Never purchase the extras at David’s Bridal of York. We purchased a gown for my daughter’s wedding and were advised we should also purchase a slip and molded cup, which we did, believing our consultant. We got to the alterations appointment(not with David’s Bridal — they really soak you for alterations) and the first thing the lady asked was«Why did you buy a slip and cup — you don’t need them). Well now we all know why — and we all know why those sales receipts are marked«FINAL». David’s doesn’t want you to discover after you leave the store that they hosed you. They would not accept a return of something never even worn. To add insult to injury — the gal who waited on us was a friend of my daughter.

Alright, we didn’t have an appointment, but the dress was picked, and one bridesmaid just wanted to verify that she was ordering the right size since she wasn’t at the appointment the day before. Since they had the sample in her size in stock and the dress was already PICKEDOUT and my party set up with the store, and we had just had our appointment the day before, we thought it wouldn’t be so hard for her to just pop in and try it on. After all, this isn’t a «boutique». It’s DB. Wrong, we had to wait an hour, because they insisted that someone wait on us. We kept saying we were JUST there the day before(the bridesmaid couldn’t make it) and she just needed to make sure she was getting the right size. I mean, there were empty dressing rooms, and the dress was visibly on the rack. When we were finally waited on, the lady that waited on us was shocked that we had needed to wait, since we had the dress in hand, and she literally had to do nothing to help us. Also, they never ever called when anyone’s dress came in. I had to keep calling and checking because all but one dress had come in, and it was the same size as 3 of the other ones, AND it was ordered the same weekend. So when I called to check and see if it came in, they asked me if I had received a phone call or email about it. I replied that I had not, but I also hadn’t received it for anyone else’s dress that was ordered at the same time and had come in a month earlier. They told me it wasn’t there. Two days later I had to stop in for an alterations appointment(just a bustle which wasn’t a problem) and my Maid of Honor mentioned the one dress we were waiting on. OHWHAT A SURPRISE, IT’S HERE! Well, even though all the girls tried the dresses in store, all but one needs alterations, either because they can’t sit down in the dress, or because the«floor length» dress is too short and looks stupid. I would say«you get what you pay for» but in wedding world, even«discount» isn’t cheap.

Avoid this store at all costs. The staff has no idea what they are doing and no one talks to each other. I’m a plus-size and know that many bridal stores do not carry many plus size dresses to try on, so I called ahead to make sure they’d have the dress I wanted in the size I need. They said they would order it for me and I made an appointment for the following week. When I got to my appointment the pushy woman in front wouldnt let us go back to the fitting area until we filled out paperwork. I found out later that they sell your info to spammers. While we filled out paperwork there was a long line at the front register and only one girl ringing people up. The front entrance was very crowded and people were very annoyed. We finally went back and met our consultant, only to find that the store did not have the dress I had ordered. Not just they didn’t have the right size, they didn’t have the dress in ANY size! The woman also told me that the stores policy is to not order any dresses unless they’re paid for. I asked her what she expected me to do, since I’m not going to buy a dress I havent seen. She suggested I try on some similar styles. And there you have the core of David’s Bridal’s game. They promise you whatever you want in order to get you into the store and get your information. Then they pull a bait & switch. Luckily the Harrisburg store had the dress, although the store’s policy states they can not move a dress from one store to the other so we had to drive up to Harrisburg and pick it up ourselves. David’s bridal is the Walmart of wedding stores. The money you’re trying to save on the dress will be paid for in frustration and spam emails(and phone calls… And mail…).
