I visited this restaurant for a family member’s birthday and we had a pretty good experience. For me, the food was top-notch. The chips were delicious and the salsa had a nice flavor. I got a dish with chicken and chorizo(I can’t remember the name) and the meat was quite flavorful and the melted cheese added the perfect touch. The other 6 people in my group all had similarly positive things to say about their food. It did lose a star for service. They were pretty slow to refill water glasses or to bring things that were requested(silverware, lemons for water, to go, etc). They also said they would bring ice cream and a birthday hat for our family member’s celebration, but that never came. We had several people(five, I think) bring us food/drinks and at least two of them appeared to be the primary server, so perhaps they’d have more success of the server remained consistent. In any case, well worth the time and I’ll definitely be back the next time I visit Xenia!

The large man at the checkout, who I suppose would be called the«host», lacks any hint of courtesy, politeness or customer oriented service. He gives off an arrogant, condescending vibe in person and on the phone. And the last time I placed a carry out order, they didn’t include the guacamole that I ordered but was charged for, so I informed him of this on my most recent order. He then proceeded to argue with me about it, saying I should have told them the same day because otherwise people could claim anything they want. The lack of logic in this statement didn’t seem to be an issue for him. Even though he felt it just to argue with a repeat customer over a $ 1.50 cup of guacamole, he obliged and said he would give us the guacamole complimentary this time… We did receive said guacamole, and upon returning home realized he charged us for it as an «open food item» to disguise that it was actually a charge for that item. I don’t suppose I need to mention how dishonest, disingenuous, and inhospitable this was. Nevertheless, he can keep his $ 1.50, and I will keep all the hundreds that I would have otherwise spent there in the future for a more deserving restaurant with a host that doesn’t scowl me out the door.

If you are seeking Authentic Mexican – this is not it– it is poor Tex Mex food. I am from S. Texas and lived a few miles from border of Mexico, where my family and I would have dinner at least twice a week. Mexican food is distinctly different from TexMex with few commonalities. This restaurant serves a poor version of Tex Mex. The main ingredient in Tex Mex is cheese – NOT American Processed Cheese or white canned cheese sauce-which is the main ingredient used in this restaurant. I understand that Ohio residents LOVE their white canned cheese sauce served at the local mexican restaurants – but you will not find it at any authentic good Tex Mex restaurant. For example, Queso Fundido or Flamaedo(a mexican and Tex Mex dish) is served in both Texas and Mexico with REAL Oaxaca or Mozerralla cheese topped with Chorizo – NOT canned processed american cheese! Enchiladas, which are NOT found in Mexico in the traditional sense that we know them do not have cheese sauce –either in Mexico or Tex Mex(in Mexico enchiladas are served cold with Goat Cheese and a homemade pico de gallo(fresh tomatoes, cilantro, onions, etc.)(in Tex Mex, enchiladas are served warm, baked in the oven with melted REAL(Mozerrala, Monterrey Jack, Cheddar) cheese and homemade tomato sauce with a blend of spices). If you truly think that cheese sauce is delicious you will save a lot of money by going to the store and buying yourself a can of white cheese sauce or velveetta, pouring it over a warm corn tortilla and topping it off with canned tomato sauce and warming it in the microwave – because that is what this restaurant is serving for their enchiladas. Their Queso Fundido, is basically canned white american cheese sauce with chorizo on top. Most of their dishes consist of canned white cheese sauce poured over them.

Zipped through town in search of dining options(anything beats fast food), and noticed the full parking lot. Always a good Sign! I always ask if a spicier salsa is available than what they would normally serve with their chips and was happily obliged. Enjoyed the grilled chx, carnitas & chorizo tacos. I wish I could have finished all 3! Pleasant staff and great food.

Ugh… I don’t understand how some people are happy with paying for reheated frozed gfs food at a restaurant and calling it dinner. I can heat up a lean cuisine for a fraction of the cost and much better taste. This was mediocre. Have some pride in your business… cook something fresh… update the tables and chairs… It felt like I was still in Friendlys when I was a kid.

