Under management of the Worcester Historical Society, the Salisbury Mansion is one of the few remaining examples of 18th century architecture. Built prior to the Revolutionary War, the«mansion» was once part store and part residence, serving the customers who were traveling between Boston and Springfield and other points west. The home is called a «mansion» due to its size when built in the 1700’s, and it is quite large. Period furniture, knowledgeable guides, many items are originals to the property, or careful accurate reproductions. Some of the furniture has been tracked down over the last few decades and purchased for return to its home. You are just a short walk to the amazing Worcester Art Museum, and the beautiful architecture found in Lincoln Square, along with the brownstone Worcester Armory.
