Whenever we are traveling my husband likes to treat us to donuts for breakfast from a local business. Often times this leads us to places like Marges. I’m not a huge donut eater, so I always go with a chocolate cake donut(the closest thing I can get to a cake ha!) and my husband always goes for a crème filled or cinnamon apple fritter. We got a handful of each and my favorite was the Old fashioned chocolate cake donut, tasted much more moist and flavorful than their regular one, which was a little too dense for my liking. My hub really enjoyed both of his, but especially the quality of their cinnamon apple donut(not fritter) — which had real slices of apples baked in. The store was very clean and had quick service, which was unexpected given the large lines of older locals that were meeting to hang out over a cup of coffee. It definitely has a small town feel just minutes away from a large city.

Marge’s is The place to get donuts. We were greeted at the door by Marge’s sister Marilyn. We had luggage with us and clearly were not regulars. We were made to feel at home. The donuts were fabulous. We tasted a variety, but the apple fritter is extra special. She showed us the artwork and described an African water project theft have supported over the years. Marilyn would not let us call a cab to our next destination. One of her employees drove us! He was a very interesting person too. Over the top treatment. We took donuts to the medical office we were visiting and they were quickly consumed! Thank you for the generous treatment and memorable experience and excellent donuts.

These are definitely the best doughnuts in the area. Not the best doughnuts I’ve ever had, but the best in a 50 mile radius. What I love most about Marge’s Doughnut Den is the atmosphere. It’s such a classic doughnut shop. And, Marge herself is still running the shop.

The donuts are sooo light, fluffy and fresh. Today the staff were pleasant which was a first for me. So I appreciate the change. I know Marge does a lot for the community, which is also appreciated. That’s why she’s been open for 40 years serving delicious donuts, cookies, cakes and pastries.

I can’t begin to express how much my family loves Marge’s Donut Den. This place is more than just good food, its a community. You will see people from all walks of life here. The service is usually very friendly and Marge herself is one of the most caring people around. Not only that, she’s a savvy business woman. Anything you get to eat here is going to be top notch. The donuts, the beautifully decorated cookies, and the cakes as well. All very reasonably priced. I stopped making birthday cakes for my kids because the ones at Marge’s are so good. Marge and her staff are also great with kids. This spring due to circumstances beyond our control, we bought my son’s birthday cake at the last minute. The decorator was gone, so Marge had to do the writing on the cake. She didn’t just do the writing on the cake, she also showed my 7 year old how to write his name with frosting and let him do it all by himself. She also gave him donuts for he and his siblings as a birthday present. It helped make his birthday even more special. There aren’t many places out there that place such a high priority on people. Donuts, cookies, and cake may not be the healthiest thing to eat, but if you’re going to have one, it might as well be from the best donut shop in West Michigan. Dunkin’ Donuts and Tim Hortons have NOTHING on Marge’s Donut Den.

You simply must visit this bakery when in Grand Rapids! Perfect donuts… all kinds; in a clean, friendly, well staffed bakery with that old fashioned charm that’s difficult to find any more.

Marge’s Donut Den came highly suggested as the best donut shop in GR from a local foodie group. On my first visit, I chose an apple fritter doughnut(my personal favorite and a good yardstick for judging quality and consistency.) I pre-ordered paczki for Fat Tuesday and exitedly trekked there early am to pick them up. Sadly, their paczki are more closely related to the German berliner, or filled jelly doughnut. Good enough for many Grand Rapidians, but not this Polish Detroiter. That said, Marge’s does the classic doughnut well. I hear they also make a damn fine special occasion cake. The atmosphere is everything I love about a small local business, and Marge herself is still running the show!

I just left this place and I have to say I am impressed! This is the quintessential donut shop! Not much to look at(in fact it smelled a bit like they were painting). Two sweet old ladies manning the counter and most of the day’s supply of donuts depleted. Both great signs considering it’s the end of their day. I was so excited I couldn’t leave the parking lot without trying one of my donuts. It was perfect. Old-school classic made by real people who know what they’re doing. I will be back!

