I was not expecting much coming to this park because we are in Yuma. I LOVE this place! Today was my sons and my first time coming here. It’s about 7 minutes away from our place. It is BEAUTIFUL! The park is HUGE! The toddler place is fantastic! Very fun to climb around in all the tunnels! They have a tire swing which is awesome!!! The lake is very neat! It’s a big place! Lots of families! I would have given it 5 stars but I do wish they had some sort of vending machines for water! It is really hot, and my son drank all his water rather quickly. Other than that, it is a fantastic place for kids. We will definitely be returning. Another plus side is that the playgrounds are built very well, so no need to worry about splinters! Just make sure your child wears sneakers because there is lots of sand!

This is a beautiful park with a very creative play area for kids and a beautiful pond with shade trees.

I’ve been coming to West Wetlands Park once a year for about 4 years now(we are from out-of-town) to host a charity walk. Each year, the park has been clean, well-maintained and bathrooms stocked. The park is truly a beautiful site when the sun rises over the lake. Kudos to the city staff who come out each year to help with trash and assist with the event. Overall the West Wetlands Park is a great place for any event or just a day at the park!

«The Stewart Vincent Wolfe Memorial Playground» is what makes this park the most memorable. This swing and slide area is not typical in any way. In fact, it is amazing such thing exist in this community considering how kids must feel knowing there is a castle in a park somewhere within there city. It was such an uncommon playground that I had to go in it myself.

West Wetlands Park is a beautiful park… very peaceful. Nothing, but kind people come to this park to get either exercise, play with their pets, spend time with friends/family, or fish. I’d give it 5 stars, however, I absolutely HATE that red dirt! If you have sandals on, it’ll make your feet red, and if you have shoes, it will turn your shoes red! And it’s a hassle to get it out! Yes, it makes the park visually appealing, but it’s a pain! Anyway, other than that, it’s a nice little oasis in this drab desert.

This park is pretty clean, quiet, & growing. I can’t wait for the biking path to be finished! :)

LOCATION: So on my exploration of the biking path I rode into this place and decided to check it out. The park runs along the biking path and river. Down the street from Gateway Park which you can see from a distance. FACILITIES: The park is pretty small but looks nice and clean. Very nice place to take the kids as there are 2 huge playground areas. Couple of shaded canopy areas with tables, grill. HUGE open field area in the back. Boat launch area. Also a tubing company leaves from here. Not too much here in terms of paved areas which turn into dirt paths in certain areas of the park. Bathrooms available. ATMOSPHERE: Not very crowded when I went on a Saturday morning(~9am) with a few kids and people getting ready to go tubing. A few elderly people fishing. Seems very safe. No homeless people or anything like that around. PARKING: Small parking lot available which is free to the right as you enter. CONCLUSION: Not a must see but a nice place to visit especially if you have kids.

Wetlands Park is a wonderful addition to the city. It makes me either a.) wish I had a kid to see enjoy the park or b.) wish I was a kid again. The park boasts a small man-made lake that is stocked for fishing, outdoor areas to BBQ, and some amazing playground structures that are designed as castles. Even if you are passing through Yuma on the 8, it’d probably be a great idea to make a quick pit-stop for your kid to have some fun. Further, this is a great pick-up point for tubing down the river. If you start at Gateway Park, it takes about 45 – 60 minutes to get to Wetlands Park. Go tubing with some friends and drop a car off here and drive the other to Gateway Park and you are off for a great time for next to nothing.
