Just lost 11 minutes of my life I will never get back. Servers will not even acknowledge our presence. They really need to get their act together.

My friend and I decided to come to Bourbon because we were excited that a Cajun restaurant was close to our house. HUGEASSMISTAKE!!! The food was absolutely disgusting. I’m surprised this place is still open. Probably because they have a liquor license and ppl come in to drink other than that I would rather eat prison food for the rest of my life and not eat at this dump. We had the Voodo Chicken Nachos as an appetizer. HUGEASSMISTAKE! The chicken tasted a week old and I even bit into a piece of chicken that was half frozen. I decided to order the sautéed perch another HUGEASSMISTAKE… the perch tasted rotten as f&#k and had this sauce on it that legit tasted like bile. For the first time ever in my life I had the waitress take my plate back. She gave me the menu to order something else but I said I was straight. This place WILL be and should be closed. Disgusted to the nth degree! Guys please don’t go here… please!

I’ve waited a couple weeks to write this review to let myself calm down a bit. It hasn’t really changed my opinion. On my birthday 1⁄9 my wife called to make a reservation for 9 of us 4 adults and 5 kids. When we showed up the hostess told us she had just recently found out about our reservation and accidentally gave our table away but that she would get a table cleaned right away so we can be seated. After about five minutes another woman comes by and asks if we’d been helped. We told her the situation. She replied in a snotty, aggressive tone: «I was the only one up here all day and i didn’t take a reservation.»(Then how did the hostess know? Hmmm). We eventually get seated, no huge deal. It happens. We get sat and give our drink ans apps order. After a bit of a wait(~10m) our hostess returns with our drinks. She stated she’d return for our order in a minite. I said«we’re ready now if you are.» «I have to go handle something. Ill be right back, I’m sorry.» 25m pass. No one comes back. Our waitress was clearing a table and then disappeared. After another 5 we finally see the original woman with the bad attitude. We alert her of the situation. In the same attitude as before«I don’t know what’s going on but I’ll see if I can track her down.» «Can’t you help us? We’ve been waiting a long time and our table wasn’t ready when we arrived. We’d like to eat. Is there a manager we can speak to? Or is the owner here?(We had seen her not five minutes before running around another part of the dining room» «Actually, I am the manager. I never got a reservation call today… so I don’t know what happened there. Idon’t think the owner is here. I’ll find your waitress.» Another 10m pass. The«manager» returns and asks if we want any more apps while we wait. «No, we’d just like to order before the party of 25 gets their order in.» «I’ll get your waitress. They are still ordering drinks.» Waitress returns and the rest of the night carries on pretty much as normal. Food comes. It was very average. I guess it would be great cajun food if you’ve never had cajun food. My rice that the entrée was on was cold. The entrees were very small.(Who has ever heard of a 6oz catfish fillet?). The manager never returned to ask us if everything was now OK. We never were offered compensation for their horrible service or her awful attitude. What’s worse: we never even got an apology. Stuff happens, I get it. But anyone can be a great server or manager when everything is going well. When things break down that’s how you judge quality service. No one at Bourbon’s was interested in helping us. No one cared that we waited an hour from arrival to getting our food when the restaurant was mostly empty when we sat down(the 25 party came after). I don’t often leave poor reviews based on a single bad interaction. I’ve had drinks and lunch here before. However, when I get awful sevice and told by a manager that I’m wrong and no one does anything to help… you get a bad review. You won’t get a return visit from me.

I came in with a party of 17 last night to celebrate my 35th birthday. I brought friends with me who had never had a good experience here, and last night was the last straw for them. First of all, I had called to up the reservation on Friday around 6ish, and I was told ok we’ll do that. When I called on Saturday to change the number again, the girl who answered on Friday never changed it. My friend ordered steak and was told about 20 – 30 minutes later that they were out. The server was not around when the owner verbally told her staff… because, you know, she was busy with a table of 17. My friend’s husband spoke with the owner who was rude to him and said«well what do you want me to do», when it should’ve been«what can I do for you?» When our food came out, no one was helping our server. She made multiple trips back and forth to bring out our dishes. We thought maybe they were all busy, but when we looked there were only a few other tables. Half of the party’s food was great. The others… one’s hamburger was well done with no garnishes. Two ordered the same thing but were cold. One was sent back and clearly microwaved. My friend who had to reorder something different, was ok with the perch she got but the vegetables were cold. My parmesan crusted turkey sandwich wasn’t the greatest, sloppily put together with 2 slices of deli style turkey and my fries were very cold but I didn’t say anything because of how disappointed I was that my guests were unhappy. Between my family, friends and sorority, I plan a lot of dinners. This was the worst experience I’ve had. We were a group of people who frequent Wyandotte businesses, some even working within the downtown area. We were not looking for anything free, but maybe a little compassion from the owner. Our server was outstanding. I will finish by saying that I’ve worked in the restaurant business as a manager/owner’s daughter, so I understand unreasonably angry customers. This wasn’t the case. I understand kitchen mishaps here and there, but not multiple plates within one party.

