It should read«Margarota, aka BIG Margarita!!» not Margarola(Can’t help myself, I’m an old Spanish AND English teacher… DOUBLE trouble!!) but no matter what you call it, this place is a breath of fresh air and a FEAST for the eyes(and belly!!) and a welcome addition to the Yellow Springs area! Before you even walk in the door, the BEAUTIFUL mural on the outside wall of the building(will share a pic!!) will let you know that this place is not your average«Tex/Mex» joint. Just outside the«main drag» of Yellow Springs, but still capturing all of the FUNKY/ARTSY vibe, it’s just as «kitsch» as can be, an explosion of color AND flavor! Many of the delicious entrée choices are named after famous Mexican artists, including the Frida(mmmmm!!) and some others I can’t recall at the moment, but check out the menu for a mini Mexican art history lesson! Comfy, cozy, convenient, EXCELLENT service(usually just two guys in here, working better and more efficiently than most places with triple the amount of wait staff!!). Definitely worth a visit!

Really good Mexican. I especially like the salsa. I have either the enchiladas or fajitas when I go and they are delish! The margaritas are pretty yummy and I especially like that they have dos Equis amber on draft. Very reasonable prices and fun décor.

Have been here many times, always get the fajitas, huge fan of the guac. I don’t care for the margaritas so dropped a star, they kind of have a Popsicle flavor, not the ones on a stick but that came in the plastic sleeve. Love the table posters and the upside down flowers on the ceiling.

A wonderful addition to Yellow Springs! The people are friendly and the food is fresh and delicious, definitely better than any of the Tex-mex restaurants I’ve tried in Dayton. Although it’s mostly americanized standards, they’re really well done, and the menu is more extensive and interesting than similar places, with some nice variety in dishes like Mole, Tapatio, and green chile dishes. It’s easily missed on the far south end of town, but worth seeking out!

Great food, awesome décor and reasonable prices. Really dig the burritos and fajitas here. Beats going to a Abuelos or Don Pablo’s for some microwave garbage.

Good food– priced a little more that a few of the other Mex in the area. Service alert: the one waiter we had did a fine job but he was the only waiter and busser in the place which made the service slow. The place is busy enough, they need a few more folks in the front of the house.

We like to support local restaurants whenever possible and this one seems quite worthy of everyone’s patronage. There was a good dinner crowd on this Saturday. Chips and salsa were fresh and good-not much heat and salsa was smooth version, not chunky style. Pretty basic and nothing to complain about. Tecate beer with lime went well with my fish tacos, which had fresh cut red cabbage with a lightly grilled piece of fish inside a soft tortilla. Sides of guacamole, pico de gallo and a spicy chipolte sauce added great flavor. My husband had the combo fajitas with shrimp, chicken and beef along with caramelized onions and green peppers along with the usual sides. The guacamole had a good consistency and not too bitter or sweet. Portions were generous. Service was very friendly and lots of families eating there that evening. There’s a bar to sit at and a good selection of libations. Word is there will be an outdoor patio in the future.
