Solid and fairly priced Italian food in a culinary wasteland that is Yorktown. Creative pastas and yummy apps. The seafood pasta is awesome

Came here after sons graduation We had panning sandwich Rigatoni Alfredo and it wasn’t too bad Nothing to write home about We sat outside on a hot day and service was too great especially knowing we were outside like keep our water coming and make sure we are not sitting around waiting to be served Bread basket was the highlight It was pretty empty and I hope to have the urge to go back and try their dinner because it was recommended by a friend in the area But based on my experience it gets three stars

I recently ate here and it was a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend the pizza with mushroom, asparagus, fontina cheese, and truffle oil for an appetizer. It was extraordinarily good. I then had the squid ink pasta with seafood, which was also very delicious. The rest of my family also loved their food. The service was very good and the server was very attentive.

I’ve been here twice now. I really can appreciate this place for what they’re doing here. Yorktown needs more establishments like this. With house wine being $ 9 per glass, I expect a certain level of food quality to stand up to those prices. This was my second time here. The service was friendly and the atmosphere really nice. It’s a shame the food was cold and overcooked and the bill a bit too expensive. Still, I think I will be back a third time based on the convenience. There is no real need for a reservation with abundant seating.

Came back a second time to give it a shot because there are so few places to get a reasonable meal in Yorktown. Here’s the deal, I don’t even have the patience to write something funny or clever. My wife’s chicken dish was blah and the chicken dry. My pasta the Garganelli ai Funghi was tasty enough sort of oily but the pasta was so over cooked it was splitting and falling apart off the fork. The pasta was the consistency of Chef Boy Ardee. That’s it they are off the list! With the large Italian population in Yorktown you’d think someone would get it right at a reasonable price. If you don’t go high end in this area which means Rraci’s or Croton Creek then you’re better off in a Pizza shop/restaurant.

We dined here on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was not at all crowded for a Saturday evening. My husband and I had heard Don Tommaso’s was good, not great, so we decided to try it. We were quite disappointed with the food and the service. Our waiter, Errol was very inexperienced and his mind seemed elsewhere. We had to ask twice for water refills. We had to ask for bread and when we finally got it, we were given a teeny amount of oil and no butter nor grated cheese. My husband ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was not fresh and clearly previously frozen. I ordered the linguine with calamari and scungilli. I counted 4 pieces of calamari and 3 pieces of scungilli. I had asked for marinara sauce, but the dish was«fra diavalo»!! I just tried to make the best of it. Our waiter was rushing us and tried to take my plate when I was not finished with it! Did I mention the place was not at all croweded?! Needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant. Overall the food was alright, but the service was disgraceful!

Went last night for apps and drinks in the bar. We were a fairly large crowd, about 10 of us celebrating a birthday. We ordered a variety of apps and pizzas. First the drinks. A few of the guys ordered beers. At least one of them was served something skunky. I was at the other end of the room so I don’t know if it was a bad keg(does that happen?) or there was something going on in the lines, but pretty soon new beers were poured and it looked like everyone was happy. I looked at the wine list to help my wife pick something. The list is entirely Italian. I’m not a fan of single country wine lists and some of the selections looked like they were overpriced. Anyway for $ 10 a glass, her wine was just OK. The food started to arrive. I liked the regular pizza but I wasn’t a fan of the pie with Gorgonzola. The artichoke and/or spinach dip with the grilled bread is to die for. The rest was OK but not Earth shattering. All in all, I’d go back to the bar for this kind of fare, but keep a close watch on the beer.

Came here for dinner the other night. The hostess was very friendly, waiter was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Then our food came out. Calamari appetizer was very overcooked — many pieces were brittle and broke apart. We gave the restaurant a pass and waited for dinner. I ordered the chicken piccata; the chicken itself was good but we were not impressed by the instant mashed potatoes disguised to taste like the real deal with added cream and butter. Robert Irvine would not have been impressed. Chicken was good and my husband’s chicken scarp was good but very different from what we’re used to — they skimped on the sausage big time and it was cooked in a very light sauce. What really got us was half-way through our dinner, the waitresses and hostess congregated next to our table; one waitress started complaining about her«long hours» and«full shifts» next week. We were like, ‘seriously?!’ The dining room had 5 tables of people eating and these morons were having what should have been a private conversation in full earshot of all the patrons. Very tacky and unprofessional. This continued for several minutes — they were laughing, giggling and being obnoxious. When our waiter returned to offer us dessert, there was no way were going to pay to hang around and listen to the girls’ banter. We politely asked for the check and left. Probably will not return here — decent food and good location but their staff really needs to step it up– we’ll gladly take our business to a restaurant where we can truly relax and enjoy our meals without high school chitter chatter.

