Libis got our domain server back up when it went down unexpectedly and wouldn’t restore from backups. The warnings should have gone up when he said that he could replace the hard drives to be sure that everything was OK by buying new ones at Best Buy. What technology company doesn’t have a couple of hard drives in storage?! Because the operating system on the server was not recoverable, we had to start over, however he did not seem too interested in what was important to our business in terms of getting our network back up, instead wanting to work on things like remote desktop, which was of zero consequence to our business. He kept saying that he had to rush to do the project and didn’t have time to plan it out and see how our network was set up. He was charging on site rates while he sat at his shop and ran hardware tests for hours. That would have been a good time to look at things, but instead he kept repeating the same line about how he had been doing this for 16 years, he knew what he was doing. When he reconnected the machines to the server and documents disappeared that I had been working on offline though, all of a sudden he had never seen that. The thing that really put me over was how he said that the offline documents I had been working on were most likely gone and then when he went to leave 2 minutes later said he normally gets paid 50% up front. 50% of what?! I didn’t have a single invoice from him to know what his supposed balance was. That night I got 2 emails from his company, one with an invoice showing on site rates for work done at his shop, which is clearly not reasonable as he can work on other projects there while the software installs, and another telling me that they had installed the new operating system with an invalid key so it would restart every hour unless I sent them an additional $ 525 for a valid key. Windows activation showed I had 55 days left to activate and under no circumstance does the server ever restart every hour without being activated. I bought a key from for $ 320 and voila, fixed. Libis then emailed me multiple times about when should he expect payment(less than 7 days from date of service), calling, etc. Any [reputable] business operates on net 30 days. Hounding me for payment days after work was [shoddily] completed is just another sign of a poor business. After looking to see if anyone else had any negative experiences with libis and instead finding I am glad that we parted ways when we did. I’m glad the server is back up, but we are still working to lean up the mess from Libis’s work. There are other tech companies in Worcester. Use them.
