The cleanest and roomiest Primanti’s I’ve been to. We dined here twice, once during slow hours and the 2nd on a busy hour. Never once were our waiters not attentive, however the only thing to complain about is their sandwich ratio, we ordered the pastrami sandwich and that thing was piled high with everything but the meat. It was like 2 thin layers and fries were cold on both visits so that was a let down. The tomatoes that were in the sandwich made the bread very soggy. If you get tomatoes, ask for it on the side. Their cold slaw was kinda sour as well. Overall it’s not that bad, we would definitely come back.

This is my 2nd time driving from Delaware to this location. My husband fell in love with this franchise while traveling for work. We were here after the lunch rush about 1:30pm. The food was excellent but the service was horrible. We waited at least 5 minutes to be acknowledged. Then she only came back to the table after we were done eating. A refill of my drink would have been appreciated while eating the huge sandwich.

Hot, fresh, and delicious! The original sandwiches are something to experience, but I dig the fried pickles! Super friendly staff and manager. We always stop in on our way down 83. Do it.

Full disclosure… I’m not a fan of the famous Primanti Brothers sandwiches for a variety of reasons. But my boyfriend is. That means every so often I find myself at a Primanti’s location… especially if he wants to surround himself with a Pittsburgh crowd for a big game. The set up for the York location is excellent for watching your game of choice. It seems just about every seat has a view of at least 2 or 3 tvs. If you really want to see a game here, arrive early… the place can be mobbed for a big game. There’s a good selection of beer with quite a few seasonals on tap. It’s the food that leaves me flat. My bf does love the sandwiches so he’s always happy. To my tastebuds, their fries are not cooked properly. I rarely find a crispy one… at least on a sandwich. Maybe if you get a basket of fries they come out better. I usually end up with the house salad with grilled chicken on top. It’s ok. It’s not that it’s flat-out bad or anything, but I really shouldn’t expect a fantastic salad from a place that slaps a handful of fries on nearly every other dish. The chicken they put on the salad is amazingly bland. A little seasoning would help a lot. The service isn’t bad. They do get incredibly busy so sometimes you may not see your server for a while because they’re running around. Primanti’s is a place I don’t really look forward to going to, but it’s okay

This place is much different from the locations in Pittsburgh, but I can understand why. They need to appeal to a different group of people in the family based city of York, PA. However, when doing this it lost a bit of its charm. The service was pretty good. We were seated right away, even though they were pretty busy with the lunch rush. The gentleman that waited our table was helpful suggesting items when we asked. He also was glad to give us insight into different items on the menu. We ordered a couple Primanti’s original sandwiches and an onion rings starter. The onion rings were delicious but I wouldn’t recommend the turkey and cheese sandwich. The French fries where not very hot and the turkey meat kind of gets lost with all the other stuff in the sandwich. I did have a bite of my husbands corn beef sandwich and it was very good. I think I’ll be having that next time.

Great local bar with its custom Pennsylvania style sandwich. Fries and coleslaw all inside the big sandwich.

First visit was weekend of first annual celebration. Many appetizers were unavailable because they sold out. Food was cold, was supposed to be hot sandwiches. Service was apparently exhausted from the weekend because they seemed very tired.

Omg! How could they burn chili? This time I was super disappointed. The bread seemed dry and stale and the sandwich was downright skimpy… not much meat or cheese. Get a handle on portion size and quality! And serve French fries that are fresh, not reheated.

Recently tried Primanti Bros in Wheeling WV and decided to take my other half here in York, PA to share. Fried pickles are a great app … Just be careful as the pickle juice gets really hot and when you bite into them you can easily burn your mouth ! Quite tasty ! I had the Pastrami and enjoyed it ! Order your fries on the side if you don’t enjoy both coleslaw and fries on top of everything else … Yeah, I know the story behind it, don’t care … Prefer to eat fries on the side. I really love fresh bread like Primanti uses but kinda wished I had seen the option to have it toasted, perhaps I missed it ! Staff were great ! Pleasant … Attentive … Non intrusive Place is chaotic and noisy but fun :-) we sat at the bar and enjoyed our dinner. Can’t wait to come back when it’s warmer and they have the garage doors up so it becomes an indoor /outdoor place. Oh, be careful trying to get into this location … Very easy to see from 83 … But A crap shoot to get in the parking lot … Drive slow, very poorly laid out and not safe @ all. Too much commercial business packed poorly together … Seriously, what did the people that laid out this plan of ingress /egress smoke?

