Don’t send your hard drive to this company, it’s a waste of $ 50(evaluation fee) and shipping. They’ll tell you what’s wrong with your hard drive but won’t fix it. They’ll just hold on to it for years until you tell them you want it back. Their excuse is «they can’t find a donor drive».

I’m curious as to others experience with this company — I took a chance on them as I’d seen some articles on hard drive repair by someone affiliated with the company. My experience was as follows: 1) Laptop hard drive fails. It is new enough as to be under warranty still, but we really want the data so we decide to look into recovery. Even if it takes a few months I figure I can still recover the data and then get the drive replaced(manufactures will replace an opened drive under warranty if the recovery company can indicate it was opened only for recovery). 2) Filled out all necessary forms, sent in bad hard drive in addition to a new one as requested for the recovered data to be transferred onto. There is a $ 50 fee for this, but that’s OK with me as it will take them some effort to diagnose the problem. 3) I received an e-mail letting me know they received the drive. 4) About a week and a half after receiving my drive they let me know the motor was seized and this could be fixed by doing a platter exchange. This would require a donor drive which could take some time to find a proper match. They would keep me posted on the progress. It has now been about 1 full year since they received my drive. I have received exactly 1 unsolicited e-mail to keep me updated on the progress. After a few months I asked if there were other options or how long do we search for before giving up and I have never been given any answer other than they are still looking. I am hesitant to give them such a bad review as I realize that finding a matching hard drive must be difficult(even if this wasn’t a super old drive), but the lack of communication on top of the failure justifys the rating I believe.
