Nice atmosphere … But it took forever to get our drinks, and they messed up our steak orders completely. Once our order was corrected, I food wasn’t bad. Not a bad place, but I wouldn’t rush back here.

Beautiful restaurant– the building was an old carriage school for boys, which is fun. The food is delicious, the servers are sweet and attentive. I’ve been here twice and haven’t been disappointed either time. I recommend the chicken and waffles or empanadas for appetizer, and then DEFINITELY go with the pork chops for dinner. They are insane… Cooked perfectly on the bone over sweet potato mash with roasted brussels sprouts and a brown sugar glaze.

I’ve never dined here, so i can’t attest to that, but the bar area is very clean, and the times I’ve gone the bartenders have been very friendly, though maybe a bit daft. The pool table is in need of a serious overhaul, and the area it’s in is not conducive to people over 5’10″, but all in all it’s a nice spot to just hang out. Lots of televisions, also.

Great. casual dining. A very friendly ‘family’ atmosphere with very good food and large helpings. The French Onion soup was fantastic and the Sauerbraten was very good. We’ll be back!

I’ve been a regular customer for years. The appearance of the place has only improved. The food has always been great.

First I have to laugh at the people from Queens who think this is «the middle of nowhere». This is a great place for people in the area. A pretty location and good food and service.

Went for dinner with five other people and definitely enjoyed the food. I started with a crab chowder from the daily special menu that was seasoned well and had taste delicious. I then had the Nellie salad for my entrée and added grilled shrimp to it. The grilled shrimp were cooked well, and the salad had roasted red peppers, goat cheese, asparagus, and fried artichoke hearts over field greens. The artichoke hearts were a nice touch to liven up the salad. The portions are quite large and generous. The waitress was super sweet, but the bus girls seemed very annoyed when we wanted to move to a table that was less crowded. My main complaint of the evening is that the room was quite cold. It would have been nice if the heat had been turned up. All in all, it was a fun night out.

Unilocal’s default comment for two stars of «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» is spot on. Stopped in here for a business lunch and found the menu to be a little sparse. What we did order, calamari for an appetizer and the blackened salmon salad to be very ordinary. The service was okay, but not exceptional by any stretch. Colleagues had the build-your-own-burger and one of the salad specials and both felt the same. The place feels a little dated, to be honest.

This place has a lot of potential. We came in here to eat after kayaking up the river. It was a very nice day and they had live music in the back which I thought at first was karaōke. So we asked if we could sit outside but the tables were full. The waitress said that there were some people that looked like they were about to leave. We sat at the bar while waiting. At the bar there was a bartender that it seemed that every interaction had some sort of strange tension to it. There were menus all over the bar that said lunch and it was 4pm on a Sunday. My friend asked is this the menu right now? The bartender said«is that like some sort of trick question?» She said well here is the dinner menu too.(Not telling us what menu was in force) The dinner menu was almost exactly the same besides some of the lighter items were off it. When we got seated(1 hour later) it was told to us that Sunday is «dinner menu all day». But they did allow someone to order a lunch menu item. Seems the owner was working like crazy in the kitchen, but she should be out on the floor checking up on the staff while delegating some of that kitchen work to others.

Great Food. TERRIBLE service. It seems like these girls have never waitressed a day in their life. The first time I ate here, they gave us the wrong food, forgot our drinks multiple times and NEVER apologized. If I was messing up someone’s order that much I would hope they would be a little apologetic or concerned. But no, they acted like WE were the ones who made the mistake. Just treated very poorly overall. The food was great however so was hoping it was just maybe a busy day and they weren’t used to the summer season yet. Tried it for a second time but nope, the same exact thing happened. Messed up our orders, forgot drinks, and took forever to be served. This place has so much promise because of a great location and great food, the wait staff just needs a lesson is dealing with large crowds and customer service.

We came here on a nice afternoon looking for some lunch before heading back to Queens. Located in what seems like the middle of nowhere with nice views of a pond. It has an indoor dining area, bar and pool table. The outdoor portion features a dining area and what appeared to be a(mobile) stage. They have a fairly large parking lot too. On to my experience… Our group ordered the bbq chicken nachos to start. They were ok. Wished they had used some shredded cheese and in my opinion, pulled chicken might work better. They had a decent beer selection on tap, a long with unsweetened iced tea and lemonade. For lunch I ordered a chicken wrap. It was tasty and messy. Could tone down the sauce, but that might take away the kick. The rest of the party seemed happy with what they got. Chicken panini, cheeseburger and crab cake sandwich. I would definitely go back and would suggest it to any friends looking for a spot for food on their way back to the city.

I have passed this place so many times but never got a chance to stop. Finally went there this weekend and I was very pleasantly surprised. Dont be put off by its local«flavor» nor by the bikers hanging out. The restaurant is in a very pleasantly decorated room that is totally separate from the bar area. I was expecting nothing more than bar type grub but, again, was totally surprised at the selections. It is actually a «real» restaurant. The food is excellent. We had crab soup, german mixed grill, steak, salmon, and a bunch of appetizers. All were superb. We also had desserts… again, excellent Service was prompt, professional and friendly. Definitely will go again.

