This used to be a Country Inn and Suites. They had a nice porch area with rockers and was a pleasant seating area suitable for reading and conversation. No more. The whole hotel is being torn apart and being turned into, imho, the scourge of hotels –a Holiday Inn Express. While the rooms have been updated on the third floor, the second floor is closed for demolition and the first is a maze of construction. The beautiful check-n desk has been shredded and the staff runs around trying to do their jobs. The main entrance is closed and entry is through a previously secured side door. The pool is to be closed for«renovation» on approximately 6⁄22. I’d like to thank the owners for taking a hotel that felt like home and turning it into another soulless chain hotel.

I’ve stayed at this hotel about half a dozen times. It is clean and the staff are attentive. The lobby and pool area are nice. The rooms are large and comfy and the breakfasts are nice. However, my most recent stay was not enjoyable and indicates the need for the hotel to address several issues especially the need for overdue renovation. Upon checking in, I wasn’t recognized for being a rewards member as normally expected and the room I was put in had some issues. Upon entering it we noticed a distinct smoke smell. When I called the front desk about it I was told that it was dust burning up in the window AC unit(as if that makes it okay) and that it would go away. Unfortunately it never did. And the problem with the window units is that they are antiquated and never shut off. So on any temperature setting they will just run forever. This of course led us to not sleeping well after which I got congested and am still dealing with the effects for two weeks now. The other issue was with the bed sheets. One bed showed large blue ink stains under the covers that should have been noticed by anyine making the bed. So I had to call the front desk again to have these replaced. The other issue I had with the hotel was with the side door entry. It was pouring rain when I tried to use it from the outside and it simply would not accept my card so I was forced to walk all the around in the rain to get in. The response I got when I brought this to their attention is that the issue with the card reader is caused by water getting into the system. However there was no indication that they would try to fix it which was disappointing. Based on my most recent experience, I would not recommend this hotel and do not plan on staying here again. I also feel that other hotels in the area would give you much more value for your money.

Great place to stay. Comfortable bed, great pool and free breakfast are reasons to return. Staff is so so friendly and helpful. They don’t greet you unless you greet them first. Staff could use a little more people skills, but if what you are looking for is a comfortable bed at a reasonable price then you are in the right place. The free wifi is too slow.

The rooms are clean but very dated. Bathrooms are tiny but the rooms are amply sized. The staff is passive-aggressive. The services are non-existent. «May I buy a bottle of water?“I ask. The clerk points to the vending machines. «But I’m completely our of cash» I respond? «Sorry» responded the clerk. «How about you give me two bucks for the vending machine and charge 5 bucks to my room?» I said. «Have a goodnight and I hope your evening gets better» responded the clerk. Enough said…

you know, this was just OK for me. I do feel I somewhat over paid for my king suite, even though I had AAA discount. the room was just freezing, and took forever to warm up. it just wasn’t laid out like I thought it would be. it was nice to have a microwave and refridge though beause then I didn’t have ot buy food. the bed was fine, and the noise wasn’t bad. I would stay there again if necessary for convenience, but it just wans’t exactly what I expected.

Great place for the kids to get some pool time. Hotel is clean and the front desk is very attentive. Rooms are very reasonably priced. Free breakfast is nice and a great way to start the day. Coffee and cookies in the lobby all day.

Stayed one night with friends after the Brit Floyd show at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center in Reading(only two miles away from the hotel). Check in was quick & accurate. Greg was extremely friendly, pleasant & helpful. Room was as requested — on top floor & quiet! Beds were comfortable, room was clean. We requested a smoking room(for my friends) — and, boy was the room stinky. But, again — we knew it would be, since we specifically requested a smoking room. On the positive side, the windows could be opened to air it out a bit. The room also had a small fridge & microwave. Wi-fi was free, but, a bit slow. It DID connect very simply, though. The bathroom IS very small. But, it was sufficient for our use. Breakfast — the dining room was spacious & clean, there was a decent variety of food(hot eggs, sausage & potatoes). I didn’t care for the sausage or how the eggs were prepared — so, I stuck with the Belgian waffles. They were tasty — but, could have used more topping options. There was also coffee, milk, juice, cereals, breads, muffins, etc. The breakfast attendant did a great job keeping things stocked & tidy. There is not too much right around this hotel… but, there are restaurants & a mall not too far away(just a mile or two). All in all — a pleasant stay. The hotel is a little over priced — but, not by too much.

Staying here at Reading Hospital’s expense since I’m interviewing for one of their positions and, even aside from the fact that it’s free, I can’t complain. Upon arrival, there was ample parking around the building(not surprising considering the area, I guess) and checkin was smooth and easy. There is free coffee, tea, and chocolate chip cookies in the lobby 24⁄7. Don’t get overexcited, these aren’t on the same level as the Doubletree welcome cookies, which is what all hotel cookies should strive to be. That said, they’re still fairly decent and quite edible. Elevator and hallways look a slight bit aged, but the rooms are clean and in good condition. Beds are comfortable with big warm blankets. Each room also has what appears to be ~32″ LCDTV as well as fridge and microwave. In-room WiFi is free but the speed isn’t that great. I ran several speed tests and it’s hovering consistently at around 1.2Mbps. It’s really cold outside right now and my heater has barely been running so room insulation also appears to be good. As far as noise insulation goes, I haven’t heard any activity in the halls or from neighboring rooms. This could be a testament to the wall thickness, but it could just as easily be because nobody is here(again, not surprising given the location, lol)
