Judge for yourself, check financials, check if any dancers have ever gone on to dance professionally and if you think your child has a chance then definately check all schools in the area. But don’t go in blindly check everything!

Large dance studio. You will not get personal attention at this studio. I took my 13 year old daughter here. Since I have a background in dance I knew a good bit about what my daughter needed. I spoke to the owner to ask about my daughter taking more ballet classes. I was requesting at least one a day. You would think a business person would readily agree to the customer spending more money. I was told my daughter was too old to be starting ballet and I should focus on the recreational aspect. Interestingly enough, I drove out to Carlisle, PA to try take a placement class at Central PA Youth Ballet. Guess who was there with her daughter? The owner of Greater York Dance. That spoke volumes to me! Three years later my daughter is still at CPYB and can seriously compete for a professional ballet job in the near future. This would not have been the case at Greater York. If you are just looking for a recreational experience and you don’t mind no one knowing you child’s name, this may fill the bill. Though, I would suggest York Dance Arts for a more intimate recreational experience. And if you think your son or daughter may want to go the professional route go with CPYB. It is best to get proper training from the beginning. They have a location in Camp Hill for the lower levels. You will be able to find someone from York to carpool with. Edit: 11÷6÷2015 Response to Greater York Dance owner’s comment: Nearly everything in your response is untrue. Hopefully, you have me confused with someone else. Otherwise you are completely lying to which I would warn potential dance families to be very wary. As far as the studio not having an owner, you may use the non-profit status for tax purposes but Lori’s mother started the studio and Lori and her husband Steve still run it. They are the owners I was referring to. I did not ask for my daughter to be placed in an advance level. I asked for her to be allowed to take extra classes so she could advance more quickly. When we took her to CPYB, where she still dances, they put her in the lowest level. She quickly moved up and in 3 ½ years she is now in their highest level. That couldn’t have been accomplished at Greater York because Lori told me I was wasting my money putting a 13 year old into dance. We lived in York, PA not FL. I was at every lesson she attended at Greater York. I sat in the parents waiting room. There was no issue with Lori getting in touch with me. She actually yelled at me for coming up to her when she walked in the building to ask her questions. I am even more firm in my warning to potential dance families. Look elsewhere for you child’s dance education.
