Only had dessert tonight. It was lovely. I had Oreo ice-cream cake and my partner cannoli. The special coffee with white chocolate and other things was delightful. Looking forward to going back for a full meal next time. I was salivating when i looked on others’ plates. The waitress was delightful and friendly.

Wonderful Saturday night find! Awesome waitress, out of this world antipasto, great dinner choices! We were both happy. Can’t wait to eat my leftovers. Can’t wait to go back!

This is my first time EVER ordering food for the holidays, but this year I did. I ordered lasagna, ziti with four cheese, antipasto and italian bread for 25 people. The food was amazing — great blend of cheese on the lasagna and ziti. The antipasto was chuck full of everything! Everyone thought the food was great and we had plenty of leftovers This will definitely become a new tradition in our home. Also the staff was very friendly with any questions that I had,

Happened to go here on a Thursday around 6pm, which happened to be quite fortunate as it was relatively empty and because they have all you can eat pasta and salad on Thursdays. We had the Chef’s special sauce, which tonight happened to be a simply amazing pink sauce, with sausage and meatball for myself and my friend respectively. The waitress was friendly and the service was impeccable. The food was excellent I only wish I could’ve eaten more, I’ll have to prepare myself for the next all you can eat trip there.

My search for a great local Italian restaurant continues. Although the gal bringing the bread and water was very sweet, the server was almost rude. When I asked for a knife(mine was taken with the appetizer plate), she took her time to get one, and handed it to me. She couldn’t be bothered to be sure to actually had it– no eye contact, not one word, and it was nearly dropped. That was just one of many things to share. Just very strange. There are so many places to go, there is no reason to go back. The food was okay, but not great. The atmosphere was diner-like, but the prices were high. Large portions were served– but not of meats and veggies– lots of pasta. Pasta was from a box– and not a good brand. Disappointing all the way around.

We were very excited to try La Scala and were dying to use our gift certificate that we’d saved for a nice night out. It is really small and intimate which isn’t a bad thing and makes it really cozy. We grabbed seats at the bar and decided it was pretty comfortable, so we chose to stay there for dinner. The bartender who was also our server was really sweet and very attentive. The food was great! I had the seafood fra diavlo and my husband had veal rollatini. What’s keeping this review from more starts is that the woman whom I“m assuming is the owner, was running food from the kitchen to the tables. As our seats were at the end of the bar and right next to the service door to the kitchen, plates were being placed next to me on the bar before being picked up and delivered to the tables. Curious to see what some of the food looked like, I happened to glance over at the plates that were sitting there. And that’s when it happened. The woman snatches the plates back up and says, «those are not yours!» scolding me like a 5 yr old. I did not have a fork in my hand, nor was I drooling or licking the plate. I simply looked. I kept hoping that I misunderstood her or what she meant, but my husband, who is usually the one to talk me off the ledge if I get upset about things like this, wholeheartedly agreed that the only way to take this was that she was flat out RUDE to me. Meanwhile, she seemed very pleasant to other diners and made her rounds to check on everyone’s experience. Pretty much everyone in the whole place — except us. I’d like to say we’ll go back because it was so good, but it’s not happening. I’m crossing it off my list.

We have become regulars. Never a bad meal or service. The vodka pasta is amazing and the salads are huge. Best value on Shrewsbury Street and beyond.

They seat you on time if you make reservations. After ordering, we didn’t see our waitress for another hour. The apps are good but it took an hour and a half for our dinner to come out and the food was small portioned and mediocre at best. Their food isn’t very flavorful and expect bad service.

Visited La Scala for my first time this past Saturday. Such a cute place! The inside is quite small though and the bar barely accommodated our party of seven for a pre-dinner cocktail but we didn’t mind. We had reservations outside and the outside dining is great. I had the seafood paella which was one of the best meals I’ve had in ages. Tons of seafood over a perfectly cooked risotto. Another person in our party had the seafood fra diavlo which I’m definitely trying next as it was HUGE. the other dishes ordered didn’t look as good though and my companions weren’t impressed. The chicken broccoli was dry and had no sauce at all and the chicken Marsala was bland. But mine was great and id definitely recommend!!!