Visited the restaurant recently after they had been open for a couple months. Overall good service. It appears the menu selections are better than the Primanti Bros in Pittsburgh. I really do not like the cook station at the bar area. I watched the bartender not wash their hand and assist in the cooking of eggs and sandwiches. I believe the cooking would have been best suited to stay in the kitchen and have the bartenders focus on the guests. Not sure if I will visit anytime soon. Also, it is a pain to get to the location coming from N. York. Update — 4⁄10 Arrived at restaurant at 11AM. Sat at a high top by the bar. After 5 minutes was approached by the host who told us that no one was assigned to that table. We could move to a table 8 feet away. What? That makes a lot of sense. We asked why someone could not pick up the table the host mentioned something about«rotation». Does anyone understand we are the guest? Jodi the bartender was awesome and said she would take care of us. Thanks Jodi! Better management is needed here. Will drive to Pittsburgh if I want Primanti’s in the future.

So glad Primanti Bros came to York! It’s a fun, inexpensive experience every time. I usually go for the traditional Primanti sandwich with ham and cheese-so good! It does get busy, so I definitely recommend getting there early to put your name on the list.

This was our first time experiencing Primanti Bros and I really enjoyed it! It took a solid ten minutes for our waitress to serve us, but it was especially busy for 3:30 lunch and the atmosphere is so great that we didn’t mind. I ordered the ham and salami double meat sandwich and my boyfriend got the pastrami and corned beef double meat sandwich. I really enjoyed it! The fries add the perfect touch to it and you can tell the meat is fresh. My only complaint is that like many reviewers said before, the coleslaw is mediocre. Had zero flavor and could have been a lot better with more mayo and salt. Biggest piece of advice? Splurge the 1.50 and get a kosher pickle. One of the best I’ve ever had! I definitely would come back, I can’t wait to try the fried fish sandwich next.

I have been to two Primanti Brothers locations in South FL. One of which offers a full dining experience like this one in York. I recently dined here for lunch… THEGOOD… –seated promptly –server was nice –buffalo shrimp was pretty good –black bean burger was ok THEBAD… –pizza was sub par… bottom of crust didn’t taste like it was cooked that well –it took several minutes before being greeted at the table, perhaps close to 5 min –waitresses took drink order(water, pretty simple), took a very long time to return(she did apologize) –server didn’t offer to remove appetizer dish from table once finished –didn’t offer new plate for pizza –waitress wasn’t attentive to drink refills… thankfully a food runner took care of it Overall, between the below average service and sub par pizza it’s doubtful I’d return…

I was really excited to try this restaurant but was fairly underwhelmed. My husband and I came for lunch on a Saturday. The host sort of ignored us, was talking to someone else, and we were finally seated when another woman come up and took us to a table. Maybe he wasn’t in charge of seating but he could have at least acknowledged us and said someone would seat us in a minute. They were not busy. We got there about 10 minutes after they opened. Only a few other guests in the place. So that was a little off putting. The waitress was nice and efficient. The food though was sort of blah. My husband had a flat bread and I had a pastrami sandwich. The bread for mine was stale and the cole slaw was bland. I didn’t even come close to finishing it. The fries tasted old, like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile but they just opened so I don’t know. I liked the interior and atmosphere. I would be willing to try it again one more time. Maybe it was an off day. But if I have a similar experience, that would be it. There’s plenty of other places to go.

500th review! Sweet Husband Mine and I have been to the original PB in the Strip District in Pittsburgh, and we were knocked out by both the food and the service there, so we were beyond excited to find out that a new location was opening in York. It’s still a haul for us, at a 45 minute drive, but we often come to York just to explore and shop, so it was worth checking out. We had a wait of about 15 minutes for a table, which wasn’t too bad. There’s outside seating with loudspeakers broadcasting whatever sports match is on at the moment, which helps to alleviate possible boredom, and they also participate in some kind of «table notification system» which lets you know just how much longer you have to wait for your seats. I could definitely see this being a help, especially for parents with restless kids. We were seated in the patio area, which had a cover over it, but to be honest, it was kind of a cold afternoon and I would have liked a little more warmth, especially since our baby daughter was with us. We were near a working fire pit, which was kind of pretty(and fascinated my daughter to no end, I must say) — but it did nothing to alleviate the chill. We ordered our old favorites — I had a Colossal Fish, while my husband had his Pittsburgher — but for some reason, they didn’t really taste the same. The slaw wasn’t quite as tangy or crunchy as on the one I had in the Strip District — this was a major attraction for me, so it was a steep disappointment. I don’t know if they use a different recipe here or what, but it just… I don’t know, it didn’t seem like the same thing. I’m not foolish enough to believe that it’s atmosphere… or maybe it is, who knows? The fries didn’t really seem the same, either. It was… mediocre is a nice word, I guess. It was also a little disconcerting to see a lot of Orioles memorabilia on the walls, which really threw me. I mean, it’s the area, it’s to be expected, but… Server was really sweet and made a lot of helpful suggestions. I think that if we’d said something about the table, she probably might have tried to assist us, but it was busy when we came and I didn’t feel comfortable asking. Not dinging them for it, though. There is a changing table available for parents with young children, which is a big plus. We’ll return for some of their other items, but I think we’ll wait to go back to the Strip District for the sandwiches. Really disappointed.

