Been one of our favorites for years. Went there on 05⁄17 to celebrate our anniversary. Great food, impeccable service from both the wait staff and management, and comfortable surroundings. Nice drive through some wooded areas and pleasant river view. Well worth the drive from surrounding cities.

We came here for a special Mother’s Day dinner. It was an excellent experience, the waitress was very friendly and always there when we need something. The food is definitely pricey but everything we got is delicious. We had steak, duck breast, and salmon. They weren’t the best steak I’ve ever had but everything on the plate was well cooked and flavored. And of course we got some desserts to try, we destroyed it in less than five mins. Haha overall, I would recommend this place if it is a special occasion and you want to take your significant others for a fancy treat.

Always a pleasure. Refined and original taste sensations. Lovely old building. The salmon was perfectly done. Very nice wine selection!

I have only eaten here twice and both visits were exceptional. I have been to several other colonial restaurants on the East Coast and this is the best one I have experienced. The building is an exquisite example of stone masonry and the ghost legend of «Johnny» adds to the mystique, especially when we brought the kids. The food was savory and wonderfully plated. The best aspect of the Accomac is the amazing service. The wait staff was professional and warm. Jeremy, the General Manager is friendly and engages with restaurant guests just as if he was the Inn Keeper of days past. He gave the children a first-rate tour of the entire restaurant and building. We were pleased to learn about the numerous theme dinners they also host throughout the year, which we will definitely attend(e.g., 18th Century Germanic cuisine, Redcoats v. Colonists dinners, and etc…). This establishment will easily become a family favorite to celebrate special occasions or just enjoy a gorgeous day looking over the Susquehanna River. When visiting York, dinning at this historical landmark will transport you to the earliest days of our country.

My wife and I reserved a table on 2÷15÷16 for our Valentine’s dinner.(This was the Monday after, as we have busy work schedules). It was a snowy night and were surprised they remained open… We haven’t been here in nearly a decade and not much has changed… Great atmosphere, great historical setting, great food and exceptional service. Our waitress Allison was very attentive and a pleasure to chat with! Our only disappointment? The dress code… Years ago, a coat and tie was required, now…, not so much… But, you know what, who cares, my wife and I like to get dressed up, so we did, and we had a great time. Even though we missed V Day, they still made our experience special, as they comped us a shrimp cocktail, and treated us like royalty! Thank you Accomac staff for a great night! We will return soon…

Valentines meal-three hours, $ 196 and we leave to find a drive thru. Love be the ambiance. Beautiful location and building. This was the restaurant I chose specially for Valentine’s Day due to fond memories and delicious food years ago. The waitstaff is above par and friendly… other than various tattoos and piercings shown on staff not covered by uniform. This usually is not a concern of mine. However, at this caliber of restaurant, I expect a better display of staff. We were seated in the upstairs room with a beautiful view. Note– the restaurant must save on seat cushions, as when I sat down I almost went through the chair frame onto the floor. The chair has merely lining or possibly the original cushion from 1742, which has thinned since Samuel Adams was there. The utensils and serving dishes were also interesting to point out. At this price point, it should be expected to be higher standard– possibly silver plated? These utensils were light weight restraint grade«Made in China» …I checked because I was surprised. Note again– we paid $ 196 total for our final bill. On to the food. Or…to be perfectly honest… the colors that dusted plate on an otherwise empty dish. Salad– two sprigs of Spring lettuce, two half of small tomato melon and smear of red pepper sauce; maybe a tablespoon of soup; half cup of cooked risotto; two strips of duck with two slices of round potatoe; and the chef gifted our table cheese ravioli. You guessed it — only two. Finally…the dessert: chocolate«fave,»…or as my husband asked me after tasting it …“is that French for Hershey’s brownie from a box?“ Now, I don’t eat much at meals… usually leave with a to go box or two but at this meal– I ate my salad, my husband’s salad, both tablespoons of soups, both cheese raviolis, my main course, and chocolate«fave.» my husband enjoyed 4 shrimp cocktail on a plate without ice and 1 sad silver dollar sized, filler filled crab cake… And we stopped for sandwiches on the way home(see photo). Let me say there was nothing wrong with the quality of food. It’s the portion sizes. For the price– we expected more. The only aspect of the meal that was not over priced and under served: the cocktail. Which was amazing. It was $ 12 and heavily poured. This may also be the reason I stay so calm and didn’t say anything while I was there. Well played. Loved the Accomac for many, many years but we won’t be running back unless management makes changes. This is not the restaurant we remember. Would love to hear from management as it is truly sad to have to cross this one off our list. *** update: the owner has reached out and offered for us to come back. We thank her for this offer and look forward to updating this review to the standard we have known capable of The Accomac, as our family has dined here for over thirty years. Thank you again.

