ordered was not available and I’d have to reorder if I wanted to get it. It still shows available on their website so I guess I’d be in for another crazy shipping charge if I wanted to get my fondant ribbon. When I called to find out about the ribbon customer service was crazy rude. Save yourself some grief, don’t order from this company.