Quite decent food at a fair price. Never been disappointed no matter what I’ve gotten. Never been completely wowed either but I don’t expect to be. Good place for a quiet relaxing lunch away from it all. Updated to 4 stars. Must have been in a bad mood when I reviewed. Food consistently good.

I have lived in area for twenty years but just recently started going to millhouse. It is a nice place with a little bit of a small town feel. Good happy hour on Fridays, it’s a good place to catch up with old friends

We had lunch at the Millhouse Inn yesterday. First, I would like to compliment the staff for the great job they did handling our large group of 30 people. Someone had taken a moment to call ahead to ensure we could be seated. A little courtesy goes a long way. The lunch menu had offerings from burgers and wings to paninis, specialty salads, sandwiches, soups and more. My friend had the French Onion Soup which was served piping hot with a generous topping of cheese $ 6. She said the soup was delicious. I ordered the chicken wrap which was served with a bleu cheese on the side, french fries and a pickle $ 10. The wrap was chock full of tender chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomato and had a slightly zesty taste which was not spicy, but gave it a little extra something. The fries were thick, crispy and golden and the pickle had crunch. I finished off with a cup of hot coffee which was served in a canning jar — cute idea and a very abundant serving of coffee — this was bigger than a mug. We had a lovely view of the fall colors across the water while eating. Certainly worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Like my girl, Johanna, I also cannot give this place a bad review because 20 of us walked in unannounced, sweaty, tired and hungry looking for service. Every year I work with Team in Training doing endurance sports to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This year, I did a cycling event that was just this weekend and so much fun!!! So, the whole group of us, on our last team practice ride decided to get us some grub and beers! First, let me not forget, beers at the bar were 2 for 1! Ohhhhh yeah! So we wanted to sit outside and so did this group of mountain bikers referring to us all as «roadies.» Very creative. Anyhow, I’m not here to talk about how they were annoying… I felt bad that the staff was so overwhelmed between the two groups. They did do their best to try and get everything for us but it was def. much easier to get a drink at the bar rather than waiting for a waitress. I ordered a chicken wrap with sweet potato fries and the sweet potato fries were amazing and the warp was just ok. They were setting up for live music on the patio when I left and I’m sure that’s a lot of fun for a lot of people! :) I’d try it again with a smaller group — and if I do — I shall update my review.

Meh. I don’t want to give this place a bad review, because I came here expecting something different then what we got. Preface: every so often, I like to get jiggy with my charitable self, and sign up for a cycle event with my local Team in Training Chapter. I love these people, and I’m doing the 2012 Ride to Montauk Century with them, raising money for LLS. We have our ride next weekend, and we wanted to go out as a group after our wind down ride of 50 miles, for a bite to eat and some beers. We had a group of about 20 people, and decided to sit outside. enter: mountain bike crew. We had a mild turf war over tables and seats and whatnot with these guys — it was one of the weirder experiences of my life… and… cut to: overwhelmed wait staff trying to accommodate a deck full of hungry, hot and sweaty cyclists grumbling about having to share with each other. That just led to very slow, inaccurate service. I believe some people waited a good 30 minutes for a beer(wha…follow me, young grasshopper, to the bar inside and order it instead of getting it from the waitress… you’ll even get the second one free) and close to an hour for our order to come out. We didn’t order anything too fancy, I’m talking like sandwiches and burgers and the like. A few of them were wrong, we had trouble getting water and napkins and just general stuff you’d expect when eating out. me? I ordered wings and a lump crab meat burger to split it with a friend. The wings were bad. I honestly love wings, these were dry and small some were burnt, and they were served with watery ranch dressing(a huge f-cking faux pas in my book). The burger was more stuffing then crab, which is unfortunate considering we are ONLONGISLAND, but I wasn’t expecting a gourmet meal. I do think that the food and service was sub par the price — which honestly wasn’t expensive. Those two items came to about 20 beans, which is reasonable, but only if it were closer to edible. Did I eat it? Yes, I was f-cking starving, but if I wasn’t so hungry I wouldn’t have gone through with it. the sweet potato fries however, were off the f-cking chain. So much so, that I stole them from my teammates(think, tap on the shoulder, whats that! grab fries and run). They were big and full… mmm mmmm good. And the honey mustard they had was good(way important to have good Honey Mustard). My friend loved her salad with seared tuna, so it may just have been a mistake in the ordering process. I just have a hard time thinking that I need to be careful ordering bar food staples, they shouldn’t’ be THAT bad… how hard is it to make some wings? That was a rant, I apologize. NOW had I come here with a few friends to sit outside, have a few beers and maybe grab a meal, would I be giving this place 3 stars? No, I’d be giving it 5. The location has a view of a pond that people are fishing in, kids are playing in, and doggles are swimming in. They have a set up for a live band, and the guys we were with were playing some sweet tunes, and they have a bar right outside. If I had a motorcycle, I would ride it here. I think that they were overwhelmed by the amount of people, and it seriously affected the service and the food.

Awesome local place. Went for lunch on the lake, sat outside and was greeted by numerous sweet nice staff. You’ll be surprised by the specials. If asparagus chicken with Havarti is on the menu order one to eat and one to take home!!! The rolls are so fresh and soft. The sweet potato fries are meaty! Wings are good too. If you’re near here give it a shot, you will be happy you diid.
