Sagebrush Press Book Store

Such a fantastic bookstore in the middle of the desert! Easily found LOTS of books I wanted, and love everything I purchased. A fantastic and eclectic selection of books, & lots of books related to the history and culture of the surrounding area. Very nice owner.

Inventory changes often so you gotta go back often!

I’ve been returning for many years to this wonderful bookstore run by helpful Dan and Janet Cronkhite. It’s a great funky place to browse, where in addition to the full shelves by subject, there are piles of new additions on the floor. But ask and if they have it, they will quickly find it for you. They have a lot of western Americana, history, biography, mystery, some great bargains — a bit of everything and I always leave with a pile of books.

I’ve been to a lot of bookstores and this really was an amazing find. I wish I would have had more time to spend hours in this place. I can’t wait to go back.

This is a large, varied, gem of a used bookstore. Its name is a little misleading — you might think from the name that it only sells books produced by some local publisher named Sagebrush Press. But no.
My partner and I have visited a lot of used bookstores around the country, and one of the things we’ve noticed is that deserts tend to have more than their share of good ones. I guess it’s a combination of the dry climate (no mustiness) and cheap rent?
Sagebrush Press Book Store is so full of books that it’s hard to manuever around the shelves. It’s the type where there are lots of unpacked boxes filling the the aisles between the packed shelves, and you wonder whether those boxes will every be unpacked.
Big selections of BOTH popular books (trade paperbacks of every genre) and history, literature, various non-​fiction genres, etc. Big selection of Western, California, and desert books. I picked up a WPA Guide to Utah, originally published in the late 1930s, for a good price.