Awesome setting; it’s a colonial tavern that pre-dates the American Revolution. Food was really good, drinks were also top notch. I really only had two complaints. First, the table we were seated at was super close to another dining couple, like maybe 6 – 8 inches of separation between the tables. Made it a bit awkward and tough to fully relax. Second, we went to the bar before our table was ready and the bartender was very inattentive. Took us almost 15 min just to get a drink. Overall, a good experience but could use a few improvements.

I’ve lived in the York area over 13 years and never been to the Accomac. I just wish we would have gone sooner! Atmosphere is wonderful– outstanding view, very clean and all the staff are very personable. We showed up 30 minutes earlier than our reservations. We had a drink in the Pub and they were able to seat us early. I had the steak Dianne done table side and my wife had a strip steak. Both were excellent. My wife had a drink called a York Yak– a drink made with ginger beer and some other ingredients served in a copper cup. She said it was very tasty. Our service from our tall waiter named Bryt was awesome. He also made our dessert– Banana’s Foster table side. I highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner. We will definitely be going back.

Just had the most pleasant lunch at The Accomac for the first time. Had a beautiful sweet corn and zucchini soup, rich and herbal. Also a great chopped Thai salad with edamame, kale, a lemongrass dressing and I believe I found some sea beans in there?! Yum! Such a beautiful view and great service. I’d love to come back and try dinner. Their use of seasonal ingredients and interesting pairings is right up my ally. Too bad I don’t live closer!

Based on our meal last night and for my money, I’m still not impressed with this fine food restaurant at which we have had some spectacular meals over the years — just not recently. Just ten minutes early for a 6:45 reservation, had to wait at the bar nevertheless, even though several tables appeared to be available. When we were seated about 6:50, our setups were missing a knife, spoons and one water glass. Weird. We found the menu uninspiring. Über-friendly and chatty manager Jeremy provided most of our table service, not sure our server was thrilled. Best parts of our meals, unfortunately, were our appetizers. Tempura soft-shell crab with a decent mango salsa, and grilled figs with falafel, onions and cherry tomatoes. Delicious, but downhill from there. B ordered a scallops special, and I the pork duo of tenderloin and belly. About 5 minutes after ordering, we were informed that the last order of scallops had already been served(although we heard other servers offering it to later diners). B ordered what was essentially«the vegetarian entrée,» and that’s what it was. She rated it good, not great. My tenderloin was nicely done, but I’ve had better belly, just nothing special. Wine selection was fine. None of the desserts spoke to B, but she ordered a special of fresh berries with ice cream and cherry«soup.» Just okay. My strawberries and rhubarb was yummy, but the strawberries were tiny and not stemmed, making them more pretty than easily eaten. The complementary peanut butter truffles(for our anniversary) were a nice touch. Every time we go to The Accomac we expect more, and we’ve been disappointed. The restaurant seems to have lost its way. There was very little game on the menu, which is where I thought they had staked their reputation years ago. The service was less than great for a restaurant of this caliber. Jeremy maybe needs to allow his staff to do their jobs, but when I sit down at an incompletely set table for which I had to wait, I wonder what’s going on? Jeremy(did I mention he was chatty?) said they were trying to «update» the menu, but it seems stuck in mid-stream, with numerous traditional preparations and little in the way of really exciting, creative dishes. It may be another 5 years before we return.

