Kismet

i was visiting family in the area in april and just happened to stop in. i am always looking for unique looking clothing at a good price.
there was so much to choose from. there is something for everyone, at a wide range of prices.
the only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating is a website. i need a new summer dress and some cute pants. i’m dissapointed… i won’t be back in town until sept. :(

This store is great.
I grew up in Yellow Springs, so I’ve seen a lot of unusual and fun stores in town. (Anyone remember Cream of the Crop? Artisan-​made clothes and hand-​made ice cream in one store? Records and Fresh Vegetables? Vinyl LPs and houseplants?) This one is quite nice, and I loved a lot of the dresses, shirts, bags and other things in it. They have a quirky little sign in the fitting room addressed to shoplifters regarding the karma of stealing. But even aside from its lovely merchandise, I love the staff!
Last week, while visiting YS, I found a bag I wanted to buy at Kismet, and decided to go back before I left town to get it. Literally on the way to the airport. I stopped by just as the woman who runs it was leaving — she was closing up because the power had gone out and she had no lights, cash register, credit card machine. I begged her to let me in — I’ll pay cash! I’m leaving town right now and must have the bag! She let me back in and hand-​wrote me a receipt, and here I am, back in DC, with my Kismet bag.

I live in NYC and travel throughout the year for my love and job as a performer. Kismet is my favorite place to shop! They always have at least one really cool & unique item that I need or want, especially dresses. Best of all they’re affordable! Only problem is if you want something, you better buy it right away! There have been a few times that I have decided to think about buying an item, and as soon as I turned around it was purchased by someone else and sold out. I always make sure to stop by Kismet when I’m in town. I wish they had more locations around the world!

Kismet has two locations, one in Cincinnati, and one here in Yellow Springs. They are owned by the same people that run the Pangea right down the street from this location.
The store has really cute dresses, tanktops, skirts, and lingerie for women. It’s all really hip, and cute. Some of it is hippy style but other styles are modern.
Watch out as some things can be kind of cheaply made, but most of the stuff is good quality. They also have shoes that are hip and unique. Some are expensive but the flats might run you around $ 12 or so.
