A large costume rental place, lots to choose from.

I had to put up a rating and review after reading some of the reviews. We have a special events and entertainment business, yep a small business, like Beyond Costumes, who has added a whole new inventory of costumes from Creative Costumes which was another great small costume renting business in NYC. I use this business to rent costumes for our professional actors and variety performers and I cannot, and should not, go to Party City to do that. They have authentic and beautifully constructed pieces, an decent selection of period costumes (wish their period hats were better organized and displayed) — we just costumed the Royal Family and Kensington Palace guards this week. If you are a costume designer I feel they are certainly worth a look and wish they had their inventory online but they’ve got everyone extra sewing, which tells you they are busy. At least 2 to 3 sales costumers available to help, who are always busy when not helping, tweaking, cleaning and steaming items that go back into their stock! If a costume smells musty in other words, they are more than happy to clean as it hasn’t been worn or cleaned that year (I admit, like some formal wear in my closet). Discounts to student productions, which makes me want to support them even more. Well run and helpful small business which I wish there were more of instead of Party City.

One of my best friends apparently remembered this place from his high school days and decided to take me. We need costumes for an «Arabian Nights» theme party on short notice. Obviously i wouldn’t have minded going to Party City but i knew they would prob have basic limited selection of «Arabian /​Aladdin» type costumes. Normally out of the way off the map places specializing in costumes and uniforms have the best selections. Of course walking into this place made me feel like I was walking into one of those «Canal St bootleg warehouses that are guarded by the Asian Mafia at every exit.»
We had to ring the doorbell and be buzzed in, the place was huge. Had pretty much every thing from Gorilla Suits, to the Wolfman and Police Uniforms. Kind of scary that people if they wanted to prob could dress up in NYPD or FDNY uniforms and go Ben Affleck and Jeremy Renner ala «The Town» on regular people for the right rental price. Any way i wasn’t pleased that some of the stuff had that «musty rental smell» from the previous renters but i had to soldier and sift through the choices. My buddy found me a vest that had bells on it so basically everytime i moved it jingled, it was the perfect vest as i was going shirtless and wrapping my head in a turban like Aladdin. We found gold pants as well that would have gone great with it but the lady said it was $ 55 dollars to rent. I was like WHAT THE HELL IS SHE TALKING ABOUT $ 55. She felt bad and dropped it to $ 50 but i decided to just get the vest and it was only $ 25. Talk about price gouging, my god! Overall i guess if you can talk whoever the owner down or the person ultimately negotiating the price with you, then this place isn’t so bad. In my opinion order your costume online if you know your sizes or stick with a chain like Party City.

Halloween is right around the Corner and In that spirit of the Holiday I am writing this Review. This Place is the best place in westchester and Beyond that has over 20,000 Costumes instock for rent or sale in a 12,000 sq foot Warehouse in South Yonkers. they supply broadway with their costumes authtic period costumes from all Peirod, Monkey suits you name it they got it.
So this year instead of buying a crappy costume for 80 plus 50 for the accesories you can rent a quality costume and all the accesories and custom Tailoring included for around 80 bucks.
