Excellent food. Great place for a gathering and the menu and selection is great for everyone. Also, the carry-out food is great.

Ok, so I can’t really review the atmosphere and décor of this spot because I order takeout from this spot. However, I will say the food here is amazing. I order delivery from here at least twice a week and I’m never disappointed. Everything from there chicken parmigiana to there salad is great. And portions are large. Prompt delivery and cool delivery guys are also a plus. I highly recommend this restaurant and one day will revisit this review if I ever sit down to dine from here.

I’ve been living in Yonkers for close to 3 years and it’s been kinda hard getting some good New York City style pizza… I’ve found like one or two places that are very good and now I have found another one! Carlo’s pizza is fantastic… i had a regular slice and a bacon chicken ranch and they were both phenomenal! The regular slice tasted like I was back in the Bronx getting a slice from Arthur Ave! Definitely have to come back!

So here’s the deal: it’s a casual family Italian restaurant full of go-to classics and inspired specials. I usually go for the classics, so I will list some of my faves: Penne all a vodka which I now get with whole wheat pasta, gnocchi bolonese, chicken scappariello, eggplant a la Pisa, clams oreganata, and always a side of sautéed broccoli rabe! Their pizzas are also very good, but I prefer the personal 12″ pizzas. It’s a very casual place so the servers are super friendly and the service is not uptight at all, which I love. There can be a long wait for take-out most nights and some nights in the restaurant too, but it’s so worth it! In my opinion, the best Italian-American food in Yonkers.

Carlo’s is a comfortable family-type Italian restaurant. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately acknowledged and seated within 3 minutes. Cool! However, we placed our orders and it took our server a while to bring water to the table. She was nice to leave a pitcher of water with us just to make things easier– for her I guess. Service was lacking greatly but on the whole, our server was very pleasant and had a nice demeanor. I do understand that servers put a lot focus on pacing dishes, but damn, it was not your typical wait between plates, it just dragged and dragged and I need it to get it together. My daughter’s chicken parmigiana and my chicken with sherry sauce were in fact savory, however, it would be nice if Carlo’s would put more emphasis on their vegetables. Although garlicky, my escarole was highly watery, my daughter’s broccoli seemed as if Carlo’s just took the whole crown, steamed it with garlic and placed it in a bowl– was also watery. Just a little drive away from White Plains, if I’m in the area, ok– I guess… I’m just not desperately running to eat watery vegetables.

Delivery review only: Ordered a White Pizza and a Chicken Parm hero on Garlic Bread.(Via GrubHUB) Delivery was prompt, on a Friday night it only took them 42 minutes(I timed them). The pizza was better than most Yonkers pizzerias. It had a good crust and the cheese wasn’t bland(common issue with most white pies). The hero was huge, good sauce, healthy amount of chicken, decent cheese. The garlic bread garlic was a little too strong almost raw/undercooked tasting. Can’t complain, I’ve certainly had worse.

Very very good food. Have gluten free options that are quite comparable in quality to regular food. Awesome servers. Only problem is the wait. It takes a VERY long time to get your food. If you are up for a leisurely meal, this is a good spot.

The 2 stars is for the great food they USED to have. I was literally obsessed with the food from here. The last 2 times we have ordered from here it has been almost inedible. Ordered veal parm about 2 mins ago and it tasted straight up sour/spoiled. I had to toss it. My husband always gets linguine w red clam sauce and it’s been awful the last 2 times. His«go-to» chicken scarp was as dry as bone this time. This was our fave place and dishes that used to be SO good. What happened??? I also have to cosign the horrible delivery man– who scoffed at our 7 $ tip(for 35 $ worth of food) and told me that it was inadequate! Also the side pasta was literally a tub of glue and I wanted to barf even tasting it. Sad to say I’m done w this place after years of good meals.

We just came back from another wonderful night at Carlos. We always have the lobster ravioli and hot n sweet pepper pork chops. The chops are always huge and juicy. The lobster ravioli is always tasty and made fresh. The warm bread that is served while you wait is made fresh and it’s to die for. For apps we usually get the mussels and calamari which are also very tasty. We’ve also ordered a few other items in the past which are good like the pork braciole and chicken parm. I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong if you closed your eyes and picked anything random.

If you’ve got a craving for classic Italian food then Carlo’s will definitely hit the spot. The portions are ginormous and you can pretty much find any staple Italian menu item here. Although the food is slammin’, the reason for three stars is the painfully slow service. It’s always crowded here, and when I was in on a Wednesday I could have easily mistaken it for a Saturday night. The large crowd shouldn’t be an excuse for how slow the service was, especially since this is something that they should be used to accommodating! We waited over a full hour in between our appetizer and main course, and the waiter didn’t seem apologetic at all. They also brought out all of our food without serving utensils and it took a good few minutes to flag someone down for that every time. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way I do need to talk about how yummy everything that we ordered was. Five of us shared three apps and four entrees and we left absolutely stuffed. We started off with calamari, goat cheese and berry salad and a burrata. The burrata was melt in your mouth perfection and the calamari was thick and crispy. For mains we split chicken parm, shrimp parm, penne vodka and veal picatta. Everything was classic and delicious and smothered in cheesy and saucy goodness. Sluggish service aside, I’ll most certainly return when I’m craving a hearty Italian meal. Sometimes you just need that chicken parm and penne vodka fix!

