I love all of Ypsilanti Township’s lakeside parks. Loonfeather Point is one of the smaller ones, and it’s not as spectacular as North Bay, but it’s cute and it’s close to my house. I can bicycle there and back in about 25 minutes, so it’s often my park of choice. On a summer morning, you can see the sun rise over Ford Lake from the dock there, or you can take your dog for a walk. There are picnic areas, pavilions available for renting, and a small playground. The township staffs booths and charge fees at most of their parks during late spring and summer, but township residents are able to visit for free with proof of residency. You can also park on a side street and walk or bike in, and nobody will stop you to ask you to pay an entry fee.