So this place is(or was) a place where everybody went to get their antipasto with sausage. They always made the best salad which was served in a massive portion for cheap cheap cheap! So we went on Valentines Day in the mid afternoon(only dipshits go out that evening to get a limited menu… here’s the thing about La Scala… it sucks, $ 1.50 for 2 pieces of ice cold bread, the place was 15 degrees colder than comfortable, the waitress served two cups of cold soup, the soup was essentially flavorless after they microwaved it… the antipasto is still good but it’s not nearly as good as it used to be. The cold cuts are practically minced and the sausage is cut into ¼ inch strips and overcooked! The cheap owner didn’t put the heat on and we heard two other couples complaining. It’s a shame that this place is bad now…

My husband and I ate dinner here for the first time last time and really enjoyed it. We sat on the patio, which was really great once the sun went down(a little hot before that). We had drinks, oysters(for him) and shrimp cocktail(for me) along with a basket of fresh bread and plate of dipping oil that every table gets. I’m told the oysters were good. The shrimp cocktail was very nice and served flat on a little plate with what seemed to be a homemade sauce that was slightly chunky and good as well a small mound of what looked like a horseradish spread(i didn’t try it). For entrees I ordered a haddock special, which was delicious. I chose spinach as my side dish and I got a heap of it — lightly sauteed with a little olive oil, garlic and lemon. I could have made a meal out of just that. My foodie husband ordered the seafood diavolo and said it was«fine»(while he was eating I asked him to rate it on a scale of 1 — 10 he gave it a 4). He says that the shellfish was fresh and good but the addition of a piece of sausage seemed strange to him. Also, the dish was topped with about 10 pieces of fried calamari which was definitely odd and wrong — he likes calamari but not where they don’t belong. He picked it off and did not eat it. Finally, he says the tomato sauce was far too heavy for the dish, which should have either a white sauce or a very light, fresh marinara. Since we’d come this far, we had to have dessert and they have one item, cannoli, but you can either have a plain/traditional shell, chocolate dipped or a plain shell with the ends only dipped in chocolate. They were fresh and delicious and the espresso was very good. Our waitress was terrific. We’d told her when we sat down that we wanted to just hang out for a while with our drinks and appetizers before ordering and that we were not in a hurry. Her pacing was great and we never felt rushed. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening and we will definitely go back. Our bill was about $ 100 before tip but you can absolutely have a good meal for much less. Someone at a nearby table ordered pizza and an antipasto and both looked fabulous. Definitely two thumbs up for La Scala.

We chose to go out to dinner in Worcester as a half way point to get family together from MA and CT. We found this restaurant online and made a reservation for 8 people. When we arrived we realized we somehow made a reservation for the La Scala restaurant in Indiana! We were sure that with a party of 8 on a Saturday night that we would never get a seat in this restaurant since it was so small. However, the staff there was extremely helpful and friendly and were able to accommodate us. We sat down right away and ordered the antipasto and a pizza for an appetizer, followed by dinner. The food was unbelievable! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We had brought in our own small birthday cake and they took it out back and plated it for us on chocolate drizzled dishes. A wonderful experience and you can’t beat the price. I am definitely going to come back here! I would recommend making a reservation and make sure you have the correct location when you do :)

Tried this place out with my husband last week. The menu looked great on the website, and it looked like they might have a good husband and wife team of chefs working behind the scenes. When we got there, we were shocked at how small the place was. Intimate is an understatement. This place might fit 30 people max. However, the dining room is very well designed, and eclectic. When we got there, the place was full, so we were offered to wait at the bar for when a table would be available. We were told 20 – 30 minutes, but the actual wait was closer to an hour. We were seated in a table toward the front. The tables are so close together, the hostess actually had to slide the table over so I could go around it(and not bump into the other diners next to us). We were also seated near people who had finished their meals and were nursing their drinks, and unfortunately the tight space didn’t bode well with the noise level of the neighboring guests. Bread and oil was the first thing to arrive to the table, and while we were a little shocked that the bread was cold, we were very impressed with the bread. It was soft, dense, and delicious. The olive oil had just enough seasoning, and I was surprised that I liked it, since I usually don’t care for dipping my bread in oil. I asked the server if they made the bread in house and she said they didn’t, but they brought it in from a bakery in Rhode Island. I also asked her about desserts, and I also asked if the desserts were made in house. She said they didn’t make the desserts, and even though she didn’t know where they ordered the desserts from, she took the time to ask. I can’t remember the bakery, but it’s a place in Worcester. Since we didn’t order dessert I can’t comment on them in any more detail. We ordered a caesar salad to share, and unfortunately I was disappointed. The romaine lettuce was a mixture of white and yellow in color. It was as close to iceberg as a romaine could get. The caesar dressing had little to no flavor, and I was concerned it might be just mayo. The croutons were obviously made of the same bread we were served, and they were the best part of the salad. Our server was truly wonderful, the food was served quickly, our glasses were kept full, food was served hot, etc. We have no complaints with the service. I ordered a chicken parm, and my husband ordered the veal parm. We thought this would be a great way to compare La Scala to other Italian restaurants we have been to in the area. The portions were very large. The cheese on top was very good, but I felt it could have used more cheese. The chicken was cooked very well. The biggest let down for me was the sauce. I was hoping a home made sauce would mean a fresh tomato sauce, but unfortunately this was not the case. The sauce was very dark in color, and while it was not a bad sauce, it was not what we have come to expect at the best Italian places(fresh tomato, garlic, fresh basil – simple and full of flavor). The presentation of both plates was beautiful, and I’m sure if we brought friends from out of town here, they’d love it. Unfortunately, the food here was mediocre at best, and we will probably not return, since we enjoy other places much more. While La Scala is a really cute, well decorated restaurant with excellent service, their food just doesn’t measure up to other options in the Boston/Worcester area.

