I make handcrafted jewelry at
. Every now and again I find myself searching for local bead shops for supplies when I have a custom order and my supplies are low. I try to avoid Michael’s and Jo-Ann’s to favor the more «mom and pop» shops in my area. So, I stumbled upon this shop. Their selection of gemstones are not that vast and the prices are higher but the beads are of quality.

I used a groupon to take a beading class on a very detailed bracelet. They were so helpful over the phone setting great expectations and making suggestions. The class was amazing and now I have a beautiful piece of jewelry. I can’t wait to take more classes and build my beading skills!!!

Can I write an unbiased review of this shop. even though I am friends with the owner’s mom? And I teach there. I believe that I can as I was shopping here long before I started teaching and became friends.
Stony Creek Beads has a great mix of seed beads, Czech glass, and stones. They know that there are 2 – 3 other bead stores in the area that specialize in Swarovski Crystals and they don’t try to compete with them. Stony Creek Beads has a wonderful selection of ¹¹⁄₀ seed beads, a completely decent selection of ¹⁵⁄₀ seed beads and the new Super Duo beads.
There are other stores in the local area (aka Ann Arbor), but one is difficult to go to due to parking and the other wasn’t as friendly as they could be. Stony Creek is in a strip mall with great parking, good hours (closed on Monday), excellent selection. Jenn and Sue are super people and always willing to share their knowledge with beading enthusiasts of all levels.

Just took a class here and was highly impressed. Pleasant, patient, helpful staff and a great selection of beads. Will be back often!

Love shopping here. Jennifer and Sue are both very helpful and full of knowledge when questions come up. The bead supply gets better and better every year. The selections of swarovskis is limited but several shops in the area specialize in them (Pam’s Bead Garden) that it isn’t a detriment to this store. Classes are reasonably priced and very informative.

This is a small but cute bead store with a friendly staff. The most recent time I was in there, the clerk was helping a customer choose the perfect seed beads for a project.
I was invited to sign up for the store’s email list. I talked to the clerk about their beading classes, and she told me they cap them at 8 people so each person can get a little individual attention.
There are bigger bead stores in the area, but none on this side of Ypsilanti, and the selection was still pretty respectable for the size of the shop.
