Small, sure, but it’s packed with all sorts of fun. At least 8 varieties of apples from around NY state, gourds, pumpkins, plants, leafy produce, potatoes, varieties of tomato, North Fork chips, Tate’s cookies, pies, cider… they pack it all in. Do yourself a favor and scoop up the key lime pie from the fridge. It’s super good. The line moves fast(if there is one) and they take CC, so don’t worry about having cash on ya.

Since I can’t seem to find any farm stands near the Babylon/Islip area, I was super pumped to learn about Pumpkin Patch. It’s a bit of a hike, but well worth the visit if you plan on picking up quite a few items. Visiting in late August, they have everything you could possibly want from a local farm stand: red ANDYELLOW watermelons, berries, peaches, potatoes, tomatoes, portabella mushrooms, peppers, eggplants, corn, a ton of lettuce varieties, and so much more. Prices may appear a bit steep at first glance, but it’s good to remember that you’re helping finance the local farmers who provide the delicious produce. «Local» = more nutrients and better for the environment. I’m constantly watching my budget so I can’t come here as often as I’d like, but it’s great for when I’d like to splurge a bit and when I have reason to pick up some pretty decent veggies. They also offer freshly baked pies and cheesecakes for when you don’t want to be so healthy! AND they accept Visa and MC — totally awesome.
