Tlaquepaque

We were craving Mexican cuisine and decided to give this place a try. We were very pleased! There was some awkward waiting time to be seated even after the hostess gave us a weird look. My guess is she was new and wasn’t quite confident with how seating works yet. Once seated, we were greeted with a basket of chips and salsa. Nothing to write home about but it was still yummy. Their menu is thick and full of many choices, but we decided to do the pick three combination plates to get the most bang for our bucks. We were not disappointed! I ordered a Chimichanga, an Enchilada, and a Chille Relleno. The combination plates also come with rice and beans. It was very filling and I was excited that I couldn’t finish my plate. The leftover enchilada was devoured the following morning. We definitely plan to visit again.

I came home to visit my family and they recommended Tlaquepaque for lunch. I was pleased with the decision to go there. The guac was awesome with just the right heat. Also, I really enjoyed my vegetarian quesadilla. It was full of veggies, unlike many restaurants. The prices for portion sizes were a great deal. My quesadilla could easily be two meals and the price was under $ 10.

My aunts and I have the tradition of going to Gabe’s to do some bargain shopping each year, and had always gone to a Mexican restaurant down the road a ways. We tried going this year and found the Mexican restaurant is no longer open. We searched for other Mexican restaurants in the area and came across Tlaquepaque via Google. We read the reviews, laughed at a few, and in honor to keep the Mexican lunch tradition alive we decided to give it a try. We were BLOWN away! I remember one review saying how the interior colors were obnoxious… in a good way. We agree, it’s definitely in a good way! Very festive and bright without being cheesy and tacky. I ordered the chimichanga lunch which came with rice and refried beans. The first bite I took was of the beans and they were SO good. Way different and more flavorful than any other place I/we’ve tried. Everything was so fresh tasting and full of flavor. Even the chips and salsa were very good (especially the chips). Our waiter was very friendly and put up with our jovial crap so the service is good in my book ;) I’m excited to call this our new tradition spot and I hope they stick around for a very long time!

Was hoping to find authentic Mexican food in the Zanesville area, actually found a nasty case of food poisoning. Mediocre service, mediocre food flavors which ended up being dangerous. Don’t take the chance.

You can tell if a Mexican restaurant is good by their chips. Well, this wasn’t. The chips were burned and old. All the servers had a nasty attitude the entire night. Would not recommend it.

We ordered nachos, veggie burrito, combo of poblano pepper, cheese quesadilla and chicken enchilada. 45 mins later no food, $ 1.00 hot sauce, no more chips, first two are free, $ 2.00 a basket. First basket was barely there, four hungry adults sharing. Frozen margarita was decent, price fair. Food shows up on hot plates, nachos were good enough for two to share, burrito was good, combo was bad, chile was not battered, pepper cut with cheese stuffing and heated on the plate; enchilada, chicken inside cold tortilla with warm sauce; and quesadilla, cheese inside tortilla, cheese was shredded, cold and unmelted. What happened for the first 50 minutes till our food arrived is unknown, but refills were not part of the service, nor was checking with us to update eta of food. Would not come back, we have friends in town and would not be guests at this restaurant. Far enough from interstate that has to be supported by regulars, I guess if you had an hour plus for average food you would be okay.

Here is the problem with reviews. If you live in Zanesville and this is the best place in town, then you rate it favorably. If you are just traveling through and you see a four star rating you think it must be decent, not so with this place. Fair enough prices but my food was pretty week all around.

Portions were huge. Extensive Mexican food menu. Food was good. Waitstaff very friendly and attentive. Nice atmosphere. If you are looking for Mexican in Zanesville, I can’t imagine there would be a better place.

Stopped in here for the 3^rd time the other day. It had been a pleasant experience every time.
First off the food. It is pretty typical Mexican food. I’ve had a little bit of everything, and I can say I haven’t been disappointed. The one thing that stuck with me the other night was the burritos. Really tasty and piping hot.
The wait staff has been friendly every time I have stopped in. They are always quick to refill my drinks and stop in to make sure our chips are full. :-)
All in all I like this place. It isn’t mind blowing Mexican food. It is however good food for a good price.
Definitely recommend this place if you are in town.

Great, authentic Mexican food. Good service, and the margaritas will surely knock you down. Fantastic prices for the portion size. The restaurant I compare every other Mexican place to!

Always good hot and fresh. Have never been disappointed. Enchalada Jelisco is wonderful!

The food here is AWESOME!!! The best Mexican food you can get anywhere! You will be satisfied no matter what you order off the menu and the management are the most friendly couple you’ll ever meet… So awesome food and friendly management. …you can’t beat that combination!!!

I love this place. The chips and salsa are amazing that you get before your meal. Sometimes I just go in and pick up orders of those to take home!

From out of town and had a taste for Mexican food. Reading upon all Unilocal reviews decided to try… okay margaritas… okay service. okay food.

Excellent food! We had taco salads… you can get with chicken or ground beef. Both were delicious. Uh, we also had to order an enchilada… you know… for variety… and a quesadilla for the two of us. My sister in law and I just couldn’t resist. The best enchilada I’ve had! Salsa is a bit mild for my taste, but you can add some yucateca which is on the table if you want. Food is from the Jalisco region of Mexico. Give it a try. If you’re watching carbs… get the fajitas!

Delicious food! Great service. Decent price. What more could you ask for? Plus they have super fast «To Go» service as well.

Good Mexican food at a reasonable price. Atmosphere is great and drinks are very good. But the only time I drink is when I’m alone or with somebody !

As there are 3 Mexican restaurants in the area had to pick one, based on the reviews picked Tlaquepaque. Well it was the right choice. Had the Carnita dinner and it was perfect. When you go see if JUAN is working, he is a great and attentive waiter. As I come from Jersey certainly can tell good Mexican food; only thing that could use some spice here is the salsa it was a bit watery too. but then I am in Ohio… :)
Overall great Mexican dining experience and I look forward to eating here again when back in the Zanesville area… hopefully soon! :)

Came for lunch around 12:30 with my girlfriend. The place was fairly busy but not at max capacity. We were seated promptly and treated courteously. Our drinks and chips arrived after only a few minutes. The chips were nice ad warm and crispy. I have been to a lot of Mexican places that had old and stale chips but not here! I had the fried burrito with shredded bee and my girlfriend got the 2 chicken enchiladas rice and beans. The food arrived after I only 10 minutes and was delicious!

When we ate there I said I gave it a 7 out of 10 for Mexican food. The chips were good and I got the tacos, they were different from the food truck tacos I love so much but as far as Zanesville goes it’s the best the town has to offer, though from my LA perspective it was a 3.
The service was very good but I do know some Spanish.
Ah I’m changing it to a 4 for Zanesville’s sake… who knows what good mexican food is anyway?
