Sutter County Animal Control & Shelter

Can’t believe this is a government entity’s ran like a private organized dog ring for purebred abandons. Where to begin…
Called the shelter about a standard poodle, his name was Jack. Spoke multiple times with the lady whom answered the phone. Got the complete lowdown on the adoption process, where and what time to be there. Drove 2 hours, followed all the rules. There was a short line of 1 person standing outside the office. I was nervous that this person was there for the same dog I was, so I asked them… they said they were there for the Shepperd — whoosh — relief. A few moments later, a fully suited, animal control personnel, popped out of the animal control office, her name is Officer Skinner. When I told her how excited I was to be the first person there to get Jack, she correct me and said his name had been Jacques and that I would have to get in line behind her. Um what, you work here? She explained to me that even though she had all the inside information about the dog, and that people were coming from as far as Oregon to check out Jack aka Jacques, that she was there as a civilian. I’m sorry, excuse me? You’re hanging out in the office, full suited in your Animal Control attire, and supposed now your a civilian and conveniently in line first (even though the line was supposedly started outside as true civilians couldn’t wait in the office — that was CLOSED). So, I’m frustrated, but then furthermore she tells me that the dog isn’t even for her, its for her sister in Valencia who is too busy to drive up and get the dog and stand in line like the rest of the «true» civilians. I might have been able to stomach it if it was going to Officer Skinner’s home, but she was just a parlay with inside knowledge on how to win and cut in line and work the system from the inside.
I called and filed a report with the 2^nd Supervisor, his name is John. He was absolutely zero help, all he said is that she wasn’t «technically» on the clock, albeit it she was working and helping out in the office to facilitate adoption paperwork; and while she was in UNIFORM she was there as a citizen. The fact that she had all this inside knowledge about Jack aka Jacques name change and all the calls from all the people driving in from all these various places (which were hours and hours away), that the dog isn’t even for her, that she’s working in the office and not standing in line outside, that she is dressed in Animal Control outfit and presenting herself to the world as a staff member, is that still fair? John seemed to think so. So John basically told me too bad so sad, guess its a band-​of-​brothers mentality at Animal Control in Sutter County. This is the real kicker, Officer Skinner knew she was going for Jack and she spoke with other employees about him which is how she knew about the Oregon call, which means that other employees knew Officer Skinner was going to get Jack, FINE we can’t stop you… but PLEASE tell everyone else not to waste there time driving hours and hours and just say he is already adopted!!! It is so incredible rude that not only are you going to buck the system, but you’re going to pretend like it was in any way shape or form fair. It absolutely was not. On top of it all, you wasted a lot of people’s time, and pissed off a lot of people who took time off of work while you just did it in the line of abusing your position.
P. S. A couple people arrived after me who also wanted Jack which is why I know I am not the only one who is irked that it went to the Sutter County Animal Control Officer Skinner. They felt the same as I. NOT FAIR, NOT RIGHT.
