This is THEBEST indian food in the US that I could find after living in London, home of the Chicken Tikka Masala. The family puts a lot of love in their food and you can taste it. He switches it up a lot too which is nice. Decent price for college students too(:

I wish i could give no star to this place. My first experience was annoying. We took palak paneer, navratan korman and garlic naan from this place. As this place is only take out we had this order at home and it was awful. In palak paneer thr was no salt and korma was pathetic. When i called this guy in bhagya he said they don’t put salt in their sabji coz sum ppl are diabetic. The most senseless excuse ever and he said i can bring sabji back he will put salt in it, stupid and rude guy

Our order: –Chicken Tikka Masala(Mild) –Chicken Vindaloo(Very Hot) –Meat Samosa –Veggie Samosa –Basmati Rice –Plain Naan –Garlic Naan My girlfriend and I ordered all of this food, which will end up being our dinner for 2 – 3 nights. Compared to other local restaurants, this was the best mix of price and product. The dishes did a great job of staying mild enough for my girlfriend, while being spicy enough for myself. They may not deliver, but the location is easy to find and the service is very quick! Also, you don’t have to worry about the delivery costs. All of the food was also easy to reheat and took about 10 minutes to get everything ready at home. All in all, we both found this to be the Indian restaurant to go to in this area!

Delicious Indian food. They have tables inside, but it’s really not a eat-in style place. All he has to heat up your grub is a microwave. I recommend take out exclusively.

I have lived LITERALLY around the corner for going on 8 years now. Not sure whether they were there when I moved in, but I know I’ve been driving past this place and wondering about it for the longest. I always thought it was odd that nobody was in there, and wondered how they could afford to stay open. Last night, I was craving Indian food something wicked, but didn’t want to make the usual schlep over to Mt. Airy to visit my beloved Tiffin. So I got on Unilocal to figure out what was going on at Bhagya’s Kitchen and was pleasantly surprised by the good reviews. It was at that point I realized this place does pure takeout, and the dishes are prepared, cooled, and kept cold in a refrigerated case. Then you take it home and heat it up. That’s why I never saw anyone lingering in there — and based on the two people in line before me when I came in the door, I think they actually stay pretty busy. The man behind the counter could not have been friendlier. He greeted me like an old friend he was very glad to see, although it was my first time in. I ordered chicken tikka masala(my standby), plain jasmine rice, and the shrimp Goan curry, which he warned me had some spice to it. I also helped myself to some plain naan and a mango lassi from another refrigerated case to the side. I noticed they had tamarind sauce and that cilantro-mint sauce in little covered plastic cups and swiped some, but they do not offer mango chutney as a complimentary side. However, they did have full sized jars of varying condiments for sale at the register, and there was a Major Grey chutney and a mango green chili chutney. The jars were only $ 3.99(which I thought was very reasonable), so I grabbed the mango-chili version as a bit of a change. It was fantastic, by the way. As was ALMOST everything else. The rice was perfectly cooked — no matter what kind of rice I buy or how I cook it, I cannot seem to achieve those long, separate grains! The chicken tikka masala had a healthy amount of chicken in the pint serving(cough, giving you the side eye, Tiffin), and was creamy and flavorful. the shrimp Goan curry, which I tried just because it looked so good in the case, was spicy as promised. Not double you over in mouth-pain spicy, but definitely had some kick that built as you ate. It was fine for me, but I know some fainter of heart friends who would have thought it was too much, just fair warning. I could have eaten 10 lbs of it, the curry sauce was so good — complex, a bit smoky and felt like real time and care had gone into it. The mango lassi was delicious, although I’m not sure it merited a $ 3.75 price tag. The only disappointment, as I read in another review, was the naan. It was dense and had a thick, spongy texture that made it feel like something they’d ordered in from a distributor. It was also eerily perfectly round, which furthers my «probably not homemade» suspicions. I’m not saying I didn’t eat it, and the flavor of it was ok, it was just not the light, bubbled, tear apart lightness that is great naan to me. I would also post that they had a selection of regular and garlic naan, and while you can’t please all the people all of the time, it would be nice to see a peshwari naan option as well, with the nuts and fruit. Of course, that also requires that the naan quality overall gets sorted out first. I should add that I got a pint of chicken tikka masala, a pint of rice(which he was nice enough to comp, clearly in light of all the items I had greedily dumped on the counter by the register), ½ pint of shrimp Goan curry, a mango lassi, one plain naan AND a jar of mango-chili chutney for $ 29. I thought that was a fabulous deal, and I have paid that for just chicken tikka masala and naan at «the other place». I highly recommend you give Bhagya’s Kitchen a try. For better or worse, this place is around the corner from me, so I will soon be 900 pounds and have to be airlifted from my home. Look for me on the news.

