Simply Self Storage – Ypsilanti

During two-​and-​a-​half year stay in the Ann Arbor area, I had two storage spaces. I first rented a space at Maple Village while I was living close to downtown. When I moved out to Ypsilanti, I rented a storage space at National Storage Centers.
I want to begin by saying that this place has basically no crime, despite the rundown area that it’s in. While at my other storage unit, in Ann Arbor, I had several things stolen (a skateboard, part of a stereo, a few other things). If I left my space unlocked for a few minutes, or was moving things in and out of it, there was never anyone really closely monitoring what happened on the grounds. I was pleased when I learned that there has been essentially no crime in the past several years since a change in management happened at National Storage in Ypsilanti.
Paula, the bulding manager, works there 6 days a week, and carefully WATCHES everyone who enters. She knew my name, and she seemed to know everyone’s name who entered and left. Furthermore, she lives on the premises. While not being obtrusive, she is exceedingly vigilant, does not ALLOW her customers to leave their spaces unlocked if there are valuables inside, and if someone unfamiliar enters the space during her business hours, she stops to ask who they are. When I had to move to California, Paula was my contact my contact for the moving companies. She was there to personally let the movers in even when they wanted to pick up my stuff on New Year’s Day.
I really can’t recommend this place enough, I feel like I owe them a debt of gratitude for making my life much easier. I found their prices to be very reasonable as well. It’s easy to get there from Ann Arbor or the surrounding area, as it’s right next to 94.

This place was once a bit run down, but the current management has really turned it around and it’s always being cleaned and worked on. I felt like it was a safe place for storage, but I will say that they often leave the gate open during the day. That’s not a big deal, however, since the management lives on site and is always watching over it. They screwed up my credit card payment once, but worked hard to get that resolved for me.
