I believe Bogey Macaws has the ability to be a great family fun restaurant. I’ve attended two birthday parties at this location. The kids had a blast both times. The cabanas for the parties are nice and private and a comfortable size. The games in the arcade were catered to children of all ages. I only came across one game that wasn’t functioning correctly(didn’t give the tickets won) but I alerted the attendant and she fixed it right away… although she seemed a little annoyed. I love that this restaurant has the play area for running and climbing. Another positive point I’d award this restaurant is for the food. I ordered from the menu, which had a good amount of options, I enjoyed my meal. The only thing holding this restaurant back from being great was the service. Nobody was rude, and the food was served warm and in a timely manner, but there just was a lack of enthusiasm from the staff and a lack of organization to the party. It just felt un-hosted. Often you would see the wait staff just hanging around the hostess station chatting. I’m all for coworkers talking to each other and having a good time, I think it inspires a more rewarding environment that makes for a happier staff who will provide better service for the business, but all the work has to be done as well(the bathroom could have used a cleaning). I think that maybe this particular place just needs stronger direction from leadership and maybe more education on service excellence. Importantly, I need to say that this review is just on my experience of ONE morning, it could have just been a fluke. I’ve not attended enough times to really make a fair assessment of the restaurant’s usual operation. But still, this morning’s experience was only fair. I will go back and hope for better. Hopefully, after another visit, I will be able to revise this review to great.

We were going to eat there after taking the kids to the game room but once we went in there, we then decided not to stay. Half of the games were out of order and most of the others were out of tickets. Would tell someone who works there about the tickets not coming out and they seemed to not care at all. They also had maybe 15 prizes to choose from total. I could have dealt or somewhat understood if the people that worked there were nicer but they basically quickly dismissed everyone that went up and talked to them /asked for help. I worked in the restaurant business for years so I can be sympathetic but this place was awful.

I was here one time and it was awesome. I have continued to go back because of the once awesome experience, but they have been consistently bad every time I’ve been there since. The food is mediocre and overpriced. The servers are friendly but ridiculously slow. Its not been busy the half a dozen times I’ve been there, but the servers seem to disappear and don’t come back to check on you. It’s unfortunate because they have the potential to do and be so much better.

We were there for a Paint Nite and had dinner first. Our pretzel appetizer had a cheese sauce that was okay, but looked old. The nacho supreme dinner was not hot, beef was warm and cheese was not hot. The waitress did not know how to answer a question about a meal. It said battered chicken and when asked to clarify, she said it was grilled. For $ 58(three meals) I can get better food and hot/cooked food at many other places in York. Also, due to the arcade, kids were just RUNNING everywhere, several completely unsupervised.

Great view from the deck. Food was good, unfortunately silverware was not provided for a long time. A little disorganized.

Food sucked, service was good. Game room was alright. The food made me horribly sick, if you’re going to make seafood make sure it’s healthy to eat.

After deciding with a bunch of daycare parents that this would be a good place to meet with kids, we quickly found out the place was lacking in maintenance! Not only were half of the machines in the play area not functional, the parking lot looked like a mini Grand Canyon, the ball pit needed serious work and the restaurant had out-dated posters hanging up of places that have been closed for well over a year. Our poor waitress had to deal with an incompetent kitchen staff, and after only 1 apology for having to wait over an hour for our children’s food it was hardly comped any for the time we wasted. I used to love this place but this recent adventure has made me rethink my position on Bogey McCaws. We had several young children between us all to keep happy and entertained until their food was served. The wings weren’t even the flavor I ordered but I did not want to wait another hour for a new order! After 3 hours at this establishment I feel like it would be a waste to go back anytime soon!

