Department Of Motor Vehicles

As with any experience I seem to have with DMV, there is always a problem, this one was exceptionally annoying. Bought a truck out of state, dealership was behind on sending paperwork, so off I go to Auburn DMV with my VIN verification, weight certificate (truck), and all other necessary paperwork minus the Idaho title and 2200.00 check. No problems in Auburn, made an appointment, paid partial fees to avoid late charges, told everything good except needed title and 2200.00. So I wait, get the missing stuff from Idaho, make an appointment and go to Yuba DMV. Waited an HOUR, with an appointment just to be told my VIN verification, done by CHP was wrong (it wasn’t a problem at Auburn DMV), I begged so they redid it on the spot… hence one star. Now my weight certificate is wrong because it says gross instead of tare? Therefore, it is unacceptable and I must go have it redone, even though previous DMV trip said it was fine, BTW, I mentioned that and was told to go to Auburn then, perhaps they would accept it. Really? You took my money, but because the scale master, whom I have no control over put my truck’s gross weight is 7300lbs when it should have said tare weight of 7300 lbs, I have to go and pay another scale to weigh it and take another day off work to come in and give the DMV the certificate just to get my plates. Manager is rude and unwilling to budge. I understand policies, however, managers in any other field can override procedures based on circumstances. Quick to cash my check, but not give my plates. It wouldn’t be that big of deal to me if they had told me all of this on my first trip. I put a lot of effort into having everything correct when I show up, not the unprepared type. The inconsistency and inconvenience portrayed by DMV in this state is unreal. Hey state workers, wonder why your pension is on the table all the time, try looking at those of you who treat the public like crap… i.e. The DMV. Ah, and there is no formal complaint process to be found, if there were nothing would get done anyway. POOR ATTITUDES, POOR SERVICE, REDICULOUS WAIT TIMES.

I have to say this is my favorite DMV office in this area. I went today and they help me out. Awesome, the place is pack but they keep moving the line appointment or not…

Never a first time at these establishments something evil draws one here.
Though a simple request is the reason two stars for customer service. That is it !!
Yes people do come ill prepared and ask stupid questions but not a reason to be snappy judgmental have a scowl on your face then say to the next customer «well what do you want» really where the heck is a manager?

been here far more than I’d like a d I hate the California call center that said most of the staff here are nice and helpful and if you make an appointment the wait is reasonable if not it can take an hour

I’m not sure what happened with the last reviewer… but I came here today to renew our car registrations and it was the shortest wait I have ever experienced! The room was full of people… but our wait was only about 20 minutes and we walked in. I was sure impressed with that! However, the woman at the check in desk was incredibly rude! When she called us, she had a total attitude when she said «can I help you?»… as if we were a nuisance to her… the DMV, another government agency just collected money from people.
I came in expecting to pay registration fees of only $ 260 something for my car… instead, at the window, the guy told me I had to pay $ 320 something! I was like whaaaat??? My mom always said she came in to pay during the month of for car registrations and I never actually paid my own before so I didn’t know anything. Apparently, it’s due by the EXACT date it says on your registration! My car was due on the 10^th… and it was the 21 now, so 11 days «past» due. Our wonderful government allows NO grace period unlike typical private business! For 11 days, I was charged SIXTY dollars as a late fee! That is just ridiculous and downright ripping people off! The worker at the window wasn’t all too friendly about it either when we asked why the price he told us was different from the price we thought was due… but he kind of explained the «late» fee breakdown when we asked him too. The late fee is based on the value of your car and calculated PER day! … on the DMV website, it breaks down the different late fees based on how many days you are late. For me, 11 days meant $ 15 late fee PLUS $ 15 CHP fee (WTF?!? really???) PLUS 20% registration fee PLUS 20% weight fee (WTF does that mean?)…
The DMV is just another government agency that rips off it’s citizens! Lesson learned, pay registration fees BEFORE the due date. I also asked the guy at the window that since I’m paying today, will my new date say today or the 10^th… the told me it will still say the 10^th. Oh thank you wonderful government for taking all my money and all other citizens in EVERY way possible! (yes, I’m being sarcastic!)
… 2 stars for rude service and to this being another monopolized government agency that collects money from soooo many people… 4 stars for them at least doing it quickly at this location… If this were a private business I would never come back; unfortunately with this being a government monopoly I have to come back every year…

I seriously hate the waiting. OMG! I tried to make an appointment online, but nothing is free after 4pm. Lame… tick tock! I’m hungry now… Just pick my number already Felicia. «G162» #TheStruggle
