After countless shopping trips up and down Central Park Avenue we made our first visit to Alamo Drafthouse for a Tuesday afternoon showing of ‘Finding Dory’. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Tuesday is Baby Day at Alamo; which translates to free admission for children. To that point, part of the ‘coming attractions’ is a message from management advising patrons that if they did not intend to spend Tuesday afternoon in a theater packed with small ones then their ticket(s) could be exchanged for another visit(kudos Alamo!). I have to admit that the concept of combining dinner(or whatever meal) & a movie into one experience is a brilliant idea, but Alamo doesn’t stop there. They offer bottomless bowls of popcorn and soft drinks as well a selection of candies to choose from(heads up, the candy choices are not on the menu [nor are they bottomless], so find our from your server before the movie starts what your options are). The menu offers a variety of appetizers, entrees(choices are standard Americana [chicken, burgers, pizza etc.], and ice cream desserts. Alamo also offers a full wet bar and ‘adult’ milk shakes, however as it was 12:30pm on a Tuesday, and I was with my 5 year old, I did not partake. The ordering process is as follows: on the ‘table’ in front of you will be pens and rectangular sheets of paper; patrons write down exactly what they want(and how they want it) from the menu and then stand the sheet of paper up longways in the rack attached to the table. Servers will pass by, review the order and confirm anything that they may not be clear on and within 15 minutes drinks/popcorn are delivered to your table; anticipate average restaurant wait times for appetizers/entrees. About 30 – 40 minutes before the movie ends the server will drop your check and return to process payment; thankfully standard forms of payment are accepted(i.e. cash, credit/debit). As I am a believer that tips are earned and not expected, if your server has taken care of you then take care of them(if you dine in NY then double the tax to calculate a tip for standard service). My entrée was served hot and fresh within 20 minutes of the movie starting and I was happy with the quality(ordered the chicken fingers and french fries). In addition to the staple ‘new releases’ Alamo also offers some retro favorites; I noticed a poster for upcoming viewings of ‘Dirty Dancing’ and I believe they will be offering ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’(what 40 year old wouldn’t love to revisit their childhood or even share that experience with their children). They even have some international offerings; I believe last year they were showing imports of Japanese animé(Dragon Ball Z etc.). All in all, great concept, good food and specials. Will be visiting Alamo again(wonder if Pee-Wee’s bicycle is in the basement? :-P).

Well. Let me start of by saying this idea to have booze, food and a movie all in one is my idea of a good relaxed day :) The last time I visited Alamo with a friend. the waitress kept screwing up our order and she took forever to take our order! I was defiantly annoyed to the 3rd power. As her accommodation, she gave us a free bucket of popcorn. Yukeeee I hate popcorn. but the idea was nice and i guess thoughtful. Every time I have eaten there. The food is always great :). The beer is always nice and cold. Great place to go on a movie date or a simple outing. One stop shop :)

What a great experience. Brunch is good, great selection of adult beverages. Popcorn is top notch. Definitely a must go for everyone. Especially when they play Classic movies like Die Hard, Sandlot and Indiana Jones.

I have to say that I really enjoy coming here for a movie. Not only is the theater clean, not your typical movie experience but also some nice surprises on the menu. I’ve come here with my kids early in the day, and it’s so much fun. Kids love fresh baked cookies with milk! This is a nice choice if you’re just going on a date. Nice selection of beer. I advice you to get there a few minutes early to read the menu because it’s hard to make a selection without disrupting folks seated beside you.

Our food took close to two hours and then was delivered incorrectly. Ordered a Royale with cheese(includes bacon). Arrived with no cheese and no bacon. Ordered a 2nd round of drinks while waiting for food order and the drinks never arrived. The waiter James said he would bring some popcorn while we wait. Popcorn never arrived. Was not easy to close out. Had to hunt the waiter James down in he kitchen as the gentleman behind the ticket counter was rude and said he can’t do anything and I should go hunt down the waiter. Such a shame as we have been looking forward to coming to the Alamo. Epic fail!