Meh, you can take beers to go while golfing, food and atmosphere are pretty weak

2÷26÷15 at night YES…it is hard to find. There is a lit sign on Springwood and when you look to the left you see Bogey’s off in the distance all lit and shiny, looking very much like a well lit beige barn but there is a lot of emptiness in between. Okay…so it’s not really emptiness, it’s a golf course. In February, at night, {{emptiness}} is as good as any descriptor. You have to be {{alert}} once you make the turn to Chestnut Hill… I past the entrance 3X. Don’t laugh… :( It looks like you are turning into a housing development and… you ARE. Tons of parking! {{HUGE}} parking lot. Lots of potential for a good adult hang out but they have a game room and a pit area for kids. Why can’t they go to Chucky Cheese? *pout* OR… after 9pm it could become an adult venue. Just seems to me selling alcohol in a truly family friendly venue is just WRONG. The menu offers a really nice beer/ale list, decent wines and I think there is a full bar but I’m not sure. Dining…ACK!!! 90% of their menu is fried and they had PLASTIC table cloths on the tables in our room. {{PLASTIC}} and they knew to expect adults. I might go back in the warmer months for shits and giggles. From the reviews I read it would be nice. What did I eat? Mussels Prince Edward Island… okay sauce but very salty and two glasses of wine. Everyone at my table had varied artery clogging concoctions.

Food is awful. We went for our nephews birthday party. The kids enjoyed the play area but I have to say it was the worst pizza I have ever had.

Love the outdoor bar seating that overlooks the golf course. Play area for kids. Delicious nachos, burgers, hot dogs and salads. I have never had a bad meal here. Brunch is very good(but very basic… not a fancy brunch, but delicious and great for the family) Will be back for sure!!! Service was super friendly.

Not thrilled. Casey(new waitress) did a nice job but the service was SLOW. :30 passed and we had drinks only on the table. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night. The patio looked like a good crowd from what I could see… The manager came to our table to apologize but no offer on the check, like a drink or some other minor discount gesture… you should do this… Once our food hit the table and couple of other tables were seated in our area, there was plenty of good follow up attention. Thank you Casey! My pizza special of the night was very good, preceded by their tomato soup which was also very good! The fish platter for the 14-month old was also very good. A meatloaf dinner, salad with chicken and another fish dish were very good. So, a slight redemption with the food quality but you still can’t make people wait like that on a slow night… We’ll be back for the patio sunsets… but waiting on dinner with a 14-month old can’t happen again. Cheers…

Extremely disappointing!!! We went here last night to have a nice family birthday dinner for my four year olds… big mistake! We were seated in an area so dark, it was difficult to read the menu. The service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was less than 25% full. The server was rude and incompetent. We had to ask multiple times to get the tokens and wristbands that should have come with the kids’ meals. She had a bad attitude whenever we asked for something. After getting up for a bit to visit the kids play area, we came back to a table that was covered in dirty plates, some of which weren’t even ours! The food was overpriced and underwhelming. We will never eat there again.

The food here is over priced and very inconsistent at best. We have been going back based on the fact they have new management… yet things still have not improved. The kid room is great and drinks on the patio are nice.

i recently met three friends for dinner here on a Wednesday night. we were seated promptly — but that was almost the only thing that was good. Our server was pleasant but the service was soooooo slow. The restaurant was only moderately busy. A long wait between drinks, entrees, getting the check, etc. And the food — my French dip sandwich bordered on disgusting. Dry, overcooked beef looked like it had been sitting around for a week. It was served on a huge pillowy white bun(think Wonder Bread) with what was described as horseradish sauce but tasted like poor quality mayo. The french fries, however, were crispy and plentiful. Very mediocure at best– I won’t return by choice.

We eat here quite a bit. Great place for a family with young kids. The food is surprisingly good and there is a decent selection. There is almost never a wait because it is tucked away by itself on a golf course and I think people forget it is there. Some have disparaged the play area, but we think it’s great. It gives the kids something to do so my wife and I can eat in peace. There is a big ball pit and a bunch of games where the kids can win tickets to get cheap prizes. The prizes are junk, but it keeps the kids entertained. Sort of like Chuck E Cheese without the chaos. We’ve had a birthday party here and the kids loved it. The outdoor patio is very nice in the summer. It has a nice view of the golf course. The service is usually very good, but can be variable depending on the waitress. The bar area is very open, has a good selection and has a few TV’s with whatever sports game is on. The prices are reasonable, 7 – 10 for burgers and wraps, and $ 5 more for most of the entrees.

