Dunkin’ Donuts

This morning I had the best DD chocolate glazed donut I’ve had in a decade. Perfectly cooked, soft and none of that weird crispy bits so many reheated DD donuts have lately. And my medium coffee with sugar was perfect. Thanks!

I have such a conflicted relationship with this DD, however, the most recent event here has definitely turned me off for good.
Background: this is the only non-McD’s drive-​thru coffee/​bagel thing available on my morning commute. For that reason, and that reason only, I have spent more money here than I should have.
I have been to many other DD’s in my lifetime. In general they are «meh» so it’s not like I am expecting perfection from this location. But for some unknown reason this location’s coffee is really, really terrible. I don’t know if it is the water they use or what but every coffee and ice coffee I have ever gotten here has this weird sour — yes sour– flavor that I have not experienced at other locations.
Their bagels are ridiculously inconsistent. If you go right after they are made and are still hot they can be a beautiful thing. In approximately 50 stops, this has happened once. ONCE. Some of the time they are decent. However, on too many occasions I’ve gone and the bagel has been straight up legit STALE. Like at least 2 days old. I’m also not a big fan of their cream cheese.
On a side note, I am fairly certain I got food poisoning here last week as it is the only meal that I had that was different from my other family members and I was the only one to get a ridiculous stomach problem. So there’s that.
The *only* reason I have given them a 2 star review and not one star is because they actually have very pleasant service. Every person that has waited on me has been nice and friendly.
Moral of the story: this was a long-​winded entry to encourage you to go somewhere else. Even going without coffee because nothing is better than what you will get here.