Oh man where can I start. My girlfriend, family, friends and I have been coming to Alamo almost weekly since opening week. This is quite simply THEBEST movie theater in all of Westchester. Let’s start off with the theater itself: There’s no talking, no texting, and no one under 18 allowed after a certain time. That means no packs of rowdy teenagers like Ridge Hill and City center and pure silence during the movie. Exquisite. Every theater(even the tiny one) has comfortable seats and enough space to enjoy food and drink even in a packed theater with someone next to you. The movies: Alamo has specific curators to choose selections other than what’s in general theaters at the time and this has broadened my horizons movie-wise quite a bit. I’ve seen superhero blockbusters here, classic genre-defining films, and foreign films. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bad movie at Alamo. The audiences for one off showings are also always more lively and involved than your typical moviegoer. They also hand pick what they’d like to show from general theaters here as well to avoid anything sub-par(films you wouldn’t want to pay to see in theaters) The Victory Loyalty program: Not only do we get about 1 – 2 free movies a month(again selected by curators) we get invited to sneak previews of movies not yet in theaters(awesome). We’re also constantly getting free snacks, drinks, and food. Definitely a must have membership for someone who goes to the movies a lot(did I mention it’s free?) The drinks: Alamo has about 40 beers on tap and a selection of 10 bottles and cans. Have I ever had a bad beer here? Nope. Plus, they keep seasonal favorites around as permanent editions(Kuka banana nut brown anyone?) Curated beers are changed every month so there’s always something new to try(pretty sure every beer is under $ 9) They also have a full range of high end or atypical liquors(never too expensive though) that they curate a drink menu for. They also have a few different monthly drinks based on big releases. The Service: Alamo serves food at your seat, servers typically take your order during or before previews and are super helpful if you’ve never been there before. They’re also really great about letting you know if anything isn’t available and offering suggestions. After coming to Alamo pretty much weekly for over a year my order has not been messed up ONCE, even when ordering close to the end of the movie. The Food: You’d be better off skipping dinner anywhere on Central Park Ave and coming here. For one, it’s cheaper AND it’s going to be better food overall. The food is always super consistent and there’s again changing monthly options based on big releases. The food on the menu ranges from the ultra-healthy to ultra-indulgent(triple pork burger? the burger with truffle?). There’s also yummy brunch options for showings before a certain time. I can’t recommend Alamo highly enough, if you haven’t been, go, seriously, you’ve got to experience this place for yourself. Keep up the good work Alamo, you’ve earned customers for life.

I decided to spend my Mother’s Day afternoon at Alamo Drafthouse with my kids and expected a nice time watching a movie and ordering a decent meal. It was a terrible experience. We ordered our food right before the start of The Jungle Book and it was not sent out until about 20 minutes before the end. Our waiter appeared nice but rarely approached us to ask how we were. He did provide a bowl of «on the house» popcorn since food was not coming out. The menu looks delightful but did not provide what’s expected. The fish & chips were cold, the pizza was cold, and the chicken strips were greasy. Prices are not accommodating to families. Over $ 70 to eat cold, bland overpriced food. I could have eaten out and watched our movie at Ridge Hill for less money. I will avoid this establishment and advice family and friends to do so as well.

Horrible experience. Placed the food order before the start of the movie and we did not get the order until about 20 minutes before the movie was over. The food was lukewarm and it was extremely over priced. This movie theater also plays kids movies on occasion so I don’t understand why they do not have a children’s menu. Paying $ 14 for chicken strips and french fries and $ 5 for an apple juice for a kid who will only have a couple of bites of it is a waste. In this area, you are better off going to ridge hill and having your meal at one of the restaurants there and going to the movie theater there. It will cost you the same or less but the theater is 10 times better.

Tbh if you plan on going out of the way to come here for a dine-in experience – don’t bother. The waiters will most likely screw up your order, not have what you order, or disregard you as you try to wave them down. The problem is that there’s too many people to account for and there’s not really a legitimate system to make sure the viewers get what they asked for. Stick to having your meal before or afterwards to save yourself some grief.

I’m giving it a «4» out of «5» stars. The reason being is that we ordered 2 margaritas while we waited for them to allow us to be seated and the drinks were not made well. I discretely went back to the bar and asked for a new drink. The«bartender» caught an attitude when his coworker asked him to make us new ones hence the«4» out of «5». We ended up ordering rum and soda since you can’t miss with that. That being said, service/food while seated was very good and the employees are very polite. I highly recommend. P. S.–they should get a real mixologist lol

Want dinner and a movie? This is the place to go! Been here several times and I LOVE it! Definitely order the bottomless popcorn with Parmesan cheese. The adult milkshakes are awesome!!! You will not be disappointed.

Great theatre service a little slow though. Live the idea and there are no other theaters like this in Westchester(to my knowledge) so it works.

I’ve only been there once but love, love, love the selection of cool beers, some decent wine by the bottle and really good food given the fact that it’s a movie theater. I only have a few minor suggestions. 1. Better hard liquor selection for the bar. It is somewhat limited. But this is a minor issue. 2. Ordering from a server during a film is awkward. basically have to write on a scrap piece of paper in the limited light and half the pens didn’t work. Some sort of electronic ordering system like a dimly lit ipad would be awesome and would avoid having to have to flag down a server during the movie Otherwise we’ll be back!

