So, this place is pretty much the first business you see on you way to Zeeland from Holland. Which is great for pulling in impulse buyers like myself. I stopped in, the menu was huge, but I was feeling pretty simple, so I ordered a medium hot fudge Sunday. When it came time to pay, the girl at the counter asked for $ 3.75. Which seemed odd, since the price for a medium was $ 2.59 on the board. I asked her about the discrepancy, she said the price on the board didn’t matter, I needed to give her $ 3.75. I refused at that point, so she gave me a small at the board price, but wouldn’t honor the price for the item I had ordered. I took the small and went about my way, pondering what had just happened. Every. Item on the board ends in a 9, after investigating a little further, I found there isn’t a single item ending in 9 that comes up to $ 3.75 with tax. Though, an easy way to get to $ 3.75 is to take the correct price of the item I ordered, $ 2.59, plus tax bringing it to $ 2.75, then tacking on another dollar for the tip jar… So, overall, this visit the ice cream is average, but the service is horrible.

Omigod! Is there such a thing as a bad ice cream place?! Well there’s a certain homemade comfort like feeling that this place has. I love the ship like features that are added to the place to give it that nautical feel. Even as you approach the building it’s on a triangular piece of land giving that effect that you are on the bow. Parking is kind of tough because it is on Main Street, which can be busy. There are so many sundae options. I had the Captain Apple this time around, and it was perfect for what I was craving. It had apple, caramel, granola, whip cream, cherry, and ice cream of course. They have traditional ice cream flavors, and the ice cream bursts that have different flavors for the twists. I had trouble deciding on what to get because of the many options. The staff is prompt, and keep the area clean. There are pictures posted of a visit by former president, George W. Bush back in the day stopping in for some ice cream here.