Even if you are not Indian like myself and have had some exposure to the standard Indian fare, you can probably make out that this place misses the mark. I’m all about checking out the smaller establishments as I feel that they put a bit more love into their cooking. This place fits the bill right down the the lady in the kitchen with an apron on preparing those dishes that you see in the little glass case out front. First time service experiece was friendly and prompt and prices are fair. Only thing is, that the end product was just not that good. I did a sample of a veg, chicken and lamb dishes and either they lacked flavor or the flavor was just too much(in an intolerable type of way). I was told they are revamping their menu, but I probably won’t be visiting here again to see what they have done to it.

The best thing about Bhagya’s is the price. I got take out for dinner the other night and the food tasted like it was microwaved. By the time I got home the naan was like a rock and the chicken in my chicken tikka masala was like rubber. The sauce in the tikka masala was flavorful but thin and the palak paneer was very bland. The ladies working the restaurant were friendly but sadly I do not think I will be returning for dinner. Maybe I would stop by for a cheap lunch.

I live on the Philly side of this spot not even a mile away. I am overjoyed that there is an Indian Take-outery for me to frequent and befriend. They make all of their dishes from scratch and with their hands. Authentic spicing and flavoring. No short changing here. Plenty of veggy options, and just an over all great place to get some good Indian food for 1 or more.

Rivals some of the best Indian I’ve ever had. Definitely authentic and the price is right! Take out and catering only — Heating the food before you eat it is a must. Family is super nice and can answer any questions you may have.

Spent less than $ 10 here today on lunch. I was greeted by a nice man who was more than happy to help me navigate the curved glass-refrigerator that was filled from top-to-bottom with a variety of vegetarian and meat specials. If this was an all you can eat buffet and there was no glass case to stop me– I would’ve sampled everything. But alas, I had to pick. Pressed for time, I picked the chicken tikka masala and a side of basmati rice, noticed that there was garlic naan in the fridge behind me and grabbed it for an extra $ 2.25. The kind gentleman then asked if I had access to a microwave because I would need to reheat it– luckily I did have one at the office. Nuked the meal back at the office and all it was missing was a little salt to bring out the flavors a little bit more. I would give 4 stars if they had a seating area and maybe if I didn’t have to microwave my meal. That’s the whole point of running out for lunch– you need something quick. I will be back to try the chilli chicken and chicken curry. This was my first time here but it definitely won’t be my last. This place would do very well if it was in the Reading Terminal(hint, hint to the owner).

I was watching Gilmore Girl DVD’s and I got a craving for takeout. Watching that show can do that to a person. I specifically wanted Indian, but what’s a girl in Glenside to do? I work in U City, so I’m used to the best selection of ethnic foods, but this is not the case when I go home. I found Dave K’s review on Unilocal, and figured Bhagya’s was the answer to my quandary. I liked what I found. They have a tiny store with a number of Indian options in a glass front refrigerator. A young girl served me and I got the feeling that this was a family affair. I ordered a couple different things, chicken Tikka, a vegetable dish, a samosa and a couple pieces of naan. It was very good. The naan left a little to be desired, but the food was overall tasty and nicely spiced.

Bhagya’s is actually a catering business which does some take out business on the side. At lunch you can get something along the lines of a «three item plate» which they’ll heat up for you. At dinner, you can only get containers to take home and heat up. The also have a small amount packaged Indian groceries for sale. The two times I’ve had the food there, it was very good, although I’m probably not the best judge of Indian food. The staff I’ve interacted with were quite helpful and friendly and the place seems very clean. There are no tables, so don’t plan on eating there.

I sure hope this place never goes out of business. Homemade Indian food takeout— brilliant!~ As you walk in the door you are greeted by one of the family members– Mom, Dad or little girls.(and they are both so cute!) It is a little strange pointing at things behind a deli case, but I dig it! Tonight I wanted to surprise my hubby who had a bad day– by not burning dinner! So, I got a buncha small containers of stuff, chicken tikka masala, veggie something, spinach something, rice, nan and yogurt dip. It was all super yummy– and I didn’t have to cook!!!

I don’t know how I can eat out as much as I do and not weigh 900 pounds — especially when I regularly feast on the Navratan Korma from Bhagaya’s Kitchen. I can justify it because it’s got veggies in it, but who am I kidding? The sauce is all cream… which makes it so crazy delicious. And also why I can eat almost an entire pint of it, with rice, by myself. And since I’m being so honest with you guys, I would be remiss if I l didn’t tell you about their Chicken Tikka Masala and Chana Masala. Because I scarf that down, too. With naan. And sometimes a veggie samosa. Wowza. Yep, I’m a hungry girl, all right. The prices are a bit steep to come here every day, which is probably a good thing for me. And since it’s takeout, the food needs to be heated up at home, which, to me is cooking(yeah…I don’t really do that). But who am I kidding — this place is awesome. Even if I have to use actual kitchen appliances to eat my dinner.