Pro tip, always pay using a credit card. If you leave cash the servers will always assume(and I say assume to be nice) that your change is their tip and NEVER bring it back. It’s really annoying to have to track the waiter down and ask for my change every single time that I come here. I don’t know who thinks they’re getting a $ 28 tip on a $ 22 bill.

The concept behind the Alamo Drafthouse is excellent; you can tell that they take their movies seriously. Aside from new releases, they offer various other movies and events; my favorite has been the Indiana Jones original trilogy complete with an Indy-hat-totting host. In my experience, service is hit or miss. On my most recent visit to watch Deadpool, our waiter essentially forgot we existed. Once, when he came to check if there were new orders, he took the order card and never brought the actual order. This may be the worst serving experience at the Alamo for me but not the first time encountering an inattentive waiter. The food is equally hit or miss; if you’re a glass half full type of Unilocaler, be happy that there’s better food than crusty chicken fingers like at your normal theater.

This place is a godsend! I’ve been here twice and had an overall enjoyable experience. The various selections of adult beverages are great for those who are in the 21+ club. I usually gravitate towards all things whiskey, but the beer selection is massive! The reason why I give this place 4 out of 5 stars is because of my experience ordering food off the menu… From the entrees that I’ve ordered there wasn’t anything spectacular that was worth the price to me. But one item I love off their menu is the fried pickles!!! Moving forward I’ll probably stick to that and popcorn.

I’ve been here about 8 times, and out of those times, I had one occasion where the service was pretty lacking. Every other time, the service has been top notch and the staff really busted their backs for us. I hope their quality of service isn’t going downhill, because that would be a real shame since it’s a fun place to hang out. I would have given them a 4⁄5 if it wasn’t for my last experience. The last time I was there, I ordered some beer and buttered popcorn during the previews. I didn’t get my beer until about 20 minutes into the movie, and I got my popcorn 10 minutes after that. Guess what? My popcorn didn’t have butter, the butter that I specifically wrote down on my note card! They got my butter on the second try, but that took another 30 minutes. During the entire 2 hour movie, I was only able to put two orders in. By the time my last order arrived, they had already done a final call. Lame! In my previous experiences, the servers were really on top of the orders, but this last time I felt pretty neglected. I may as well have just smuggled a tall can into a regular movie theater.

AHHHH my new favorite date night spot! Okay lets start off by saying this. Yes there are some service flaws sometimes if it is busy, yes the food is not 5 star food. HOWEVER I have had really yummy food that I have totally enjoyed there. And the fact that the menu is really diverse and pretty much fulfills any craving, is great to me. I mean food, FULLDRINKMENU including lots of great local drafts, and movies. Its like the best date night ever! We look forward to coming here so much. I usually never have trouble getting a ticket. Usually when we arrive we go right to the bar(smiley face). Last few times I have gone I ordered the bannana nut beer. I forget the brand, but it is so delicious. I love how I can get a drink in the lobby then bring it into the theatre. And you can order more from your seat. The drink menu is pretty impressive. The place seems relatively clean, cleaner then I anticpated considering how much food gets served. Sometimes you get let into the theatre later then excepted because they may have to take more time to clean right. As for the movies… sound is great. visuals are great… and I actually really enjoy the pre-show commentary. Its not the same stuff you see at the big movie theatre complexes, it is way more interesting. I am excited to come here when they are playing a movie that is not just a new release. They have special events weekly where they play older movies too. I believe they have some fun themes! This place just screams fun to me. I feel like a little kid when I go here.

I love The Alamo! I go to this location a lot– their burgers are great! I love their Makers Mark milkshakes too! I come to The Alamo especially for their drinks and food. I’m definitely a high fan! Their theaters are really comfortable as well. Love Alamo!

I need to start wearing a sign around my neck to the Alamo that says ‘SNITCH’ because I am getting so tired of the amount of families who come in with their kids, or college kids on a second date, and think no-one’s going to call them on talking. It’d be nice if management enforced decimation on the audience and kick out the first person who talks until everyone who comes to the Alamo gets the message. Otherwise I’m just tense through the whole picture. The manager who did see my card did leap to attention about the lackadasial parents and four little kids yakking in the PG-13 movie. I’m grateful that when they are called on, they get on the case. Fortunately, it is still the Alamo and it is the best spot to go see a movie. Tickets are reasonable, food and drinks are outstanding, and my waitress has done a terrific job given the tricky work environment. The pre-show specials and shorts are hilarious and I’m curious what Spanish 90s space pop was played before my showing of The Martian. I’d like to see the Alamo step up enforcement of its ‘no talking’ policy before I make this a regular haunt. It’s wonderful they chose my hometown to open their first New York theater but if they’re really going to stand out here, they need to get serious about it. Otherwise it’s Jacob Burns Film Center for me.