Came here with my dad last week. Food was delicious! We ordered their signature antipasto with Italian sausage on top. We had a small to split between the two of us and there was more than enough for a starter. We then ordered their muscles in white wine sauce. Fantastic! A huge bowl was put in front of us. The only problem was a lack of room at the table for two! We finally ordered the penne a la vodka with chicken. They brought out a HUGE portion! Glad we both chose to split it! We even ended up taking some home! With everything being so delicious, we both have been craving it ever since! Especially the antipasto! Only downside is that they are closed on Sundays. That just means we need to plan ahead!

Our favorite Italian around. Really cute place, nice outdoor patio right on Shrewsbury St. The food is awesome and super fresh. Lots of choices and bread/oil while you wait. We like it much better than Via and it’s much more appropriately priced!

Went to La Scala on Halloween for dinner. First let me say that my boyfriend is a strict vegetarian. I had noticed many meatless menu options on their online menu but he was a bit nervous still, so I called the restaurant. One of the chefs answered the phone and told me that his red sauce never has any meat and that anything that appears to be meatless on the menu absolutely is! So if you happen to be a vegetarian, you are in luck here! We were seated right away and immediately offered drinks, including their cute Halloween cocktail specials. I had the«Caspertini» and my bf had the«Witches Brew». Both quite delicious and good sized! Bread with a dipping oil came out right away as well and even though we didn’t need a 2nd basket of bread, that immediately followed when our 1st basket was empty. We ordered this yummy salad to split. Thank goodness we decided to split it because it was HUGE! This salad could have been a full entrée for both of us! It had apples, cranberries, cheese, walnuts(or were they pecans? I forget) and a great light dressing. So good! He ordered the eggplant parm, which came with linguini, and said it was very good. I ordered the porterhouse with garlicky spinach and roasted potatoes. Steak was good, not great, but the sides were a wonderful garlicky yumminess. Both entrees were so large that we both had half to bring home for the next day. We finished the night with a piece of chocolate raspberry ganache cake. Overall for 4 cocktails, the large salad, 2 huge entrees, and dessert our bill was around $ 85 or $ 90. We both thought that that was quite reasonable considering all we ordered. Overall a great evening out. We will definitely be back to La Scala! So glad we found this little gem!

Cute and intimate, I’d bring a date here. Full bar, bread with olive oil, friendly staff, quality food. It was a Sunday when I went, so we had to choose from the Sunday menu, but everything sounded amazing. We went for the pizza because the price was just too good. The margherita and vegetable pizzas were both rustic and delicious, with the perfect thinness of the crust. My friend had her 5 month-old baby with her, and she hesitated when she saw how classy it looked inside La Scala, preferring to go to a more casual and more spacious setting in case the baby got fussy later. But the waitstaff was so inviting and made us feel very welcomed. They even seemed entertained by the baby. I never really noticed this place among all the other loud restaurant signs on Shrewsbury street, esp when it comes to Italian food, and I only came here because my friend had either a groupon or livingsocial deal. It was hard to find the restaurant, because the sign is kind of small and hard to make out, at least I thought it was. In any case, I may have developed this image of La Scala as the underdog of Shrewsbury Street restaurants because they don’t seem cocky and pretentious like the rest, but I genuinely liked my overall experience here and I just hope they continue to do really well!