Donuts were delicious. My favorite was the glazed old fashion donut. Wish I got more than one of those. Long Johns were also really really good. Very nice selection of donuts. Very friendly and helpful service. Very fair pricing. Truly doesn’t get any better. I can’t imagine what else I could want in a donut shop.

Marge’s is a Wyoming staple for people needing a donut fix! These are some light and fluffy treats that do not disappoint. The bakery staff is always nice and the place is always packed. A little more expensive than other places, but no doubt worth the little extra! Can’t go wrong choosing Marge’s! Homer Simpson would approve!!!

Marge’s Donut Den is soooo cute. They have donuts, cupcakes, cookies and joy to share with everyone. It is a small little place with a bustle of people coming in and out. The staff is so nice and happy to be at work. Parking is easy and easy to enter and exit. Now the treats: amazing! The cookies are hand decorated so cutely. THey had topical cookies(olympics, winter, valentine’s). I was really pleased with how clean and professional the packaging was. I got boxes and single cupcakes here with had sturdy yet beautiful packaging. I wish I lived in MI so I could come here often!

Best donuts in Grand Rapids hands down. We usually go to sandy’s but they were closed on Christmas Eve, so we went here instead. The smell of freshly baked donuts wafted out into the parking lot and we ordered a dozen donuts. Chocolate, cinnamon, plain, sprinkles, long johns, and bear claws. The staff was friendly and helped us find the donuts we wanted. Thanks!

I would definitely come back here for donuts over a chain. I give this business three stars, as the donuts are good, but they don’t set themselves apart with something different. They are really good«standard» donuts, none of that experimental or gourmet ingredients air here. Tried their in-house apple donut, raspberry jelly and an old-fashioned made out of sour-cream. All were tasty. They also have good coffee. The inside is very plain. White walls and posters with pictures of volunteer missions staff or partner organizations have completed. Can tell this is a business with a soul. The store itself is buried on a busy street with many businesses and stores around.

Marge’s rocks. Seriously. The donuts here are so very tasty & the red velvet is most delicious! They have beautifully decorated cookies that are also yummy! I haven’t had cake from here but they do a beautiful job decorating them! Keep it up Marge — Love your place!!!

Since 1975 landmark is located on 28th Street between Burlingame and Byron Center. The cake doughnuts are so good here. There is a plethora of options to choose from even in the later morning. With so much available it can make you wish you had more than one stomach. Marge’s is small but does have at least a half dozen tables for eat in. The counter girls are quick to help and friendly. Several elderly folks seem to like it as a hang out.

My wife’s great grandmother worked at Marge’s for over 20 years, so this fine donut establishment holds a fond place in her heart. It’s joked that when her great grandmother passed on, a metric ton of donuts and other baked goods made it’s way to the wake, courtesy of Marge herself. It’s because of this connection to my wife’s family that on a recent trip for the 4th of July we made a visit to this West Michigan mecca for baked goods. Walking into the store was just as I expected; an unassuming glass counter that covered the full width of the room, lined with donuts, cookies, and other delicious treats. We just had lunch, so we made the stop to purchase breakfast for the next day, though I ordered a glazed donut for the road as this is my M.O. with any new donut shop I visit. My wife followed suit opting for the appropriately glazed red-white-and blue sugar cookie. As far as the glazed donut went, I wouldn’t rank it as the best I’ve ever had, but definitely an exceptionally good donut! The glaze wasn’t so sticky that it left an uncomfortable residue on your fingers, and the donut itself had a pleasant fluffiness to it that it didn’t necessarily deflate when biting in, but rather, had a soft chew. The next morning I partook of the white frosted, jelly filled donut(couldn’t tell if it was raspberry or cherry). It was equally as good as the glazed. All-in-all, Marge’s Donut Den lived up to all the hype, and made a fan out of this donut-junkie.
