Love this place! I had halo halo for the first time. I mean special halo halo. I had to ask what makes it special. It comes with aye ma and ube ball. I love ube. But yema I’ve never had. It was delicious. So sweet! I should have stopped there but had to order tocino and lobganisa to take home. Soo much red colored meat. I love it!

I’m a filipino & I know the real taste of a filipino food. So far I’m impressed. Came here last friday night around 830 with my bf & brother. They close at 9 and let us ordered after a few minutes of deciding what to get. We ordered 3 types of food. Pinakbet-sauteed vegestable with beans, eggplant, squash with soy sauce & a lil bit of shrimp paste. Fried pampano– just simply deep fried fish. Letchon kawali– deep fried pork. For drinks we got calamansi juice– its lemon with some honey. I love the food! Everything taste perfect. I wanna go back to try more. Need to go back around lunch since they close pretty early at night.

My mom, her friends, and I came here for lunch. This was our first time at this restaurant. It’s small but very popular. We ordered one of those bilaos, the ones that contained the BBQ, longanisa, tocino, fish, and added on kare-kare, and crispy pata. Taste-wise: good! Nice to know I can always come here for comfort food. Service was mediocre and noticed a lot of loud talk between the owners(I presume, or managers) and the waiters. Many times, though, we’ve had to chase down 3 waiters to get more water or extra utensils not available to us. Prices are decent and appropriate.

I am not Filipino, but love the food. I have been to all the surrounding Filipino restaurants, and Renees is by far the tastiest, and feels alot cozier. You get a warm feeling when you walk in, like your having dinner with family. I highly recommend.

Food and service were wonderful. Great place to stop in for some bbq. If you want a décor rating then you’re an a-hole.

Renee’s is the smaller Filipino restaurant located in between the 2 more popular ones, Ihawan and Krystal’s Café. Although it is like the smaller brother of the 2, it still has some bite in its menu. There’s nothing fancy about Renee’s, just good old home cooking. When I visited, my friend and I ordered a few of the typical dishes. We shared the Lumpiang Shanghai(fried pork & shrimp mini spring rolls) and for my main course I got the Nagbabagang Longaniza(2 sticks of grilled sausage with white rice). The Lumpiang Shanghai was exactly as I imagined, but less greasy. Usually spring rolls have that shiny look and when you bite into it a squirt of grease spills out, but not these spring rolls. The spring rolls were very crunchy, consistent in taste and simple. There was very little grease and even that wasn’t even noticeable. The spring rolls came with a sweet sauce on the side. For the Nagbabagang Longaniza, the sausages were very big. They were cooked perfectly, with a little burn and with the white rice it was very filling. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware I could have ordered the garlic rice, until after the fact, since all the grille dishes come with white or garlic rice. In addition to my meal, I ordered the Mango Smoothie(if you can call it that). I’m not sure if they got my beverage order wrong, but the smoothie tasted nothing like mango. Nevertheless, it came in a mason jar, with chopped ice and still was very refreshing for what it was. It tasted more like a Mango, Banana combination because of its bland flavor. Overall, I really need to come back to try the breakfast because that’s my main order at Filipino restaurants. Unfortunately, Renee’s only serves it up until 3pm, which is a bummer.

Best Filipino food I’ve ever had. My girlfriend is part Filipino so I’ve had a fair amount. The longanisa, lumpia and chicken adobo are all amazing. I get those three dishes every time. Way better than the Filipino places I’ve tried in Manhattan.

Me and my bf comes here almost every week, he thinks this place is good for a pilipino food, he said it’s homey and food comes out hot and so good. Gets really crowded here, service is good and food is affordable.

My 300th review on Unilocal!Woo hoo! For most people this may not be a tremendous milestone requiring fanfare and fireworks, but nonetheless I consider this a major accomplishment and I’m glad that Renee’s has a part in it. As you walk underneath the rumblings of the #7 train above, you arrive at Renee’s, a small restaurant in the Filipino area of Queens. Renee’s houses only a few tables. I came here with my Filipino friends because they knew exactly what to order. Some of the items that we had included the following: * Smoothies for starters — Mango and Taro smoothies which were very rich and sweet, a little overpriced for a local spot I thought, but very good. * Crispy Pata — Delicious deep fried pork goodness. It was served in a wicker basket, I don’t know how they are able to get the pork skin so crispy without drying out the meat but it was phenomenally good! * Grilled cuttlefish — The cuttlefish was huge and served on a sizzling platter, it was tender and infused with a light smokey flavor. * Grilled eggplant — served with skin intact, you need to peel off the skin and dip the eggplant in the special sauce.- It was quite good as well. * The sampler — which was a nice selection of the different meats and preparations, it came with a skewer of longanisa, pork belly, chicken and longsilog all served on top of a banana leaf. Overall the food was delicious and reasonable priced, to be honest my friend and his family paid for the meal, but the menu items were not super expensive. Now in terms of service I felt they could use some improvement in this area. The servers never checked back on us and when we needed something they had to be flagged down several times before they acknowledged us. Service people! Come On! The menu is pretty expansive offering many selections. Parking can be difficult so you may need to park a little further away to find a space. My definite go to place for my culinary Filipino experience.

Visited here on our trip to New York. I guess this is one of the more well known spots for Filipino fare, seems to be very popular. We came for lunch and there was a 30 minute wait. Place isn’t very big so there’s not much room to stand and wait. They were very accommodating once it was our turn to be seated. They pushed two tables together and provided extra chairs for us. They have a large menu with very interesting dishes. If you’re unfamiliar with Filipino food, you may feel a little overwhelmed and unsure of what to get. Luckily for me, I came with my boyfriend and his family who are Filipino, so they did all the ordering. We started with the fried pork intestines, which don’t sound very appetizing, but they were tasty and addictive. We also got different BBQ meats, which seem to be a popular choice. They were very well marinated and tasty, but the portions were a bit small. We also got the sisig, tasty but too much onion in it. Overall it was a tasty experience. Definitely would go back again on our next visit to NY. The owner was very friendly and welcoming.

