Suburban Extended Stay Hotel

Lot of bang for your buck. I’ve seen a lot of reviews commenting on the lack of cleanliness. This was not the case for me. Facility was well kept and the staff was polite and helpful. I would stay again when I come back to Worcester.

After another hotel in Worcester conveniently «lost» our reservation, we were set up in the Surburban Extended Stay Hotel for a weekend trip to downtown. On first arrival, we were told that we would be placed in a recently renovated room… so recently renovated that there was someone still in the bathroom trying to install a vent… to another room we went. The new room, smelling far less like paint and more like a malodorous mystery scent emanating from the kitchen was our next stop.
At first glance, the room appeared pretty standard… living room with couch, desk, armchair, and flat screen tv… kitchen with refrigerator/​freezer, sink, oven, and cabinetry, bathroom, and bedroom with 2 queen size beds and another tv. The longer we stayed though, the more problems we discovered. The couch was stiff as a board… the living room closet opened up to some sort of machinery surrounded by the biggest dustballs I’ve ever seen in a hotel room… the oven wouldn’t stay open on its own, would slam shut on our arms, and was missing an outer cover to the door… the «fleece» blankets on the beds were crinkly and stiff… light switches flipped on an off with no apparent effect… the rug was bunched up so much in spots throughout the space that we constantly tripped over it… the inner door handle to the room was covered in white paint… the list goes on and on.
The staff (when around/​available) were nice enough but difficult to find when needed. Almost every time I passed by the front desk it was vacant. On more than one occasion, I witnessed staff given people checking out a hard time about the hotel’s non-​smoking policy. For example, a couple was walking out… was stopped by the front desk staff to see if they wanted a receipt… then proceeded to ask if the couple had smoked in the room and to remember that there would be an extra charge if they had… the couple stated they hadn’t and the staff continued on to say that if they smelled anything they would charge. They said they didn’t… just leave it at that.
I would never stay here again… there wasn’t enough parking late night on returning to the hotel and I shouldn’t feel as though I should have to «tolerate» a room at $ 150/​night.
