Never been here but just had a few hot dogs from here. My wife works at a bank in Roanoke… the lady my wife works with is from Wytheville and has a customer who buys these hotdogs for her every time she comes into town. You can definitely tell they are mechanically separated chicken and pork, so not the best… but pretty tasty. Chili and coleslaw was pretty good. Probably won’t make my way there for hot dogs anytime soon.

Skeeter’s is the type of place not easily found in America anymore. A simple down home joint to grab a dog. Everything here is nostalgic and hasn’t changed in decades. We stopped in passing though Wythevile for lunch. I each ordered a Skeeter Dog with coleslaw, chili, and cheese. I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but oh boy, these were the best dogs I’ve ever had. We each quickly ordered two more. These were that good! There really isn’t much else to say. They also offer basic sandwiches and soft drinks, but honestly, come here for their hot dogs. Service was friendly and prices reasonable. Definitely recommended when in Wytheville.

Went to Skeeters as was in the area for a funeral. Went in and seemed like I had stepped back into old town America. Sat at the bar and ordered two of the«works». Oh how good. Served on paper napkins. Thought the chili would run off the dog but it didn’t. It stayed put. Consumed those two dogs and then ordered two more that were«regular». Also wolfed those down. Be aware, these are not your«ballpark«frank’s. They are on a oven pan and I think they are steamed. They are also red in color. The buns are also steamed. I think I’m going to get another four!

This is a step back in time. Good ol fashioned southern hot dog joint. Simple menu and friendly service. Was pleased with everything about the place.

After reading the rave reviews about this restaurant, my wife and i decided to try it. The hot dogs were OK but nothing too spectacular. My favorite part was the chili. The small bags of chips we got talked into were overpriced. The memorabilia in the restaurant was nice, but I don’t think we’d be back, perhaps mostly due to the fact that ketchup is nowhere to be found in the restaurant. I’d probably give 3.5 stars overall for the food and atmosphere, though.

Okay. I ate at Skeeters in March of this year. WHAT am I missing? My hot dog was boiled, cool and was a weird color. It wasn’t very tasty and the bun was ordinary. The history and atmosphere was fun but Ive had MUCH better dogs on the grill. What do you ALL love about this place? I really don’t get it.

Great people in an active and sweet hometown. The counter guys were really good. They filled is in on events in town.. Most personable service ever! Hot dog loaded was extra delicious— get it with coleslaw. Barbecue was good too. German chocolate cake still warm from the oven was GREAT. This was worth the 4 minute drive from the interstate highway. Fast simple food but colorful.
