I had my son’s 11th birthday party here and the kids had soooo much fun! The fields(maps) are varied and contain different challenges. I love that this is not a place where they make you buy their food — so we could bring our own sandwiches, drinks and dessert. Our volunteer Ref, Dylan, was a good guy who helped us all through the day to stay safe. Fantastic time!

Got in today before close and got in three tournaments; Woods, Rocket and Hydro(?). my son and I are definite newbies, and Gotcha has a $ 10 Newbie weekend during the first weekend of the month. We had a great time. A few things you should do if you go: –wear long, loose clothing and a bandanna for your hair –bring bug spray, plenty of bug spray –If you can, bring your own full face mask(Gotcha’s is scratched, wet and foggy) –Bring a container of hand wipes –plan on stashing your valuables in your car –go straight to the field address, and TAKECASH(cost for two with a bag of balls: $ 40) –Gotchas guns are very good and come with the Newbie rate(first weekend only)

If you’re new to paintball and just looking for somewhere to try it out and play with friends then you’ll probably have a good time. There are only four fields and the three you’ll play on the most are fairly small. Booking a private group is only $ 50 with a minimum of 10 people and is HIGHLY recommended(you get your own ref and will only play against each other this way). If you don’t book a private group there’s a good chance you’re going to be playing with 15 – 20 person teams. This is way too many people for the size of these fields and it ends up being extremely random and not very much fun. The one open/wooded field they have is filled with poison ivy and mosquitoes so wear long sleeves/pants and lather up in some repellent before heading out. The refs are high school age and were all very friendly and helpful. The guy behind the counter is kind of a hard-ass so just make sure you follow the rules if you don’t want to get booted off the field. Be especially careful not to take your mask off in any of the netted areas or you’re going to be benched for the entire day. I saw this happen to two people while I was there and they were stuck sitting around watching their friends play for hours. The only other outdoor field in the area that I’ve tried is Black River Paintball in Angier. The price is slightly higher but they have a much wider variety of fields with actual forts, rusted out automobiles, and other unique obstacles on them. It’s definitely worth the extra drive and price bump if you don’t have enough people for a private group.
