This is a cute shop with a nice selection of dresses. I think if you order something basic or with a non-​complicated hem, they can probably handle it. The dress I ordered had a detailed lace overlay and required accurate measurements … they had me come in twice for measurements, but unfortunately it was still incorrect and the dress wound up being too long, but they weren’t able to shorten it because of the lace overlay. Instead, they told me that it was because my bust was too small to hold up the dress and charged me $ 80 to try and fix the dress. Unfortunately, after the attempted alterations, it was still a bit too long and the fit wasn’t quite right around my torso, so there is buckling of the fabric that you can see in my wedding pictures. They were highly rated on the Knot though, so I think a lot of other brides had good experiences there.

Great customer service– I had an issue with them regarding my brides made dress for a wedding and when I made them aware them fixed it with out me even complaining and I was very grateful they did. I do think the brides made dress are prices high as well, but they have truly the best selection in the area and many reasonable wedding dress. The sisters are lovely to deal with the mother not so much I would recommend speaking with them :-) btw park in the front on the street its much easier since the entrance is on the street.
the only thing this is the highest place every for alteration flat fee of about 600 so I would not use them for alterations

Just ordered my dream wedding gown from something special last week and I can’t even explain what I wonderful experience I had with Lisa. She truly was incredible with understanding my style and the look I was going for. Its a smaller boutique, but they have a nice selection in a good price range I don’t think any of the 8 dresses i tried on were more than 3k. She encouraged me to try slight variations of the style I wanted but didn’t push me to try anything I really didn’t like. She made me feel comfortable throughout my visit and I love that I was the only bride there! She was very patient; I didn’t feel rushed at all. When I told her I was going to think about it and go to my other scheduled appointments (lovely bride and angelique bridal both in NYC) she was completely understanding and said she wanted to make sure I’m positive its the one! When I made my decision and called her she took me first thing in the morning to measure me and place my order. She also helped me to choose the perfect veil to compliment my gown. I can’t wait for my dress to come in !

Firstly, the bridesmaid’s dress was way overpriced… I could have bought the exact one more than half off online but I figured the dye lot could be different so I bought it there. Secondly, I went to pick it up and they don’t accept American express. I proceeded to write them a check and they told me I wouldn’t be able to take it with me unless I paid cash. What establishment doesn’t accept Amex that has been around as long as they have? I live locally so a personal check for the remaining balance should have been okay. She said I wouldn’t be able to take it home today if I wrote a check. And proceeds to say to me: «why don’t you run to the atm machine and give me cash?» Really??? That’s not what I call customer service. They refused to give me the dress, and I had to go home empty handed. I’ve been in retail as a buyer and a manager and this experience was anything but «something special.»

I’m an Ohio Bride with a bridesmaid in New Jersey. We came here to get my bridesmaid measured for her dress and to try on the chosen dress. Even though we didn’t make a purchase the staff was helpful, courteous and made the process easy. If I lived in the area I would come back. Thank you.

I bought my wedding gown at Something Special back in 2011 and I was extremely pleased with the service and experince. My gown was Lazaro and I absolutely love it. I tried going to Bijou bridal, but was turned off by the lack of experience my assigned saleswoman had (she was 19) and impersonal service (I was left to pull my dress on my own and had to wait in line to look in the mirror). Something Special was the opposite. I was the only appointment at the time so there was a lot of individual attention and the woman I worked with helped pull dresses for me to try on. The store is family run and very personal. They have undergarments for you to use and purchase, so don’t worry if you forget them! And they give you a bottle of champagne when you pick up your dress, which I thought was a very nice personal touch. I LOVED my experience here and would recommend it to everyone!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE MY DRESS!!! Preparing for a wedding is so stressful and I just have to say I am so grateful that my experience with Something Special made it so easy and exciting for me and my bridesmaids. It was one less stressful thing for me. From the moment I walked thru the door with all my girls, I just knew this was going to be a great place for me to purchase the dress of my dreams. They just made it so comfortable for us. Not only did I find the dress of my dreams, my bridesmaids did too. I was worried because all my girls are different sizes but they had so much to choose from that it didn’t matter. The seamstress made some beautiful alterations and she was so nice. I have been to several big bridal stores in the area and you can’t compare the warmth and service that Something Special provided me. I would definitely recommend this store to all future brides out there!

I have never had a worse experience than when I went to get a bridesmaid gown here. The staff was rude and arrogant. Unfortunately, this was the brides choice and I was stuck getting my dress fitted there.
This would be the last place I would go to for any special occasion. Buyer be ware… they are nice until they have you hooked then they turn into she devils. They would make any bride become a bridezilla.
