I figured I’d give this place more than one opportunity and after going back today it’s just not good Mexican food. Today I odered some tacos, 2 steak and 2 al pastor. They were both bland, they actually tasted the same. The«pastor» was just a pork taco no pastor seasoning or pineapple flavor. The shells were rubbery and I honestly could not tell if they were corn or flour. They did not include any lime wedges either which to me is a must. It was expensive too, 8.50 for 4 tacos? Go to Burrito Fiesta or Taco Madre instead. Im giving 2 stars because they are always very nice and friendly each time I’ve been there.

This place is a joke. The food was absolutely terrible. We ordered through grub hub and it took an hour and 20 minutes to get here. By the time it did my mom’s nachos were soggy and disgusting. The rice isn’t cooked all the way and had no flavor. I can’t believe we spent $ 50+ on this meal. I would recommend salsa verde or la cabana de Oswego over this place anytime. Save your money and get something edible. Never ever ever ever again. Not to mention when I called in, he told me «yeah we had two huge orders before yours.» Okay. Time management. Coming from someone who wants to own a restaurant, this is not the way to do it at all. Absolutely disappointed and will not be returning.

One word! Gross!!! It was the worst food ever. I only took one bite both my husband & just paid the bill and left our full plates on the table. However I did get a cup of corn to go and it was Very Good.

Ordered food from their online menu, but we were called after the order was submitted to let us know that two of the items we ordered were not available and that one of them had to be ordered a day in advance. Once we got our food our disappointment continued. The nachos… just corn chips with cheese sauce, burrito grande… not grande and no beans. barely filled, tacos… my tacos blows them away, chicken enchiladas… had zero pieces of chicken, hardly any cheese, dry, crumbly tortillas, no sauce and very small spoonfuls of salsa dribbled on top. We will NEVER be ordering from here again. Most of the food went right in to the garbage and $ 40 went down the drain.

Tried El Xacalli using a certificate. That night, we were the only customers due to it being early evening. Tried the enchilada patter, posole & Bionico for dessert along with a mixed juice drink. Were unable to eat half of our order and took it home(yum). Love the fresh ingredients and authentic(yes, there are many regional and even family recipes of Mexican cuisine). Owner/manager very polite and focused on providing a pleasant dining experience. Is it the cheapest«Mexican» food around, no, is the restaurant’s décor on par with Michelin star standards, no. It is a great place to eat healthy, fresh food at a fair price. We will be back!

Delicious food, good portions and great prices. The kid loved his super cheesy quesadilla. Husband had a chicken burrito, which was full of flavor and quality ingredients. I had steak enchiladas with half rojo and half verde sauces. The verde is definitely my preference(as usual for me). This family-run restaurant also showcases the owner’s carpentry skills in the table and chair sets. Very cool — and I believe he takes orders. Delivery and carry out available — check it out, it is worth it.

Wonderful family ran restaurant. Excellent food and great service. The chips and salsa are to die for. My wife loved the fresh juice. Very nice and cozy décor. If you’re passing through Yorkville and like Mexican Food stop in — you won’t be disappointed.

Salsa was good. The fresh juice is the best part about this place. This isnt authentic Mexican cuisine, not really sure what to call it. Ordered the milanesa steak tortas, there was close to no meat… it was a spinach, lettuce, mustard? With mayo torta… and a sprinkle of some type of meat. The employees were nice but not even water was offered as soon as we walked in. Very disappointing.

Have eaten here many times with my family. They love the tamales and often get several to go for later. The food is always prepared fresh and the prices are very reasonable. The owner made a point of making sure everything was perfect and seems to care about our needs.