Absolutely the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. The décor is simle, welcoming, and comfortable. The staff is great and always a pleasure to be around. Wait time is always minimal! The food is to die for. My boyfriend and I used to live in the area and we would go about once a week. Now that we have moved about an hour and a half away, we still visit on occasions. The chips and salsa are pretty much amazing, we joked about just going there to get the freebies. I’ve had the margaritas here, which are perfect. We can not find a single Mexican restaurant that compares to Los Mariachis and we wish they would open a spot in the Cincinnati area. Best dishes: steak nachos fajita and the burrito grande.

I visited the area and was brought here by family who are big fans of this place. It’s a simple, no décor kind of place that makes it clear that they’re about the food, so it’s a good thing the food is so good. Our family table(that included three kids under the age of 5), was all happy with their meals. I had a shrimp dish that made me very happy, and everyone else had sampler entrees with the usual combinations of enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, etc. All reports were positive. Good Mexican food for being in the middle of a small Ohio farm town! It’s authentic, but approachable authentic, unlike some of the more extreme items I’ve sampled in Mexican neighborhoods in big cities in the U.S., like SF’s Mission District. Margaritas are practically given away here. Bring a designated driver. I had a classic margarita on the rocks with Grand Marnier for about $ 3. Oh, and the food was solid! I shall return when I’m back in the area.

One of our favorite places to get Mexican food in the area.(It’s where we go when we want to go upscale of Taco Loco.) My favorite item here is their chile relleno; it’s just like I used to get in Albuquerque. We also like the Quesadilla Fajita, Quesadilla Texana, and Mariachi Chicken. I often get the special of the day, and I’ve yet to be disappointed. Prices are very reasonable, and service is good. As to the taco shells not being home made, sorry, but this is Dayton. I love home made tortillas, but I mostly get them in Houston when I visit my daughter.

I have to say if I could have given them two and half stars that would have been perfect. The food is okay, chips are good and service and atmosphere are great. But the taco shells are not home made– they are like the ones in the box at super market. The entrees don’t come with any sour cream or guac, and no hot sauce. But the worst thing is that there is no choice of shredded beef on the menu. You can order«strips» of beef, but that sounds gross, the ground beef was DRY and had no seasonings. The chicken was good though. I long for my hometown Mexican food where the sumptuously moist shredded beef taco in the extremely crunchy home made shell, topped with cheese, sour cream and guac…

You must be joking. If you think this is ‘good food’, you have never tasted good food. The chips are ok, the ‘salsa’ tastes like canned, spiced tomato sauce. The enchiladas leave a lot to be desired — the chicken is decent but just tastes like chicken, no resemblance to Mexican flavor. The beef enchilada reminds me of a Maid-Rite loosemeat sandwich in a tortilla instead of a bun. The enchilada sauce tastes like weak kechup. I have been here 3 times, I realize that every place can have a bad day so I always try to be fair — but the food here is tasteless. Go down the street to the other Mexican place in Xenia, you will be much happier

At first glance, the food may look like pretty standard Americanized Mexican fare, nothing special. But something about it is really exceptional. It’s just really fresh and flavorful. Not authentic, not inventive, but truly delicious. It’s a cozy, cheerful, brightly painted place, with good service, great food, and excellent margaritas. Added: I notice«Rob E» only gives one-star reviews. So I’ve added one more star(originally gave 4) to make up for his childishness. There’s no accounting for taste, but in this case, he’s flat out wrong. Not everybody likes American-Mexican food, but no reasonable person can accuse their food of being«tasteless.» It’s very flavorful and fresh, whether it’s to your taste or not. With repeat visits, I’ve noticed the main entrees are much better than individual items or combos, so that’s my only caveat: stick with the main items.

Friendly staff, delicious food, great prices. For once, it’s mexican food that’s actually cooked and served by mexicans. Fresh, high-quality meat. I had the chicken tacos with a side of rice and beans. I couldn’t finish it all, and I only spent about 10 bucks(including a margarita). They also give you a complimentary hearty helping of chips and salsa pre-meal. Yummmm.
