«‘Soil yourself» the slogan for Roots winery which encapsulates wines that expresses the climate; geography and land the grapes. are from. Cool tasting room in Yamhill area. Eclectic furnishing from a very cool true butcher block table; old style barber shop chairs and old school arcade game machine. They have a nice deck that has a great view of the valley. All that will be a waste if the wines were not good. The wines are fantastic. From the sparkling wines; whites to the Pinot Noirs were great. Price ;point is very reasonable and the price range is from $ 15 to $ 40. Chris Berg is a very talented winemaker and when you listen to him talk about the vineyards; fruit and the wine making process you quickly realize he is passionate about making wine and it shows in the final product. Be sure to check them out if you are in the area.

I’m not going to do the cliché’ thing and say that they are Horrible and to stay away from here. But, I am really tempted to do so(I hope it doesn’t get too crowded). This place rocked my socks off! Anyplace where you can hang out and play unlimited Atari-video games like Ms. Pacman, Dig Dug, etc. while drinking wine is beyond-amazing in my book. The staff was really friendly and knowledgeable and good with timing of other pours. They also had a cute 2 month-Australian Shepherd(I believe) puppy named Blue that was very well behaved, had a great temperament and also added to the enjoyment of petting a puppy while drinking wine. The scenery was pretty good as well. However, I’m not gonna lie, I did not step on the back patio at all to check it out. I just stayed in the interior of the building. The wine was really good as well. The first pour was of the tasting docket was Deux Vert Melon de Bourgogne, and it did more the tickle my taste buds, it seduced them. To be honest, this was the 4th stop of the day, and it’s hard to compare wines at the 4+ stop because the taste buds gets a little wishy-washy. But, this one was really distinct, it was sparkling and almost like a sour-beer, it has a bold, fresh fermented taste to it. I really liked this one a lot, it was very unique. I like this winery because they have cool names for their wine clubs memberships like«Soil yourself» which is pretty clever, and slightly vulgar but not really that offensive. We ended up buying a bottle of the pinot noir as well. Also, for those wishing to make a day out of it, this winery is about a 3 minute drive from Saffron Fields, which I highly recommend as well. Cheers!
