I dropped off my bike for the smallest tune up. I’d cleaned it and adjusted it and then left it for a year in a garage so it was in need of a little tlc. I asked for the smallest package and a tool to true my tires since I could true them for cheaper. A week later I got the call to come pick up my bike. I was expecting a $ 40 plus tax price. $ 29.99 for the package and $ 10 for the tool. When I walked up to pay, the price I was quoted was $ 73.38. That’s nearly DOUBLE! I was shocked! After handing over my credit card since I hadn’t brought that much cash, I finally asked(I HAD to ask!!) why the price was so much higher and if I could see my work order. The lady behind the desk showed me the repair tag and said that they’d had to put on new brake cables and housing. She didn’t pause swiping me card and listen to my concerns while I asked questions. I know that I personally put on new brake and cable housing at a bike shop before I had stored my bike. For sure they needed trimming and adjusting, but they did not need replaced. For the sake of argument that they did need replaced, I never received a call asking if I wanted additional work done, what the cost would be, or any kind of notification. Yes, they did have my phone number. When I told them that I knew the brake assembly didn’t need completely replaced, the trite and curt answer I got was, «Well, we wouldn’t want you to ride out on a damaged bike.» The person that answered my question didn’t then stick around for me to discuss the work and any other questions but literally walked away as he was blowing me off. It was very inconsiderate and rude. I know I don’t look like someone that knows much about bikes, but I have trained in a bike shop and know how to do all the maintenance myself. It is a good thing for a shop to have the pride to send out well maintained and fixed bikes, but not in a cheating and flippant way. I walked out of that shop feeling cheated and demeaned by every employee I encountered. If they really care so much that no one leaves their store on a dangerous bike, then have a waiver I can sign saying I rejected the services they offered so they aren’t liable if my bike fails and I crash into a tree. Don’t just assume that people not wearing the latest gear and sporting this years bike don’t know what they’re doing. And certainly don’t treat them as such. I would never ever in a million years go back to the store or recommend anyone else to go there either. I have told everyone I encountered with a bicycle in Wooster about my experience and to steer clear of Ride On and I will continue to tell everyone!

Great shop! I brought in a beat up bike in disrepair and Bill gave me an accurate estimate on the cost to restore it to working order. I live on the east coast and was debating whether it would be cheaper to ship the bike in disrepair and bring it to one of the numerous local shops where I live, but Ride On was able to fix the bike and ship it for less than the estimate of other shops in my area! Great place and very reasonable prices. Thanks Ride On!

I am getting ready to move from Wooster to a major metropolitan area and will be bicycle commuting to work. I called Ride On to see if they had any Giant Roam 2 bicycles in stock. I talked to Bill who told me they had a 2015 in the box and he’d build it for me to come look at. It was built and ready when I arrived at the store a few hours later. I was also wondering if I should wait and just buy the bike when I get to my new city rather than bother with moving it. However, Ride On was significantly cheaper than the prices quoted at bike shops where I am moving. Even though I came to the shop with a model in mind, Bill still had me ride 5 or 6 other models and styles by other manufacturers. He was very helpful answering questions about features, pros, cons, etc. I did end up buying the Roam 2 and some accessories which Ride On fitted to the bike in the time it took me to go next door and drink a coffee. Purchasing bicycles at Ride On comes with a free 1 hour lesson to make sure you know how to get the most out of your bike. They also give you a free 30-day tune up. I am a novice cyclist, but I would definitely recommend Ride On to friends.

My family and I are relative newcomers to biking around town and on the towpath in akron. In the three years since we have started I have bought five new bikes and shopped or called around to just about all in the Akron area, and this is where I have landed even though it is the furthest shop from my house. Friendly staff and seem to have exactly what I want when I have called or stopped in and their prices are great! I have bought my last 2 bikes here and they also have had quick turnarounds on service… Ride on!

My wife and I have had many very positive experiences with Ride On. I’m not sure what happened with M C, but when my wife was in the market for a new bike we were transitioning from Columbus to Wooster and so we shopped in both cities and multiple stores. She told Bill her budget and what she wanted and Bill made it happen. We have been loyal to them since and purchased a number of items from them, and they, in turn have given us a good deal on most everything we get. They organize a weekly group ride on Tuesday nights during the spring, summer and fall with four groups of varying speeds and distances. They also sponsor a cycling team. Needless to say, they do a lot for cycling in Wayne County and we love their shop. Bill can come across a little gruff, but he and the whole staff will take the time to answer your questions and make sure you get the right fit and the right bike. We love having this shop in town.