My husband and I tried this place for the first time last night and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waiter was very friendly and gave us his personal recommendations. My husband ordered the risotto which was very good but perhaps needed a touch more salt. I ordered the calamari which was also good but slightly overdone. Our entrees were excellent. We ordered chicken in a cream sauce and the fish stew. The fish stew was just like mammas on Xmas eve. Dessert was just as wonderful. Can’t wait to go back!

Don Tommasos’s is probably one of the best if not the best restaurant in Yorktown. The restaurant is a small place with simple, comfortable décor. Our server Dani was professional and knowledgeable, explaining the details of the menu. She and the rest of the staff were great. The menu offers a nice variety of Italian dishes at reasonable prices with medium/large serving portions. Overall a great meal and I would definitely return to try some of their other menu items.

The location of this restaurant is a little off the beaten track but you should make the trip. The food is great! Fresh food, very tasty. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. Bonus, the beer list is nice with a sampling of everywhere. Hey, they even have banana bread beer from the UK.

Food was very good and the service was attentive. My Fettuccine Scuie-Scuie was excellent with a large portion. Pasta was al dente and the sea food was fresh. The apple desert was just average though. I would definitely recommend this place

This is one of the few restaurants I know I can go to, and whatever I order will enjoy. I really like their house wine and even though it isn’t on the menu, if you ask for eggplant parm they will make it for you and it is SO good! their penne alla vodka is super yummy as well, and I like their ‘check in’ deal of a free glass of wine!

My new favorite restaurant! I can’t rave enough about how good the food is, and how friendly and attentive the wait staff is. The Gameroni Al Gorgonzola(shrimp in a brandy gorgonzola cream sauce) is delicious. I ask people to turn their backs while I lick the plate! We’ve tried the stuff clams, mozzarella e prosciutto, and rice balls, and all are A++. Every entrée we’ve ordered is fantastic… chicken scarpariello, steak pizzaiola, mixed grill, all 5 star!

My family and I came here for dinner on Saturday and it was delicious! Our sever was great, very knowledgable and friendly. The menu is substantial and if you check in on Unilocal you get a free glass of wine! We all had different salads as well as the arrancini. They give you three huge arrancinis on a nice plate with fresh basil and a chunky tomato sauce. Only one ended up being eaten with the other two wrapped to go. They had some delicious sounding specials and my Husband ordered the steak special that had crab and lobster on top. I had the squid ink pasta, my Dad the lasagna and my mom the whole wheat penne with pesto and shrimp(it was a bit oily). Everything was delicious, the pasta al dente and the seafood was all fresh and not rubbery. Dessert was also delicious and the owner makes her own biscotti. Make sure to make reservations as the place was packed on Saturday.

My husband and I have been going there for about a year now. We love eating outside in the courtyard, it reminds us of Rome, without the noisy cars honking by. The food is always a pleasure, but we find the service to be lacking a bit. The servers obviously care, but service seems to be slow. When we eat here, we expect to be sitting for a while, at least 2 hours. It is a must try!

Will never step foot in this place, will never recommend this place to peers. I have no idea how the food actually taste on account of after being in the place for about 5 minutes I left. I walked in with my mother and we walked past a couple people at the bar that stopped their conversation just to analyze us, Including an employee who makes no movements. no biggie. We go to the host podium and are standing there for about 5 minutes no one comes to help us or anything. The restaurant was empty and no customers were in there. It was a terrible greeting and I won’t be back. It’s weird in this day and age people can still attempt to belittle you. After the stares and lack of even being seated I won’t even look in this place’s direction. Small tiny place, it has some nice décor as well. That’s about it. Learn to have your employees at their post at the time customers come in and let them feel welcomed.

As promised, an update on the wine group dinner party. There were eight of us and the restaurant was fairly crowded for Wednesday, but not packed. I waited at the host’s stand for several minutes and was not greeted. I finally wandered into the room off to the side that was setup for a party of 12, assuming this was for us(even though the party was for 8). There were abundant plates of cheese and salume setup for us. Unfortunately more than an hour passed before we were able to get our salads. I was also surprised that the owner did not stop in during the course of the evening. Overall service ran from slow to non-existent. The food was good overall, with a terrific pasta and dessert. The osso bucco, a special for this event, was a bit dry and disappointed. I would still recommend for a leisurely lunch or a long dinner where the focus is on the food and not the service. The front end of the house needs some work.