My friends and ended up here as three weary travelers. I am not exaggerating when I tell you we looked like«something that cat drug in» and with the heat of the day along with some of our outdoor activities, I believe that we possibly smelled like it, too.(Just trying to paint the picture for ya!) We also, mind you, did not have reservations. To say that they welcomed us in with open arms and treated us like royalty would be a gross understatement. They really rolled out the red carpet. They showed us into the bar for cocktails while they prepared a beautiful table for three with a view. The staff here was one of the friendliest groups of waitstaff that I have ever encountered. I don’t mean to be over dramatic, but I was just so darn impressed by them. They could have easily turned us away for not having a reservation, or treated us poorly for being incredibly under dressed for the venue, but instead they went above and beyond to make our experience a good one. Every single thing that we ordered was delightful. I had the crispy beef. I have never had anything like it before in my life, and it was an amazing dish. My only regret was not having enough room in my belly for bananas foster. I did quite enjoy watching it made for other tables, though!

Had dinner here for the first time last night– I’d give it 3.5 stars, but rounded up here to give the benefit of the doubt. So, first the place itself… the environment and view were amazing, the building and restaurant were beautiful, comfortable and felt clean. Very easy place to be. The manager and bus boy were attentive, kind and did a great job. Our waiter though, wow. He felt like a frat boy with his first job(begrudgingly). He described the soup as a «chick pea and fennel soup with a bit of chick peas in there and some fennel oil on top» hehe. But, he was just nowhere to be found most of the time and it wasn’t even busy while we were there. So, that was pretty annoying. The other tables seemed to be getting pretty good service though, so, credit where it’s due. The food, most importantly, was creative, delicate and delicious. The chef clearly cares about every detail and puts a lot of thought into everything which is always my favorite element of any meal. That said, the portions were small(by American standards) and it took a really long time from course to course. In fact, we were there one hour and had only received a salad… 17 mins after the salad, we got the main dish. Again, for an uncrowded restaurant, that’s rather annoying, but the water view helped manage that frustration. The other element we liked was their drink menu. The cocktails were creative, nicely balanced(a bit strong, if anything) and original combinations that were references to regional culture or local areas. We didn’t look at the wine or beer list, so no comment on those. Overall, a good meal. The service left a lot to be desired from our waiter, who felt like he might’ve been a bit hungover or late to his shift(«I haven’t eaten the special so I can’t tell you what it’s like, but it’s made of pork cheeks and the chef has been talking about it a lot») or something. Nice enough guy, but it did knock the experience down a bit for us. This place is definitely worth a try on a special occasion, but for us, I think we are most likely to go back to our other special occasion restaurant in the area instead.

We went here on a Friday night during their candle lit dinner and it was amazing! The whole restaurant was lit up by candles. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We tried their 7 course tasting menu which included 3 glasses of wine and dessert. I was not overly crazy about the dessert but overall it was a very nice meal. I would have given the Accomac a 5 star rating, however I felt there could have been a few more vegetables or a salad incorporated into the tasting menu. There were some items on the menu that were considered á la carte and brought out on a cart and heated up right in front of the patrons. I thought this was neat and I look forward to trying that next time! The restaurant faces the river and would be a neat place to dine outside during the warmer months. I would definitely recommend the Accomac to anyone looking to have a romantic dinner in a nice, quiet atmosphere. Overall, it was a really nice experience.

**Im-pressed** with The Accomac’s A-Game 2÷13÷15. We will not get into how dinning on Friday, rather than Saturday, was fortuitous. But… it was hehehehe

Loved this place. We had a group of 6 that was easily accommodated. The staff was wonderful and so friendly. We all ordered our food and when it arrived I didn’t care for mine. It looked amazing, smelled great, I just didn’t care for the flavor. My friend had a taste a thought it was amazing. Our waitress came right over and I was able to return it in for something else. I’m not sure but I think they put a rush on it because I had my meal in about 5 minutes. I was incredibly happy with my second choice. We lost track of time and actually stayed well past closing, the staff never rushed us or even said a word about us being there so late. I loved everything about this place and I cannot wait to return. Thank you Accomac for being so accommodating and for such a wonderful afternoon. :-)

