Ace Alternators Generators & Starters

My review is actually for Ace’s excellent customer service almost one year ago (new to Unilocal). Short and sweet version: rolled in with a non-​functioning after market air conditioning unit in my ’72 Chevelle. I suspected that it was a short/​blown fuse in the switch connection somewhere in the maze of electrics underneath the dash or hood. 20 minutes later I drove away with the short repaired. (hidden wire contacted block, melted & blew a fuse) When I asked, «How much?» — «No charge.»
I’ve been back twice since then for issues with my 4Runner — both times Ace solved the problem and I was on my way in short order. TERRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Best electrical service ever… I go out of my way for this shop. how far out of my way? When I was driving big-​rigs back in ’05 through ’08, I drove all the way down from Reno, NV to have Ace install my power inverter and a few other gadgets and trinkets on my freightliner. They’re worth every mile of that 18 hr trip… Ace Alternators is that good!

I came in late yesterday afternoon in the pouring rain. I thought my electrical was going out on my car bc I had a tail light and head light out in the same day. Jeremiah (?) assured me that it’s just a common issue on my model of car. He installed my head light replacement right away– for free. What amazing service. Thanks!

This place is the best there is! If you are anywhere within 150 miles of ace alternator, make the trip to them. They’re HONEST which is something you rarely find in mechanics, they’re quick and very well priced, they’re customer service is excellent. Ace alternator is hands down THE BEST shop around. DO NOT GO TO A MECHANIC IN 29 palms. Every shop in 29 was going to charge me $ 300-​$ 600 for something that ace did for FREE.
I was installing an after market back up camera on my vehicle and I spliced into the reverse light incorrectly causing it to apparently blow a fuse (ace figured that out), causing my car not to start. I called everywhere in 29, baileys wanted $ 88.99 JUST to do a diagnostics test (aka plug they’re computer into the car and narrow the problem, something ace did in less than a min), another shop wanted $ 110 and E-​Z auto wanted $ 30. That’s JUST for them to test it! Anyways, point being ace alternator is the best shop I’ve ever been to and I highly recommend it for ANYONE

I have done business with these guys both professionally and for personal projects, from the run of the mill rebuilds to finding and reconditioning a sixty year old 6v generator these guys have always come through! Quick service, outstanding workmanship and very knowledgable staff! Big thumbs up every time!

Hole in the Wall godsend, and I’m an atheist.
Rolled in 15 minutes before they close, and they still jumped to help me out. Tested my alternator — strong, so that wasn’t my problem. Replaced my battery terminals — acid corroded, but still wasn’t the problem. Really knowledgeable, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile for customer satisfaction.
I still haven’t figured out what’s wrong with my car, but they helped to narrow it down significantly. Maybe a fuel pump problem.
Skip the big lots and find this ma and pa desert go-​to for electrical car issues.

Ace Alternators, I have had only good experience with them. Twice I have had them rebuild and repair alternator issues; I have found their quality to be exceptional and their prices fair. My last in counter was to investigate an intermittent electrical failure. They tracked the issue down to a newly installed batter that was both not secured to the battery box and the positive terminal was very loose. They had pity on me. The did not charge me for their analysis and repair. I will definitely go to them first for any battery, alternator or other automotive electrical issues.

Went back to Ace– this time for a faulty wire causing headlight issues— got it done quickly at a very fair price– I remain impressed!

Ok, these guys are great. So my 20 year old chevy truck will just barely turn over and start, now I know I need a new starter. I drive to Ace in Yucca and ask if they have a rebuild, Sure! So I take my newly rebuilt starter, install it and it fires right up. These guys rebuilt my old starter and sold me a fantastic rebuild that continues to work well after three years! Honest, fair price and the owner gave me a hand when I needed a part I couldn’t find. Each time they’ve done work for me I’ve had very positive results! Highly recommended!

Ace Alt is just one of those old businesses (been around forever!!) who always does a great job, charges a fair price and stands by their work. I took my RV there recently for battery issues. They tested everything, determined where the problem was and fixed it all within 30 or 40 minutes. These guys are great.

I was passing through Yucca (visiting Joshua Tree) when my car overheated at the KFC parking lot. I was freaked out and called the nearest place Unilocal showed me. The man who answered was incredibly patient and kind. He even came right to the KFC lot and fixed the car’s fan so it could make it to the shop. Where he fixed everything right away (engine fan was broken). As a stranger passing through an unknown place… I was truly truly grateful. Thank you Ace Alternators!

Thank you Ace. You guys are great. I had a dead battery this morning and had no idea what the problem was. Took it to Ace and the checked the system out and it was a lose ground connection. No charge.

Alternator problems, starters, need a belt, battery or voltage checked? Geesh, seems these guys do it all. Over the years we’ve visited this shop on two occasions both of which with excellent experiences.
First visit was a broken mount for an alternator. No charge, sent us across the way to the welder who fixed us right up. Friendly recommendation to another local shop. Nice.
Then, we had starter problems on a boat, pull it out and see that maybe we need new brushes installed. Take it to Ace and immediately was greeted and taken care of. Rick, took a look at it and started fondling it with the precision of a safe cracker saying that it felt good to him. Just the same he asked if we had a few minutes to take a peek for himself. Finding nothing out of the ordinary (which I guess is good news) he took the time to clean up a few things and put it back together with a clean bill of health. Handed it over… NO CHARGE! A little man-​talk of what could be causing the problem and ultimately suggested that if we can’t identify the trouble to bring in the boat. Wow, what a great suggestion. Hopefully one we don’t need to do but they’re not really a repair shop like that — certainly not for boats but willing to take a look and test away just the same. Talk about going above and beyond!
Oh, and I’d like to add that while we were waiting for the diagnosis no less than 3 other very pleasant staff asked if we could be helped. I would say that good karma & good people are working at Ace. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood, even for a Friday afternoon.
Saw a few other walk-in’s too for batteries or other needs. Plus their stock of alternators, starters and rock crawling gear was pretty impressive for a small shop in Yucca Valley. This is absolutely the type of business you like to visit and we NEED in the basin. Beyond reasonable (not that we’ve ever been charged to know), fast and friendly plus working 6 days a week? What else could we need?

Updated Review ³⁄₂₀₁₄: A squeaky pulley on truck — not much of a toss up between my husband or Ace. I phoned Ace and sure enough, they can replace the pulley. Thank goodness… as they found not only 1 pulley that was bad but 2 plus the bearing on the alternator which without some attention would have been disabling and much more costly. Job completed within hours — reasonable price and extremely satisfied. I love how they show you the parts they pulled out and how they’re not working correctly. Super great team at Ace and thrilled they were able to tackle our recent needs. Most certainly saved my husband what what have sure been numerous hours over/​under a hood, bloody knuckles, multiple trips to the auto parts store and probably a greasy keyboard from Google searches.

I’ve been using Ace for years and can’t say enough good about them. Competent. Extremely helpful and customer oriented. If you think you have an electrical issue with your car, truck, rv, etc., drive in and they’ll look it over for free. The difference with Ace though, if they can’t find a problem or it’s something simple, they’ll explain it and send you on your way without inventing some bogus thing to rip you off.