Excellent food. The gumbo is on point. The étouffée was fantastic. I didn’t think I could get New Orleans flavor and quality in SE Michigan but thanks to Bourbon’s on Sycamore I can now do that! So Happy!

Food is okay but service is very slow! Have a decent beer selection but slow to initially get drinks. I have given this place 2nd, 3rd&4th tries now and they can’t seem to get quicker service, at anything!

Stopped in on a whim after the Wyndotte Farmers Market really enjoyed the meal. My wife had some kind of chicken sandwich she said was good. I had a cup of crawfish gumbo which was great and thick; really tasty. I had a Bayou Bleu Burger which is your standard bacon Bleu Cheese Burger but it was good, nice size, and with a large portion of homemade BBQ chips, which also real tasty. My son enjoyed a meat lovers pizza. I tried a slice and it was quality. They offer a large selection of hot sauces and craft beer. Prices are right, considering quantity and quality.

ok, so I’ve been here a few times and decided against writing a review because I want to encourage local businesses. I’m hoping someone reads this and starts to train their waitstaff on what their selection of whiskey & bourbons is all about because no one really has a clue. I mean the place is called bourbons after all. This place is. just OK… the food is just OK… the service is … just OK and that’s why I’m giving this place 2 stars. I’ve experienced better.

I have to update this review a third time. I took my wife here after convincing her it has gotten better than her first visit. What a mistake. I was praising how good the shrimp po boy was and that she had to try it. First off the waitstaff had to wipe out table down we arrived and it still was not clean after she did. She didn’t tell us any specials or anything. Just went right into asking us if we are ready to order. My wife ordered the shrimp po boy, I decided to try something new, I got the ny strip. My steak was the weirdest looking cut of a NY Strip I have even seen. It looked as though they had taken a larger strip and cut it lengthwise making my cut a long sliver of a steak that was mainly fat and gristle. The taste of what was there was ok at best. My wife took one bite of her po boy and I was expecting her to love it. She said nothing. I asked how it was she said ok. So I tried it and it was disgusting. Tasted nothing like the others I have had there. The mayo had no spice as before, the shrimp tasted old and rubbery and the bread ing had no flavor. The bread was not fresh as before. It was sad. So here is my biggest complaint about this place. Once again I decide to order some whiskey, which is suppose to be what this place is about. I order the Sazerac Rye neat. The waitress just looks at me dumbfounded. She asks what is that? This is par for the course for this place. Not one staff member I have met there knows anything about what they have. I point out to her what I want on their drink menu. A good amount of time goes by, we already have our appetizer and she returns saying they are out of it. I pick another and have to show her again on the menu. More time goes by she returns with a ½ pour of the Sazerac on the rocks and was all happy that they were able to get that out of the bottle. It must have been sitting long at the bar because the ice was half melted. I tell her I didn’t order it on the rocks I ordered neat and that I did t want it, and this is the best part she says«well what do you want me to do with this?» My wife feeling uncomfortable now just tells her we will take it. What a joke. If I ever go back to this place it will only be to have a drink, at the bar, where I can watch the staff pour my drink and make sure they know what I want. I was very upset at the way the waitstaff acted and how uncomfortable she made us feel as customers for her mistake.

Came here with a couple friends because we heard they had a vast craft beer draft list. It did not disappoint. Had Saugatuck Neapolitan Milk Stout and Griffin Claw Flying Buffalo Bourbon Imperial Stout. Food was good. Service was kinda slow considering our waitress only had one other table. Overall good experience and love the variety of beer on draft. Would definitely return.

This place is great! Had the prime rib special with cajun roasted potatoes! DELICIOUS! The prime rib melted in my mouth, it was so tender. The cajun roasted potatoes were yummy, also. Just the right amount of spice. The service was also outstanding. The has a great beer menu, too Highly recommend!

I don’t know if I came on the wrong day but I had a miserable experience here. I came here for lunch one day and they were horribly unprepared for customers. They had one waitress serving the entire restaurant, and she was so frazzled she kept forgetting parts of our order, bringing a kid’s drink cup with no lid, oops forgot the silverware, oops they screwed up how to cook a couple of our dishes, oops sorry it took over and hour to get your food, and so on. I had been here on two previous occasions and I generally enjoyed my meal but not this time. The roux made for the gumbo tasted more burnt than it should. The crawfish étouffée tasted like it should have been cooked further. The shrimp on my jambalaya were under seasoned. I won’t ever come back here and I can’t really recommend the place to anyone else either.

