I’ve been meaning to post about the Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival at the Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds in Yuba City. It is a real must see if you’re in town. The parade was supposed to start at 10 but didn’t get underway until well after 12PM. Not sure what the delay was but there were plenty of shops and restaurants on Plumas Street to keep us entertained while we waited. There was a great turn out, LOTS of people but it didn’t seem crowded. People were friendly and the whole thing is FREE so what do you want, right? After the parade which featured Charros on those amazing dancing horses the crowd milled over to the fairgrounds about 3 blocks away where there was music, dancing and some really great food. I had a Salvadorian pupusa which was excellent — it’s flatbread tortilla like thing stuffed with potatoes and meat and served with a tasty relish kind of stuff on the side. Out of this world. If you’re in the area, give it a go. It is well worth it and good for kids, elderly, everyone.