My aunt had her wedding at the Accomac so we had the pleasure of dining here. Not unexpectedly, the food was likely subpar due to it being a wedding(albeit only a 40 person wedding) so my review is based solely on this experience. The location is nice, right on the water and would be a wonderful place to take photos. Here was our wedding menu: Antipasti plate– good selection and tasty Grilled peach salad– the best dish of the meal, would definitely recommend this Stuffed chicken– incredibly dry and completely lacking in flavor. Terrible dish all around Beef– much better but nothing special The couple ordered a cake from outside so I can’t speak for their desserts. The service was well done, however the room is slightly awkward because it has these columns which can block views(as far as the wedding aspect of course). Overall, it was a nice event and the Accomac did a good job. However, I have to note that it certainly was not cheap so expect to pay for the location if you would like to have your wedding here.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for many years, and it did not disappoint. The location is just gorgeous. The service is top notch, and the menu options are varied and modern. I really enjoyed the smoked ricotta gnocchi(aside from the okra, but that’s a personal taste thing) and the beet salad. My three dining mates all ordered the from daily special menu, which had many options. All were overall pleased with their meals, though my husband did mention that his veal meatloaf was a bit overly salty. The soup of the day, a sweet potato purée, was particularly loved by two people at my table. The soup’s presentation was really neat, which was surprising, considering it’s, well, just soup. My husband and I will definitely be making the effort to get here more often, despite the distance from us. Honestly, I can’t wait to return just to try some of the great looking options on their cocktail menu when I’m not pregnant. ;)(Their bar area looked quite inviting.)

If you are near the Lancaster area, you must try this restaurant on the Susquehanna River. We were staying in Marietta and the Accomac Inn is only 15 minutes from there. The turns are a bit twisty getting here and I recommend using GPS. We were there for dinner but I would love to come back for brunch so I can enjoy the view. We had a table next to the fireplace and the radiator, so we were plenty warm during dinner. The service was exceptional and the food was everything and more that I had heard from our b&b host. The chef does indeed cook the vegetables to perfection and the sauces are wonderful. We started with the mussels and the lobster bisque. I enjoyed the lobster bisque more and thought it was creative to include shrimp in the dish. The Skuna Bay salmon from British Columbia was cooked right and the mushroom sauce was divine. My husband was in love with his hanger steak and I couldn’t stop stealing his pumpkin risotto. They also make some good cocktails, particularly the Manhattan. We saw another table have the bananas foster dessert prepared at the table and we couldn’t resist doing the same. Trust me, you won’t regret it. I also was a fan of all the liquors in the sauce :). This is a classy place for a special occasion, or just to enjoy a fancy meal. PS I also like the history of the inn. The original inn was from the 1700s but burned down in the 1930s and was rebuilt. They did a good job with making the rebuilt inn look historical and the stonework is beautiful.

Despite a few shortcomings, this place is an utter delight. Tucked away under a fairy tale forest next to the Susquehanna river is the Accomac Inn. The building itself is quite charming; Very old fashioned with it’s stone work architecture and screened in porch. The porch has a beautiful view overlooking the river and the candles and outdoor lighting make the experience quaint and romantic. As a vegetarian, this place is phenomenal for brunch. They have everything ranging from crepes and french toast to omelets and quiche. Today as a special, they had some squash and roasted watermelon salad with mixed greens and a brisk vinaigrette. I can personally attest to the wonderfullyness of the french toast, the veggie omelet and the evoo potatoes with capers. Every time I’ve visited, our meal has also been prefaced with sweet cakes or rolls with apple or berry butter spreads. We’ve also been treated with complimentary samples of fun, refreshing and utterly vegetarian gazpacho on each visit. I love the fact they have fun with flavor and invent tastiness in ways I never knew were tasty. If that weren’t enough, their coffee is FLAWLESS and served with real cream. For the veggie looking for a somewhat fine dining experience, this place is heaven. That said, come expecting to spend some time here. Personally, I could spend the better part of the morning sipping coffee on the veranda sharing the company of my beau. However, this is not the place to go if you’re in need of quick eats. Our brunch took a good hour to arrive, though they brought us plenty of other little delights in the meantime. The one major thing that would lower this place from a 5 star to 4, is something another Unilocaler already stated: Their desert sizes are lacking. Incredibly delicious and innovative,(I mean where else are you going to find Earl Grey ice cream in York!!!) but you might need a magnifying glass to find them on your plate.