DONOT, I REPEAT, DONOT attempt to go to this place at nite, in the dark, esp if u have a hard time seeing at nite! It is located in the weirdest place for a restaurant, the entrance is between houses… however, the food was decent and the kids had an absolute blast in the game room. They did accomodate us, since we got SO lost and there were only like 10 mins to closing, so, thk u for that. Anyway, pretty good place for a family with kids.

I very rarely come here to eat. The food is so-so, but the outdoor patio is the draw. Sitting outside on a nice night and watching the sun set on the golf course is great! They have great white sangria in the summer and other cocktails. Service is always great. Indoor décor is tacky, but you dont go there to sit inside. Not sure what is the deal with the new fun area in the banquet room? Kind of weird. I would think that having weddings in that room would be more lucrative.

I found Bogey Macaws while searching and headed to York to celebrate an early Valentine’s Day dinner with my sweetie. The restaurant is tucked back in a development on the far edge of the Springwood golf course and presumably the place is new. The place has that«tropical» feeling– light colors, palm trees, nautical & island décor. Normally, I would find it cheesy, but this is more like a resort in Disney World, it’s fake but cool. Everything is new and fresh. The bar dominates the room. The view of the golf course at sunset out the giant wall of windows was amazing. There are two roofed-in smaller dining rooms that look like cabanas. It’s charming but the effect is that all conversation and laughter inside is amplified for everyone else to hear. The menu is confusing but it says right up front that it’s a work in progress i.e. nowhere on the drink menu is sangria listed, but on the menu above the salads, it says«perfect with sangria.» Our waitress(Lauren?) had such a deep tan, she looked like she just walked off the beach. She was knowledgeable and answered all our questions happily. Before taking our order, she brought over a basket of fresh, warm rolls and a plastic cup of butter. The rolls were pretty darn good. The calamari I ordered was tasty but the rings were very small(nickel sized) and not particularly crunchy. The room-temperature sauce tasted like it came from a jar. I had to ask for lemon and was brought 3 half slices, on a napkin, from the bar. My sweetie had a bowl of crab bisque and it was pretty incredible. Thick, rich and full of floating hunks of crab meat. For entrees we both had the special, half price snow crab clusters and peel-and-eat shrimp. We had another round of Q&A with the waitress since neither of those items were exactly on the menu. The shrimp was straightforward. The Crab Clusters are listed as a «bucket» item on the menu and come with corn on the cob & potatoes. As the special they came with nothing. So we both ordered sides ala carte. I had the«creamed spinach & cheese» and hand-cut french fries. He had fingerling potatoes and corn on the cob. Our seafood came in an oversized galvanized bucket. We were instructed us to pull out the seafood and put shells in the bucket. My shrimp were EZ-peel, cleaned, liberally doused with Old Bay, LARGE, tender and quite perfect. Again I had to ask for lemon and got a few slices on a napkin from the bar. I also had to ask for cocktail sauce. The spinach was way too tiny a portion for $ 3. It was also completely devoid of cheese, as indicated by the listing in the menu. I’ve had creamed spinach before and this wasn’t it. This was wilted spinach with a thin cream-like sauce pooled on the plate underneath it. It tasted good but it wasn’t what I expected. The hand-cut french fries were kind of smooshed in a basket. These could have been great had they been left in the fryer for about 5 more minutes. They were pale, limp, not crispy and a little underdone. Someone needs to instruct the cook on the fine art of blanching and double frying. The crab clusters were fresh and perfectly cooked. They came with a large bowl of melted butter. The side of fingerling potatoes comprised 7 halves of small fingerlings, browned. Too small a portion for $ 3. The corn looked frozen, reheated and held. The waitress came over to our table way to frequently-like 15 times– interrupting the conversation. We asked for the dessert menu and she made a face and said they were out of all but one thing. I gave Bogey’s 3 stars because the food was good but it seems like they need a little more time to get organized.