I went here on a Sunday afternoon. The décor is really nice and comfortable. I had the pulled pork pizza which was amazing. They have a good menu selection with decent prices. I wasn’t thrilled with our waitress, she spent most of her time on her phone. Definitely a nice place to go hang out.

Excellent drink selection with tons of great craft beers! Everything from Founders bourbon barrel Scotch ales to PBR. The beer menu is constantly changing but needlessly confusing. «At bat» means currently on tap and«on deck» means next to be served, but the baseball metaphor does not match the restaurant’s Cajun theme. The food looks pretty good if a bit pricey for the area. Try the Cajun fries with ranch!

Second time we were greeted immediately. Food was a tad expensive for what was received but that is up for debate. Pizza was unbelievably good. Gumbo was something else I would recommend. Shrimp creole, not so much. Biggest downfall was their lack of originality on the kids meals. While I enjoyed the Cajun food, thinking kids wouldn’t is wrong. Not every kid wants chicken tenders, hot dogs, and grilled cheese. Kids ended up sharing meals which saved us a little $$.

Went there hearing good and bad things about this place. We went on a Saturday night and when we got there it felt like they had to make a table for us(almost like they didn’t have enough room but we can put you here kind of thing) It was really busy due to a band playing which is a good thing, nothing worse than going to a place and it is quiet as can be and it just breeds an awkward vibe. Anyways, we were seated and not seen by our waitress for 10 minutes. Just as we felt we should get up and leave, we did get greeted, but our waitress was in a rush(probably because they were understaffed) We could not have been an easier table, we ordered two mixed drinks and ordered two chicken quesadillas at the same time… we even had been told from our waitress that we are going to be an easy table. We waited another 10 – 15 minutes and our waitress forgot our drink order and then gave us our drinks(the drinks were beyond weak). After another few minutes our food arrived. The bright spot here is that our quesadillas actually tasted really good. We did ask for some sour cream and here is where we just gave up. The waitress completely forgot us again and after basically finishing our food, she realized her mistake and got us our side. I have to say… my girlfriend and I are extremely easy going people, we just wanted a quick drink and an app with some good atmosphere. I didn’t want to deal with such simple problems we had. I mean any opportunity our waitress had with us was done poorly… extremely poorly. She apologized, but it was almost laughable how bad our service was. I love to support local business, but I truly feel whoever is in charge of this place has an uphill battle. Good luck to you guys, I hope you figure it out but I can’t recommend this place in any way, shape or form. The two stars is for the food being 100% better than the service, without the food quality this place is a one star dumpster fire

I recently came into Bourbons with a group of friends. They have a very good beer selection which I thought was awesome. I ordered the bourbon Burger one of my friends ordered the pulled pork and my other friend ordered the special(which was Prime rib), we all decided to share each other’s meals to try the food. My Bourbon burger came with house made bbq potato chips which were very good my burger had melted cheese bourbon bbq sauce and grilled onion along with raw onion tomatoe and lettuce the meat in the burger was very bland the bbq sauce was tasty. The prime rib special was tougher than chewing leather the flavor of the prime rib was good I only took a few bites because my mouth was getting a work out. The pulled pork which came with sweet potato fries was very good.. The server we had was just meh.(could of been nicer about the Prime rib.)

We went there last night for the first time with my 84-year old mom. I had been told that they weren’t all that great, but I wanted to decide for myself. Mom is very particular; and is best made happy by a BLT, so the chef made one for her even though it was not on the menu she was happy with it, but not the chips.(homemade) that came with it because they were, «Too spicy.» I tasted them and felt they were delicious. I ordered a spinach salad with chicken among other things and it was meh. The dressing, which seemed to be homemade, had a lot of flavor, but the items on the salad itself seemed lost in a sea of spinach. I certainly got my greens, but not much of the rest! My husband had the jambalaya which he liked. I sense the problem here is something else; something beyond food or service,(service was good.) Their name is «Bourbons» but there was little else that extended that theme. My sister said, «They can’t decide if they want to be a cozy bourbon place, or a sports bar.» I tend to agree. I saw bourbon on the menu, but mostly ones I didn’t want, like Makers Mark. The others were so expensive for a 1.5 oz. pour, I didn’t go there. Bourbon, being the great American beverage it is, should be highlighted, celebrated, enjoyed! As it is, I found no instructional info on bourbons I might like to try. No info on flights available on the menu. Later, I found a sign on the wall about flights. It was too late, I ordered a beer. Bourbon should be the item that gets you in the door; it should be reasonably priced and flowing. It should be in LOTS of the food. I felt the bourbon itself was somewhat inaccessible, which was why I came in the first place. I guess that’s why I was so disappointed. I know places and individuals that go to Kentucky to buy a barrel. Why haven’t they done this? If they have, why don’t they tell? They could sell their own barrel relatively cheaply as the«house bourbon!» Therein lies the disappointment, «Where’s the dam bourbon?»