First of all I placed my order over the phone due to numerous complaints about their online system. My call was met with the rudest most obnoxious man in the food service industry after being transferred 3 times. Not only was I rushed through my order with a «what else» or «next» when I paused to breathe but he tried to hang up on me twice while ordering. This guy was talking to other people while taking my order and then had an attitude when he didn’t hear my order correctly. It takes a lot for me to get annoyed with people due to their discourteous attitudes since I’m from the Bronx and I work in NYC but he was OD. Food was about what I expected. Average pizza shop American Italian food. It arrived promptly and the delivery man was a sweetheart. I was still outraged but how rude this dude was and the food was not worth ordering again if I had deal with this guy.

Pasta with broccoli rabe, bracciole with rigatoni, Chicken Scarpariello usually outstanding but past two times not quite the same. Arugula salad and potato croquettes really good.

TL;DR Waited close to an hour and a half for seating. Waited an hour for food(pasta). After the hour of waiting for dinner, when the food was finally brought out, one of the members of our group was told that his dish wasn’t available… an hour after he ordered it. The manager came out and said«I’ll make it up to you.» The substitute late dish came 15 minutes later(penne vodka, no meat). We were charged for the whole meal and offered nothing to make up for the poor experience. No toilet paper in the bathroom. Almost slipped on a huge spill by the kitchen. At least our waitress was nice. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a restaurant experience worse than what happened to my group tonight at Carlos’. I will say, at the very least, when the food did come out it was decent. I went to Carlos with a group of 6 on a Saturday night with a full understanding that we’d be in for a wait. The hostess told us that she was saving two tables for our party that she would join together, which was great. Very shortly after that we realized that she clearly had no intention of keeping her promise and another group was seated at our«promised» table. With that, we had slightly over an hour wait, watching group after group after group get seated before us. All the same we knew we had a large group and were understanding. So, an hour and a half later we finally got seated and placed our order. The food took an hour to arrive. Four orders of pasta, one steak, and one chicken parmigiana. When the food finally did come, one member of our party was notified that his order was actually not available… an hour after he ordered it. So he substituted it for Penne Vodka, no additions, just penne and the sauce. The manager came up to us five minutes later and said«I’ll make it up to you.» The dish finally came out 10 minutes later, while the the rest of us were finishing up. Despite the«I’ll make it up to you,» we were charged for the entire meal and offered nothing to make up for the terrible experience. It was one of those nights that was so bad it was laughable. At the end of the meal, I went to use the restroom. No toilet paper. As I came out of the restroom, I narrowly avoided slipping on a massive spill by the kitchen. At the very least, the staff was kind enough to direct me around the spill. Small positives, the food did come out well enough, and our waitress did the best she could despite the circumstances.

Carlos gets two stars because the food is ok. However, I had the worst delivery experience. I have never dined at the restaurant and have heard good things about the food. I ordered online and the it said the food would be delivered within 45 minutes. 55 minutes later, the restaurant called and said they did not have one of the meals we ordered. I called the restaurant about an hour and a half later and asked if they were still delivering, if not we would pick it up because we were hungry. The lady who answered the phone was not pleasant, said they were busy and the delivery should arrive soon. Rude. The food was not delivered until 2 hours and 10 minutes. We live less than ten minutes away from this restaurant and it took them an hour to call me to tell me they didn’t have what we ordered and over two hours to deliver our food. By the time we got our food, it was cold. Never again.

I dined at Carlo’s this evening with my family and had a marvelous time. After some tasty sesame breadsticks, the food was delivered quite quickly by a friendly waitress. It was also awesome to see a little old Italian man providing help to customers. The clams were very tasty… The flavorful breading was what convinced me, a seafood hater, to sample these complexly delicious appetizers. The chicken francais made my order complete. I’m no stranger to this dish, as I try to order it whenever I can. Truthfully, this is one of the best I’ve ever had. The lemon/wine sauce was perfectly crafted to compliment the thinly pounded chicken breast. Overall, the dining area is a little crammed but that just means the customers kept rolling in. :)

Carlo’s is one of our favorite places to eat in Westchester County. Not only is the food delicious, the staff is very friendly. We’re not surprised that the restaurant is always busy. It’s that good! You can eat downstairs or upstairs. We’ve tried multiple dishes and we’re always satisfied. If you like Italian food, you’ll enjoy Carlo’s!

I believe Yogi Berra said it best about Carlo’s: nobody goes there anymore; it’s too crowded. Luckily, this particular Sunday night, we got a table without waiting. And the reason for all this patronage? Well it’s the unusual combination of excellent Italian cuisine and warm, friendly service. We particularly enjoyed the Eggplant alla Pisa; usually served as an appetizer, but like most dishes at Carlo’s, the generous portion is enough as an entrée. Buona Appetito!
