Pizza in York, Pa isn’t anything great to rave about but Shakey Jakes is consistent. Week in and week out you get descent pizza. Sometimes the wait is long but all in all the staff is friendly, works hard, and tries it’s best to make everyone happy.

We were headed out of state and wanted to grab something quick to eat on the road. While I ran into Staples to have some printing done, the hubster stepped into what we thought was a new restaurant. Ha! They’ve been in business for 19 years ~ that says something for their food and service!
We shared the hot turkey and cheese boat, one slice of pizza and deep fried mushrooms. Not too bad! We thought the sub was better than the pizza. They make their own bread, pizza sauce and pizza dough. TV and free wifi to boot!

If you think they make the best cheesesteak in York then you don’t know what the hell your talking about. Service is slow and unfriendly. The booths are uncomfortable. One TV in the place and it is always on something that sucks. The pizza is average. The subs are below average. Bread is very odd with low grade vegetable toppings and way too much lettuce. I only go there because it is close and it is the only pizza/sub shop around my office. York county as a whole doesn’t have many good pizza/sub shops. This place could be better if they would try a little harder.

Cheesesteaks are average at best. Tried it because of the other two reviewers and was disappointed. The meat, while tasty, was in short supply. Pizza dough rolls were small. Worst of all, no cheeze-wiz!!!

I checked out the review before me and said, «I love cheesesteak.» Went and grabbed one… the result… beautiful! Totally worth it. Very «to go» ready, lots of onions, it’s not a sub roll it’s like a boli style roll. totally awesome. Now I know how they stay in business. Check it out, and rate them I want to know how the rest of their food is!

Best. Cheese steak. In York. Haha I love their cheese steaks. I will go here specifically for them. I haven’t tried the other food here, but I definitely recommend trying!