Stopped here on the way home Sunday night. We got there around 6 and it was crowded. I did notice quite a few empty tables but we were still told there was a 45 minute wait. Having worked in the restaurant business for some time I knew that they were short on servers and had to stop seating some tables so the ones that did show up for work wouldn’t be overloaded. My wife and I opted to sit at the bar to avoid the wait. Service there was great. We were able to order fairly quickly. I got the kielbasa sandwich and my wife order ed the steak and cheese. I had heard about their onion rings, so we got those as well. As we sat there enjoying the football games on the big screens one of the other bartenders told us about their Wing special –48 cents each — and the pizza special($ 1.50 a slice). If we hadn’t stopped in just to have one of their sandwiches, I would have gotten the pizza. For $ 1.50, it looked like a good deal. The sandwiches lived up to the hype. The onion rings are definitely worth getting, just plan on sharing them with three people as they are really big. We both decided if we lived closer, we would come here on a Sunday to watch football and just hang out.

I have to start by saying ive been pretty firmly anti Primanti Bros since I first saw them on one of those traveling food shows(Triple D, Food Paradise… can’t remember which). Any restaurant that is going to demand that I eat what I pay for the way they want me to eat it is pretty much scratched off the list of places i want to go. Especially a bar/pub type restaurant. HOWEVER, i can own that I was wrong not to give them a fair chance. At the same time, this isn’t the original PB location, so perhaps they’re a little more forgiving when offering subsitutions. So i’m traveling for work, and the front desk attendant recommends that I give PB a try. It’s an easy walk, and early enough on a Monday night that I figure I’d take my chances. The staff was super welcoming, the place was clean and not crazy noisy(I can imagine it could get that way at game time, but that’s why you come to a place like this!). My server was super helpful. He talked me through the menu, made some suggestions, listened to my concerns(HATE tomatoes, and not a big fan of slaw). He convinced me the slaw was worth a try, but offered to bring it on the side. About two bites into my tomato-less pastrami sandwich, i was adding the slaw! For less that $ 20, i got a sandwich with double meat, appetizer, and fountain drink. Couldn’t finish all of my appetizer and since it wouldn’t travel well I ended up leaving it behind. But I did walk out with half of my sandwich. And yeah, I brough the rest of «slaw on the side» with me, too!

I had the roast beef sandwich. It was mainly made up of french fries and coleslaw. The fries are way over cooked and dried out so they weren’t worth eating. The coleslaw is not the best and the little meat you get on your sandwich is disappointing. I would get double meat if I were to come back here, which probably won’t happen. I remember the one in pittsburgh being awesome food! A lil disappointing at this one. On another note they had half price happy hour and the atmosphere is pretty great!

I tried this place again, this time no sandwich. They have the best onion rings around. Big and crispy. Loved them! The spicy garlic wings are a must. I loved every bite of my wing order. The steak and fries salad was a great entrée and I will definitely be back for these items! Great service and a nice atmosphere. Thanks for reading my review. This review was based off of my personal experience and opinion.

Okay, first impressions was sports bar but I didn’t come here for the atmosphere I came for the sandwich I heard so much about. Being only open a few months and also being Father’s Day I expected a crowd but a hour wait seemed a little long so we opted to pull a bench up at the bar for the immediate seat. Real nice and clean Stainless Steel and comfortable wooden high back chairs that line the counter. If you don’t know the history of Primanti Bros. you should check it out it’s the story that made me put on the bucket list and Adam Richman’s Man vs Food show. Had the Pastrami and did it the original style like they do it in Pittsburgh.(York let’s you take off the fries or slaw). Like I said I came for the Sandwhich. It is a meal the pastrami was really tender and the fries slaw and tomato slices just add the perfect compliment to the meal on Italian bread. It is one huge looking in sandwich and it does take a wee bit of compression do you can get it into your mouth. The wife had the Genoa Salami and yes she ate it all she said it was too delicious not too. So if your looking for an interesting sandwich that is a meal you have to try Primanti Bros. and now you don’t even have to make a trip to Pittsburgh!
