Since my last review, this store has changed management — Not sure when this happened. They no longer have the large selection of beer and wine that I once knew. The wine selection is just the basic dusty-old-corner-liquor-store bottles. Nothing fancy or exciting. Place is a little run down, and dirty(compared to what it use to be like, but nothing really out of the ordinary for a liquor store in Ypsi)… pretty sure I saw a bucket next to a cooler collection water from a leaking ceiling.

More expensive than nearby shops. Rude staff and dirty store. Flat out refused to give me money for the bottles I returned and insisted I use it for store credit.

One of The best liquor stores around. They have a lot of choices and selections that other places don’t have. Really satisfied and happy with this liquor store. For sure going to be my one and only go back to store. 5⁄5

I do not like the new place. They have a new owner here and they don’t have nearly the selection that the old place had. It has better lighting and it has more open space; however, give me a dim lit and well stocked store with oodles of beer choices and I am much happier.

The store looked quite nice. I was very happy to see that they carried Yuengling. However, a 12 pack was priced at 18.99. any other time at any other store, a pack was $ 9.99. I was so astonished by such a rip off I turned around and walked right out.

They have a lot of interesting beers here, a 40ft x 15 ft liquor shelf, and a wine section housed in a cellar-like area. Beyond microbrews, the store has shelves full of odd beers from faraway lands. One can also find drinking accessories here, including garnishes likely bottled in the mid 80s. The ambiance is a bit strange. Granted, few go to a liquor store seeking seductive moods, but the lighting in Huckleberry’s is green and always on the verge of burning out. The carpet smells, there’s never any sound inside the place, and it generally feels like hell. Is this reason to avoid it? No!

I’m mighty grateful for this Unilocal-inspired find. Ypsi is by no means lacking in liquor stores, but most of ‘em are super sketchy. I’d rather not hazard a sudden backroom drug bust when all I want is a decent bottle of wine or six-pack. The Huckleberry is perfectly respectable, offering a wide range of choices at reasonable prices in a clean and mellow space. Recent purchases include a six of Shiner Bock for just above ten bucks, including tax and deposit, and the all-important $ 6 bottle of okay red wine. This is a great place for self-respecting, working class peeps like me who want something better than average without spending a fortune. And a special shout-out to my smoker friends — they have Nat Sherman’s for $ 7.99! Though I haven’t bought a pack in a long time, this strikes me as a great deal for the absolute tastiest domestic cigarettes. They also sell an array of party store style snacks — chips, candy bars and the like(no fancy crackers or chocolates identified by percentages — this isn’t a yuppie store). The staff are polite and happy to help, or just to let you browse for a bit. And unlike those shady, nearby corner stores, this is a place where I actually want to slow down and examine the selection.

Huckleberry has a decent selection of microbrews, and the prices are better than every Ann Arbor liquor store I’ve been to(though still not as cheap as some grocery stores or drug stores.) The dudes at the counter are willing to give recs and feedback, are always really nice, funny, and chatty in a non-obnoxious way. I don’t find myself out this way much anymore, but if I do, I always get my booze here.

There’s something for everyone here. I appreciate all the nifty microbrew beers, especially those from Michigan. But this is the place if I’m in the mood for liquor, the selection is complete as well. It bears mentioning that I’ve been carded a couple times when buying here. Not that it’s a problem, but I usually end up the one holding up the line because I need to run out to my car and get my purse. Sorry about that.

This place has been here for as long as I can remember. From the outside you’d never guess that they carry a great selection of craft beers. Prior to hearing the good word, I figured this place was a place to go for Cheetos and a Faygo, rather than Founder’s and Rogue. My mistake. Counter guy is the sort of gruff nice that I can appreciate. He may not greet you with a smile, but I don’t need anyone to blow sunshine up my bum. Selling me good beer is enough. It’s a bit of a toss up for the best beer selection in Ypsi prize. It’s either here or Eagle’s Nest on Cross(formerly Faris Market). I’d say Huckleberry has far more six packs and possibly more of a Michigan focus, but Eagle’s Nest seems to have more singles and from time to time, the more obscure stuff(Founder’s Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Kuhnhenn’s Raspberry Eisbock, etc).

Huckleberry has an unassuming exterior in a strip mall on busy Washtenaw Avenue, but it has one of the best selections of microbrews and wines of any party store in the area. My husband was pleased to find that they offer more than one kind of mead; Chaucer’s is usually the sole option at other places that sell beer and wine, even at swanky Whole Foods. I like the wide selection of microbrews, with an emphasis on Michigan beers, and the prices are competitive with other local party stores. The guy who works the register almost every time I’m there seems gruff but is actually pretty nice. I assume he’s the owner since he’s there all the time.
