A good place to get your drink on and hear some live music. The place was packed, but good fast service. Fair priced beers with guitar music to boot. Definitely a dive bar with authentic regulars and a friendly feel.

The Chieftain was generous enough to donate their space to a very worthy fundraiser this past weekend. The food was homemade, so this review is only about the staff and space. With a tent set up in their parking lot, and the bar filled wall to wall with people, the staff did a good job of keeping their cool and serving everyone in a timely manner. At times it looked like a Jon Taffer stress test, but the bartenders kept up a good pace. The bar has a nice layout, which I imagine when not overflowing with people, works nicely and can accommodate musical acts. The prices are also reasonable; Revolution’s Anti Hero at $ 4.75 is not an easy find. I would definitely come back when in the area.

This place is pretty nice. Great service, love the bartenders, all very friendly. Went on a couple nights with live music, the bands were good and gave it a nice atmosphere. We sat in the back area with the darts and such to escape from the loud music. Fun area. Never tried the food, only drank beers and irish car bombs(they make em good). Fair prices. This place is nothing spectacular but it’s a nice place to hang out with some friends on the weekend

Love this bar! Nice place to chill with friends. Most authentic Irish pub I’ve been to on the Southside. Not the best specials if you’re looking for a cheap night though

Excellent pints. This isn’t a faux Irish designed bar, this is an Irishman’s bar. I’m usually the only Irish American in the place. I haven’t had the food yet but I will keep coming back for the very laid back atmosphere. Great neighborhood tavern.

This is a middle aged bar and it seems very male dominated. The look and the service of this bar is excellent. The food is a different story. They also could use some more modern television sets to go along with the other décor that makes this place a ok bar. Nothing to spectacular as it is another irish bar in the burbs.

Chieftans was converted from a biker bar that existed for many years. Service and friendliness were notable. The décor was appealing considering what it used to be. Food selection is very limited, and why do they have to have nachos on the menu? If they are going to have such a limited menu then they should really get away from the mexican and italian fast food and focus on real pub-like food. They are giving the Irish bars a bad name by offering other ethnic junk food. Why not just add peogies to the menu, they have good ones at Fairplay down the street, they are better than nachos! I had the Sheppards Pie, which was okay, but a little too much potato and it was dry. My husband had the Rueben which was pretty good. The food needs to be stepped up in order to generate more returning customers. I would not return for the food but I would for the pub like atmosphere at this point.

Ok, before I get into nitpicking, I’ll say that the bangers and mash were quite good. I’ve had better. I’ve had worse. But all in all, decent food. Homemade, filling, generous portions for the price. The wife had Bacon and Cabbage, and she enjoyed it too with about the same feeling… average and typical. I’d return with out a doubt. Now, for the nitpicking. We were craving fish and chips, and since moving to Worth, have yet to find a near-by place to satisfy those cravings. So we enter for our first time, and impressed enough by the appearance, when offered menus, we said«that’s ok. We’ll take the fish and chips.» The next thing we heard has had my blood boiling ever since. «sorry dear. fish and chips is British. That is not served here, this is an Irish pub.» Now… I think to myself. Ok… fair enough. Historically i guess she is right. Fish and chips is from the UK. Never mind the fact the fact that some of the best fish and chips Ive had have been from Irish Pubs both here and on the other side of the pond. Never mind that i don’t think i’ve ever been to an Irish pub that hasn’t has fish and chips on the their menu(no comment on quality mind you… just stating a fact. Maybe good on them for opting to not serve it at all, as opposed to serving frozen, reheated garbage like the local Jack Desmonds.) Anyway… she brings us the menus. Appetizers. No Guinness cheese crock. No smoked salmon. Nothing with corned beef or soda bread. You know… typical Irish fare. Instead we had to choose from ceviche, bruschetta, nachos and cheese. Pass. Main plates included a corned beef sandwich, but also some Santa Fe chicken wrap, fried shrimp something-or-other, a pasta of some sort, pulled pork sandwich, and various other non-Irish foods. Then it had a special little traditional Irish food section. four items. bangers and mash, shepherds pie, bacon and cabbage, and chicken curry. Now I’m not saying that because they lacked fish and chips they are not a valid or authentic Irish pub. As the waitress pointed out, fish and chips is British. And as I pointed out, I’d rather they not served it at all than served some disgusting rendition. But to tell me you don’t serve it because this is an Irish pub, not a British one, and then produce a menu with not a single Irish appetizer, and where only four of the thirty dinner plates are Irish is well… a little silly. As is my complaining about it i guess.
