In downtown Youngstown on business. Coffee was much more bitter than fresh roasted coffee should taste. Barista claimed to have no idea where it came from!

2 stars knocked off for
1. ambience or lack there of. Old and outdated booths and flooring. Cool music though. Ambience really matters in a café…
2. WAY too much foam on my latte. Maybe try a different shaped mug or a 10oz cup.
That being said, coffee tastes good and I’m glad they could at least do latte art! First time I’ve seen that in the area. Also great location and big windows for people watching at Federal Plaza.

Stopped in out of curiosity and was delighted! Excellent coffee… So good i bought 2 bags to go. I like bold flavor and perk at home in a turkish pot. The beans were VERY fresh and i look forward to another excuse to find my way down town to visit joe max again soon.

The coffee is okay, but the chai tea is downright awful. They seem to put corn syrup flavoring in it or something. It’s basically a corn syrup sludge. General coffee drinks are pretty decent though.

Stellar food and even better coffee. Baristas are significantly more knowledgeable than most (especially at chains like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts). Food is always fresh and I’ve never had an even remotely bad cup of coffee or service experience.

the best coffee in town with smiling creative people behind the counter. the wraps and soup are just as savory as the atmosphere. if Jesus was in da yo he would surely grab a cup from Joe Max.

I love love love this place.
Joe Maxx is a cute little coffee shop across from the Central YMCA (perfect for after swim coffee!)!
The employees are super nice… and very proud of their drinks/food.
I had the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. On the coffee side, I also had a kolache latte. The latte was delicious. It had an amazing blend of flavors with a perfect balance of sweetness. The homemade whipped cream was also amazing.
I really can’t complain about anything. Hard to believe this place is in Youngstown. I will be back for sure!

Amazingly great coffee! Rich and flavorful but not bitter. Had a conversation with Mike the owner and he’s got a great concept. They’ve got free WiFi for customers and did I mention their great coffee? Lots of unique specialty espresso drinks too. So glad to see there’s a quality coffee shop in downtown Youngstown.