I go here often. I prefer their food to the other restaurants. While I have nice things to say about the food and the ambiance, I do have negative things to remark on. The staff are friendly yet are inattentive. They never bring water around, only refilling when you ask. They do not ask how your meal is going and wait until you complain over undercooked lumpia(which was just thrown back into the deep fryer) to check up on you. They’re usually self-engrossed amongst themselves or whatever they have on TV. They take credit, but you have to meet the $ 20 minimum, meaning you can’t split it on two cards if the bill comes out to $ 39.23 — I tried that and they refused(despite that it goes against Visa/MC bylaws to refuse payment method based on a minimum over $ 10) so remember to bring cash or to order a lot of food. The pork BBQ and the lechon are great, as well as the Kare kare. Don’t bother with the spaghetti even if it’s «famous», because it’s basically tomato sauce and one sliced up hot dog.

I my husband and I usually go to Ihawan or Tito Rads. but decided to try Renee’s for a change. First off its really tight in there! We had our 9 month old son with us, so we need a highchair too. But anyways, we ordered the lumpia shanghai, kare kare, lechon kawali and beef caldereta. The egg rolls and lechon kawali were good! My favorite Filipino dish is kare kare so I’ve tried it everywhere and this one was pretty good, BUT, there were only 2 pieces of oxtail and the rest was vegetables and the sauce!!! At Ihawan they give plenty pieces of meat. So I wasn’t happy about that. Too bad because it was really good. The caldereta was also delish. So far I think we’ll come back, but the service is obviously not like a chain restaurant you get at normal places. There pretty much isn’t any lol

This is one of our favorite Filipino lunch places in Queens! They have a large menu that serves all sorts of Filipino delicacies and popular dishes. Our favorite is the palabok, spaghetti, sisig, kare-kare, barbecue, fried platters and more. We admire their drink menu; they have yummy alcoholic and non-alcoholic, tropical drinks(lychee, mango, kalamansi, coconut, etc.). The environment is very homey, which includes flatscreen televisions; they usually have TFC(The Filipino Channel) or some sports game on. I notice it has mostly Filipinos, but I hope you won’t feel out-of-place if you are a non-Filipino. Overall, the food is good and the price is right. This one of our go-to places when we have a Filipino craving. I heard they have a buffet upstairs, but we have yet to check that out!

This is my Filipino brunch spot. The silogs(fried rice, sunnyside eggs, any protien) are awesome. This is a place I go to when I randomly call in from work and treat myself to some lo-silog(longanisa) with some fried tamban(Sardines) when I feel for take out I go for crispy pata(fried pigs feet) and what ever catches my eye in the menu. Check it out! It’s alright!

Back again because it’s that good! Sometimes you just wanna have those family style dinner with friends or even families. The interior Resturant feel very comfy and festive during holiday seasons with decorations! Let’s get back on track with food! Though looking through the menu seems like there isn’t much options, you are wrong! There are so many good plates! You can’t go wrong with their spring roll as an appetizer! One person can even eat one plate of spring rolls since hey are so small yet delicious! As for entrees, order their mixed grill which contains pork, chicken, sausage and chicken kabob! They are all made so special with the marinated sauce they use! I love all of it! There’s also the big platter of meat that you can share with a group called«street food.» We ordered the street food that feeds up to 5 – 6 people which is insane! It’s so yummy! Must try! As for desserts, I’ve tried their halo halo, flan, and banana pudding. Their halo halo is interesting and a bit different. It’s just the amount of sweetness in it. The flan on the other hand was quite not what I expected. It tasted very cinnamonly, tho it was somewhat rich and smooth but wasn’t my cup of tea. The banana pudding was amazing! Love the mixture and richness of everything! It’s so addicting! One taste of it gets you wanting more and more. If you don’t want sweets, try their matcha green latte which is delicious as well! Can’t go wrong with Renee!

Love this place and will be back every time I visit! Came for a Saturday brunch with 3 other friends. Everyone NEEDED the Tocilog and we ordered sisig and a Grill Sample for everyone. Garlic fried rice was great! The tocino was the best I have had in restaurant setting. Wasn’t too dry the way most resto’s do. Longanisa was great and so was the BBQ pork! The first floor seating is tight though, so I wouldn’t recommend parties of more than 4 or 6. I’m not sure what the second floor is like. Only thing that I would change is the service time. For the type of food they offer, we had quite a wait. Overall, great restaurant solution to fill your Filipino cravings!

Consistent, friendly, hospitable, delicious Filipino cuisine: what else could you ask for? This is my go to spot in Queens for Flip food. We usually don’t have to wait long for a table. I must have tasted almost everything on the menu. Whenever I go here with the fam we typically order chicken/pork bbq, kare kare, sinigang, adobo, crispy pata and lumpiang shanghai. On most occasions we order more than we can eat. The sinigang na baboy is my favorite! It is sour soup w/tamarind base so it is more of an acquired taste, either you love it or you hate it. The adobo is decent, granted my mom’s cooking will always trump haha. The food never disappoints and I always leave with a smile. If you want authentic Filipino fare then come to Renee’s. Oh and don’t forget to leave room for dessert. Halo-halo will take care of your sweet tooth and is a perfect dessert for these hawt summer days.
